About this game
Hyper Tanks is an arcade-style arena shooter where shots bounce off walls! Choose from a variety of tank classes, conquer challenging solo & co-op campaigns and battle your friends or bots in chaotic multiplayer modes! Dodge incoming fire, collect powerups and deploy special weapons to survive this action-packed mayhem!

Destroy hordes of enemies in epic campaigns, either solo or in co-op! If you lose all your lives, your run starts over!
The lore: A rogue AI has compromised the world’s Hyper Grid. As a corporate Hyper Pilot equipped with a state-of-the-art Hyper Tank, you must reclaim the Grid and destroy the machine boss and its subordinates.
Predictable variety: Each campaign features handcrafted levels in a fixed order to help you master the challenge, but level layouts and enemy spawns may vary between runs to keep you on your toes.
Customization: Choose a tank with distinct traits and abilities and select its upgrades from randomized rewards throughout the run. The further you progress, the more playable tanks you unlock.
Tactics: Use clever tactics to overcome the enemy forces' numerical advantage. Ambush unsuspecting foes from behind, bounce your shots around corners, or turn the tide with powerups and special weapons!
Boss battles: All campaigns end with an epic boss fight that will test your skills. Beat each one to save the Grid!

Battle your friends or bots in action-packed multiplayer modes for up to 4 players!
Many modes: Play various Skirmish modes with unique rules and objectives, including classics like Deathmatch or Capture the Flag! Some modes can be played either as a free-for-all or as a team battle.
Arena atmosphere: A classic announcer calls out key highlights during the match. Score a Multi-Frag and bask in the glory!
Online & offline: Battle your friends in local couch multiplayer, or invite your Steam friends to join you online via Steam Remote Play Together! They don't even need to own the game to join the fun. [additional players require a controller to play]
CPU players: All modes can be played with or against capable Bots. You can control their difficulty and even give basic commands to your CPU allies!

Switch between two camera perspectives at the press of a button:
Top-down: Maintain a clear overview of the battlefield with the tactical top-down perspective. The camera dynamically adjusts its position based on nearby threats.
Third-person: Immerse yourself in the action with the close-up third-person perspective.
Full control: Switch between the two perspectives at any time during a match. Whether you use keyboard and mouse or a controller, the intuitive controls automatically adapt to your current perspective.
[matches with multiple human players can only be played from the top-down perspective]

Go in guns blazing or take a more tactical approach with the help of powerful combat effects:
Powerups: Collect the spawning powerups to enter a temporary Hyper State and gain effects such as increased damage, greater speed, or even stealth!
Special weapons: Choose from a wide range of impactful special weapons, including homing rockets, defense turrets, fireballs, EMPs, tornados, and many more. Oh and of course there is a grappling hook - because every great game needs one.

Pick the Hyper Tank that suits your playstyle or master all 8 playable classes!
Distinct traits: Hyper Tanks are state-of-the-art virtual weapons platforms, developed by the world's leading corporations for Hyper Grid warfare. Each tank class feels different thanks to its unique stats, traits, movement methods and weaponry.
Tank abilities: Each tank has class-specific abilities, such as a charged shot, a defense drone or a short-range teleport. Use them at crucial moments to surprise your foes!

See you on the Grid, Hyper Pilot!

Devlog #3 - Graphics Update!
Greetings, Hyper Pilots!Recently, I’ve been focusing on a visual overhaul of the game. My goal wasn't to rework every single asset from scratch (to save time!), but rather to elevate the overall quality and atmosphere of the existing art style. By enhancing textures, material shaders, lighting, and effects, the game does not feel as "plastic" and sterile anymore. Instead, it now has a gritty, lived-in edge, like a wet, rough, and shiny cyberpunk setting. Here is a look at the improved style, with some of the reworked elements highlighted: In the new version, there is also no longer a single spot in the level that feels motionless. Even though the game is built on hard surfaces and simple geometric shapes, everything now has a subtle sense of movement or animation: Inside the Arena: Wall lights pulse gently, and volumetric fog slowly creeps across the ground. At the Arena's Edge: Shiny moving lights catch the eye alongside an animated force-field barrier. In the Distance: Stars flicker behind a pulsing hyper-grid background.Additionally, every level now features its own dedicated color scheme, with the arena lights and force fields pulsing in harmony with that specific palette. Here is a side-by-side comparison of different scenes, with the old look on the left and the reworked graphics on the right:The differences may seem subtle at first glance, but if you look closely, you will notice how all the improved details and effects create a richer atmosphere.Check out these additional screenshots from the new version:I will soon update the Steam store page with images and videos featuring the new graphics, but it will take some time to replace all of them.Let me know in the comments if you agree that this graphics enhancement was the right call and if you like what you see. Until next time!Read full article on Community Announcements (silbo)AnnouncementsOfficial

Devlog #1 - Development Update
For this first Hyperlog I just wanted to give you an update on how the development is going. The game is still in development and will be released when it's ready! Here is a list of things that are already finished: 8 different playable tanks with unique traits and abilities 12 different special weapons 6 Hyperstates (Powerups) 3 Skirmish/Multiplayer Game Modes 20+ Skirmish Arenas Controls (remappable) Camera System Top down view + 3rd Person view Complex CPU Players Commands for AI companions Sneak system for Singleplayer AI UI: Main Menu, Options, Tank selection, various popups (e.g. game end screen) Full Soundtrack Models, particle effects and sounds for everything of the above As you can see in this list, most things needed for a fun Skirmish / Multiplayer experience have been finished already. You will be able to play Skirmish offline with Bots and friends (couch coop), or online with friends via Steam Remote Play Together. But I also want to develop a nice replayable Single Player campaign (which will also be playable in Coop), and that is what I am working on right now. It is also a quite complex and big task, which is why the game will still be in development for a while! Here is a rundown of things that need to be finished: Campaign Screen Roguelike campaign structure + mission tree Lots of different enemy types Lots of different levels Various logic for levels, e.g. random enemy spawners, different mission goals... Tank upgrade system during a campaign run Boss Battles Steam integration Performance Optimizations & polishing Ingame Translations There are also some optional points that I may work on, depending on the progress. ----------------------- I want to thank you for your interest and support! And for your patience while you wait for this game to come out. ːsteamhappyː If you want to see more regular dev updates and additional gameplay material, come and join the Hyper Tanks Discord: https://discord.gg/pMUaEjYY2E Lastly a want to share a gameplay reco...Read full article on Community Announcements (silbo)
