About this game

Plague Lords is a turn-based tactical RPG set in an open world, featuring settlement building, exploration, and survival elements.

  • Transform your small camp into a thriving city.
  • Assemble a squad of soldiers with unique characteristics and train them into a disciplined army.
  • Cleanse the plague-infested barony and uncover the cause of the infection.

Welcome to the mid-14th century!
The Black Death is at its peak, and entire cities are deserted and dying. A scout squad is sent to find a missing noble, turning their investigation into a new, strange infection.

The few survivors hide in the ruins of cities and monasteries, awaiting their inevitable fate. Scouts must turn frightened townsfolk into an army capable of resisting and uncover the reasons behind the mysterious epidemic.

Train leaders, specialists, and warriors.
Warriors aren't recruited in barracks for gold but are leveled up through battles. However, remember that you lose characters permanently due to injuries, infections, or fatal wounds. Losing each one is a tangible blow to the settlement's safety.

Each character can wield a construction hammer, bow, or heavy sword, but only if their skills allow it. They can learn as many skills as their intellect allows. Some work in the fields, while others lead warriors in battle or construct fortifications.

Develop your base and craft equipment.
The plague has put an end to trade and science, but you can always rely on your builders and craftsmen.
Develop their skills and learn to construct dozens of different buildings to create equipment and weapons that will help you survive.
You start with a small tent camp, but over time, the city will grow and develop into a real town with walls, numerous production buildings, and defensive structures.

  • The sandbox world is fully open and regenerated with each new game.
  • Explore abandoned cities, farms, monasteries, and fortresses.
  • Find loot, characters, or interesting events while inspecting abandoned buildings.
  • Develop your small military camp into a real town with walls, towers, patrols, and guard shifts.
  • 40 different buildings provide your settlement with everything it needs for protection and development.
  • Build fences, walls, barricades, and set traps to defend against the plague's invasions.
  • 30 professions, from peasants and lumberjacks to engineers and commanders.
  • Infected characters gain unprecedented advantages but can turn and attack at any moment.
  • Characters need to eat, drink, and sometimes sleep to restore morale and strength.
  • Day and night cycles directly affect gameplay, and you'll need to stock up on torches to see a bit further.

Dev Log: New Loot Window, Map, and Auto-Equipment Management

Greetings, mercenaries! It’s been a while — which means it’s time to share how development is progressing. After the closed beta test of the prologue, we realized Plague Lords needed some serious changes. We’ve been reworking many systems — and the good news is that the updated version of the prologue is nearing completion. Most of the localizations are done, and the gameplay is now significantly more player-friendly. Here’s what we’ve already implemented — or are just about to wrap up: ⚒️ Automatic Use of Tools and Weapons No more micromanagement — characters will now automatically equip the right tool or weapon from their inventory, depending on the task: chopping, hammer, or fighting. 🪙 New Loot Window with “Take All” Button No more opening a separate window for each building — now, when you search houses, carts, or corpses, you’ll get a compact loot window where you can grab everything you need with one click. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44665753/c9946cc65b035f2981914b6b90342c7b1303b3d2.jpg 🗺️ Map Your squad didn’t come here blindly — they had a map. And now you do too: open the map, find the nearest town or tavern, and stop wandering aimlessly. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44665753/d27344876947e86af151acb6ce3e248cc89809e2.jpg 📦 Loot is Now Visible on the Map Items dropped on the ground will now remain visible even after your squad leaves the tile. You’ll always know where your loot is — no more guessing or backtracking blindly. Dropped resources stay in place and are clearly marked on the map, making it easier to plan your routes and manage overloaded squads. 👜 Bags Increase Carrying Capacity We’ve added a new type of equipment — bags, which can be placed in a dedicated gear slot. They greatly increase a character’s carry weight — perfect for long expeditions and resource gathering. ⚙️ Other Key Improvements Ability to skip dialogues with one click Usage counters on consumable items (food, water, arrows, etc.) More useful info on character portraits Additional UI tweaks and usabi...

Rework of Morale, Stamina, and Combat System

Long time no see, mercenaries! It’s been a while since our last update — and we haven’t been idle. Over the past few months, Plague Lords has undergone massive changes. We’ve reworked core systems, added quality-of-life features, and improved the overall gameplay experience. Here's a quick breakdown of the most important updates: 🧳 Items Can Now Be Dropped on the Ground No more disappearing gear! Dropped items will now stay on the ground for a couple of in-game days. If your squad is overloaded, you can temporarily leave some supplies behind and come back for them later. Perfect for forced marches when you don't want to lose valuable resources. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44665753/8a7d16bc70d2f694675160cfc3494538586b64e9.png ⚖️ Morale System Fully Reworked Morale now dynamically responds to everything: character actions, conditions, and story events. High morale may allow characters to walk without losing stamina, do more work, or even gain bonus attacks in combat. Low morale means reduced effectiveness and negative statuses. Had a few too many drinks? You'll get a “Had too much wine” debuff. Run from too many fights? Your squad might earn the dreaded “Running like cowards!” trait. Morale is no longer an infinite buff — it's now a tactical tool that can help or hurt, depending on your choices. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44665753/b73f2d132a412b6eabdd5806505b9f8ef38228d9.png 💥 Abilities Now Use Stamina Instead of Morale Abilities now consume stamina, making the system more intuitive. Morale now affects combat indirectly, while stamina governs your ability to act. This makes skill use easier to plan and overall combat resource management more strategic. 🔧 Equipment Repair Now Happens in Workshops You can now repair worn-out gear at workshops. This allows you to keep your equipment in good condition without having to waste extra resources crafting replacements. 🧍‍♂️ Easier Unit Selection in Combat No more hunting for the right portrait in the UI — just click the character directly on th...
