Drift Vector by Biggles.Games invites you to pilot through space, blending Asteroids-style gameplay with synthwave music and vibrant neon trails.

About this game

In a galaxy splattered with neon and powered by synth, you're a pilot in the cosmic void. Inspired by classics like Asteroids, Drift Vector combines old-school arcade action with pulsating synthwave beats. Evade, attack, and survive in the neon abyss!

Any object in motion stays in motion in the harsh vacuum of space: master the simple newtonian physics and unique control system with small, precise adjustments to create beautiful swirling patterns, line up the perfect shot, collect powerups & dodge rockets & other hazards.

Select a colour & choose your starfighter before jumping into battle! Will you choose the balletic SNUBNOSE fighter to dance circles around your enemies, the precise & deadly INTERCEPTOR, the fully-loaded GUNSHIP or the prototype shielded BOMBER?

Current features:

  • Retina-burning neon vector graphics
  • Synthwave soundtrack & sound-effects
  • Tricky by satisfying-to-master controls (now with added stabilisers!)
  • Compete for high scores by defeating swirling waves of simple AI enemies in a randomly-generated, "infinite" ARCADE MODE
  • Dogfight your friends in VERSUS MODE
  • Waves of simple enemies to shoot for points
  • Asteroids & walls to dodge!
  • Powerups to collect for POINTS, to increase your ship's THRUST, the NUMBER or SPEED of your rockets, or to gain a protective SHIELD
  • Both modes support UP TO 4 PLAYERS locally in single-screen multiplayer

Thanks for checking out Drift Vector! As a solo indie developer, I really appreciate your support and would love to hear your feedback.

The game is currently at a very early stage of development so a huge amount is still likely to change before the "official launch". Please wishlist the game if you're curious to see how the game develops over time or consider joining the Biggles.Games Discord server to help me sound out new ideas & make this game the best it can be!

Announcing the Drift Vector Playtest & High Score Competition!

I hope everyone's been having a great SHMUP-Fest! It's still very early days for Drift Vector, but it's been super helpful getting feedback from the game so far but I thought it might be fun to add a little spice to the proceedings with a HIGH SCORE Competition for the remainder of the SHMUP-Fest! To enter, go to this Playcocola link, read the instructions & you should be able to record a playtest session. I'd suggest around 20 minutes will be enough & then there'll be a short survey at the end. Whoever gets the highest score during their recorded playtest session before midnight (GMT) on Monday will receive $50 STEAM CREDIT to spend on whatever game strikes your fancy :-) As an added incentive to spread the word, if you have a friend who you know loves retro games, indie games & score-chasing in general, tag them in reply to this tweet & you'll also get $50 steam credit if they go on to win! Lastly, if you'd like to be notified about future playtest sessions, you can sign up here & I'll email you when the next one comes around :-) Thanks again & looking forward to getting your feedback! It really does make a world of difference & will hopefully result in me making the games you want to play (rather than just the games I kinda feel like making to scratch an itch ;-) - Biggles

    Let's Play Drift Vector!

Hi! I'm Biggles, the developer of "Drift Vector", a minimalist, glowing neon synthwave-inspired, indie, retro arcade asteroids-like game! It's currently very early in development but Steam have kindly included me in this week's SHMUP-Fest! I've never tried streaming before but thought it might be fun to take the opportunity to do so & maybe talk to players, answer questions & generally see what y'all think!
