The Hamster's Journey is a roguelite platformer in which you guide Hammy Jo through the exciting cage escape of his dreams. Don hats and pants to imbue Hammy Jo with unique types of movement, and combine these powers in clever ways to overcome the obstacles strewn in your way.

About this game
The Hamster's Journey is a roguelite platformer about combining hats and pants to overcome the obstacles that get in your way, while being chased by the ominous Hamster's Nightmare.
Throughout the levels, you can unlock and pick up a variety of pants, such as the pogo pants and the skateboard pants, which affect how you move and how you jump. You'll also find hats. These are your actions: Equip the grapple hook hat to swing from the scenery or the dash hat for a quick horizontal burst of speed. There are dozens of unique pairings of hats and pants, and finding a winning combination - or making the most of a bad one - is what The Hamster's Journey is all about!
This is a game about variety of movement, and finding the right tool for the job. But then again, using the worst combinations can sometimes help you find unexpected secrets!
If you make it far enough - and fast enough - you can make it all the way to the end of a world, and unlock the door to the next one. In the end, perhaps the intrepid hamster really can escape and see what's out there in the real world.

The Hamster's Journey begins!
It's finally launch day! The Hamster's Journey is now available on Steam. It's been an intense couple of months at Rain Jam Games, but we think we've come up with something you'll have a great time with. More hats, more pants, and more worlds for Hammy Jo to explore. For those who played The Hamster's Journey at PAX, we hope you find more of what you liked about it! In the longer term, we have a few more things on the way. Twitch mode isn't enabled in this version just yet, but we'll have more info about that soon, as well as a few other things we have up our sleeves. Some life circumstances and a small delay
Hi all! This is a quick one and a mild bummer, but a few senior team members have been dealing with some unforeseen life circumstances in the critical last moments of our intended release schedule. Don't worry about us - it's nothing scary - but it's meant that we've missed out on some crucial opportunities to polish The Hamster's Journey as much as we'd have liked, and so we have made the decision to give ourselves a few extra weeks. The game is very nearly 'done' as it stands, but we haven't had the chance to make it play as nicely as we'd like. This will give us the chance to smooth out some rough edges, and since we only get one first impression, we've decided it's worth it. The new release we're shooting for is early February, and soon that should be reflected in the posted release date here on Steam. The Hamster's Journey gets a date!
Hi everyone! Probably a fair chunk of people reading this came across The Hamster's Journey when they met us at PAX Australia, and anyone who asked when the game was coming out would have gotten an answer along the lines of 'around the end of the year', possibly with 'ish' on the end. Well, we were right on the money with that, ish. With great excitement, we can announce that The Hamster's Journey will be coming to Steam/Windows on January 22nd! We've been hard at work crafting all the hats and pants we can think of, as well as a bunch of fun levels for Hammy Jo to wear them in, and of course a few other bits of hidden hijinx you'll discover in the fullness of time.
