Engraving invites you to explore a world of shifting corridors and ancient mysteries. Using just ink, paper, and your wits, navigate the horrors that lurk around every corner as you chart your way through this unique horror adventure.

About this game

Engraving is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure set in a foreboding forest that reshapes itself each time you close your eyes.

Map your surroundings by hand, discover new methods of traversal, and solve ritualistic puzzles in an ever-shifting landscape.

Will you pick up the quill and dare to look into an abyss beyond mortal comprehension?

A THICK ATMOSPHERE

Engraving takes place in a forest that you can freely explore in a non-linear way. Every puzzle you solve and every mystery you uncover will open up new areas and layers of reality.

But you are not alone... something ancient and unspeakable is tracking your every step!

MAPPING REDEFINED

The only map you get is the one you draw yourself.

Take notes. Mark locations. Track your path by hand.

There are no quest markers. No hand-holding.

Your initiative is your only guide. Without it, your soul is lost.

CURSED AND FORGOTTEN

You came here a graverobber, chasing relics. Now the forest has turned against you.

A creeping curse eats away at your mind and body. Each step exhausts you - but rest comes at a terrible price.

Wake up in a forest that has shifted. If you wake up at all.

DO NOT DIE

Death hides in the shadows in many forms. But it offers no respite.

Do not make the mistake of thinking the afterlife is an escape from this curse.

It will cost you dearly.

    Playtest for Demo coming soon!

Hey everyone!I’m really thrilled about the positive reception to the game’s official trailer release, so I wanted to share an update and give you an outlook on what the next months will look like.Road to DemoThe plan is to release a demo in the near future and I’m aiming to have it ready well before the upcoming Next Fest.Right now, I already have a working demo version that has gone through many playtest iterations and sessions. A huge thank you to all the playtesters who have supported me during this phase! This is not a promise. If I see during testing that I cannot wrap up the demo in a satisfying way in time, it will be delayed. Quality comes first.Looking for PlaytestersIf you find Engraving interesting and want to help me answer a few remaining questions I still have, I would love to have you join the next playtest.I am preparing it right now, so if you want to take part, the best way is to join my Discord server and grab the Engraving Playtest role by reacting with the 🌲 emoji in the #field-guide channel.Join DiscordI will ping this role in the coming days and start the playtest with more instructions.Thank you all for the support! Mystery adventure Engraving has you drawing lovely parchment maps - shame about the horrible forest graveyard

I have recently moved to an area that’s surrounded by forest, or at least, by swathes of greenery that feel like forests when you’re far enough inside them, even if they don’t meet whatever quantifiable definition is currently in vogue. My dreams are ablaze with scenes of sunlight percolating through shifting layers of beech and oak, with visions of dirt paths winding through bramble. Now, here comes Engraving to transform all those dreams into nightmares. Read more
