About the Game

Dungeon Inn(莎拉的黑店)

As Sara, the ambitious innkeeper, you’ve struck a deal with a dragon to open an inn right next to a mysterious dungeon that appeared near the dragon's lair. With adventurers from rival guilds eager to explore the dungeon’s secrets, your inn has become the perfect pit stop for them.

Your challenge? Keep these competing groups from crossing paths while maximizing profits. It’s a delicate balancing act, but who cares if they’re rivals? As long as we don’t get caught, everyone’s happy – especially your coin purse!

Welcome to the art of dungeon-adjacent hospitality, where discretion meets ambition, and every guest is a potential goldmine. Let the games begin!

Spread the word of your inn far and wide! Deploy turn-based strategies to attract adventurers to your inn using various tools. Time your tactics perfectly, keeping rival guilds apart while maximizing your inn's success. Manage carefully, prevent clashes, and watch your business thrive in this unique management game!

Sometimes, guild clashes are inevitable. If that happens right at your doorstep, you must keep your secret under wraps! Send in covert armored wisps to tip the scales in one guild's favor and reduce suspicion on your double-dealing. Keep the balance and ensure business flows from both sides!

Will you serve fine wine or black tea to your guests? How will you handle a rowdy guest who breaks your plates? Your decisions in these special situations will impact your inn's reputation and income—and could either quell or raise suspicions. Every choice counts in keeping your guests happy and your inn afloat!

A savvy innkeeper turns gold into more gold! Invest your hard-earned coins in exciting new facilities. Each upgrade attracts more guests, unlocks new events, and makes your inn the ultimate dungeon-side destination. Transform your humble tavern into a thriving adventurer's paradise and watch your profits soar!

August Devlog: A Brand-New Fame System

Greetings, Innkeepers! Welcome to the August devlog! Apologies for being a little late this time, we’ve been busy preparing for the upcoming full launch 💪Before we dive in, a quick reminder: Dungeon Inn is currently at its all-time lowest price until September 17! This is your final chance to grab the game at its Early Access price before the full release, so don’t miss out! This month, we’ve been working on some major balancing changes, including a complete overhaul of the Fame system. Let’s take a look! Refining Game BalanceAs we prepare for full release, we’ve been taking a comprehensive look at the game’s economy and progression. This includes reassessing the relative value of resources and adjusting costs and rewards of events throughout the game. We’ve also rebalanced how adventurers affect inn stats such as Fame, skills, and earnings when using rooms and facilities, as well as the requirements and costs for purchasing new inn installations.A lot of numbers go into finding the right balance! The table below is one of the internal documents we used to predict how each inn stat (Fame, Proficiency, Suspicion, Gold) would change when a single adventurer stays at the inn. By reviewing progression chapter by chapter, we hope to ensure that resources and rewards remain meaningful throughout the entire game 😊A Brand-New Fame SystemOne of the biggest changes this month is a complete overhaul of the Fame system.Previously, accumulating Fame filled the Fame Gauge and automatically granted bonuses. Following the revamp, this gauge will instead become the Token Acquisition Gauge.Whenever your accumulated Fame reaches certain thresholds, you’ll receive guild tokens to spend as you see fit. This revamp will increase the overall number of guild tokens players can earn, and players on Casual difficulty can earn even more tokens from quest rewards. But what can you do with all those extra tokens?More Choices in the Lobby With tokens becoming a bigger part of progression, we’re also...

July Devlog: The Art of Balancing Gameplay

Greetings, Innkeepers!Welcome to the July devlog. We've spent the past month polishing content and refining game balance, and we're excited to share our latest progress with you.New Master Adventurer EventsThis month, we completed a huge batch of content for the 16 new Master Adventurers planned for the full release. Here's what we've created:90 unique Happening events that occur during their visitsAdditional Dialogue events when adventurer requests are fulfilledNew illustrations for each ‘Happening’ event cardPersonal gifts that Master Adventurers can give to Sara and her friendsWe've also finished creating the game's ending sequence, including the credits!Rebalancing Happening EventsOur next major task is improving the balance of every Happening event in the game. (Shown below is an example of a Happening event.) As development progressed, we realised that rewards which felt meaningful early in the game became far less valuable later on. For example, 10 gold is much more impactful at the beginning of your journey than it is near the end.To keep rewards satisfying throughout the game, we'll be introducing event tiers.Take the Mountain Guild's cafés as an example. Currently, they are categorized by tier as follows:Ordinary Café (1-3)Roastery Café (1-3)Speciality Café (1-3)As players upgrade through the tiers, the rewards from their associated Happening events should naturally become more valuable. However, achieving this isn't as straightforward as simply increasing the numbers. This is because Dungeon Inn uses a relatively small range of values for rewards and inn stats, such as money, reputation, and suspicion. Simply increasing every reward with each upgrade wasn't practical, as there wasn't enough room to keep scaling the numbers. This is where introducing a tier system for Happening events helped immensely. We grouped Happening events into different tiers. In addition to increasing the reward values, we also adjusted the likelihood of different events occurring bas...

    June Devlog: The Blizzard Arrives

Greetings, Innkeepers!Welcome to the June devlog. We have some great news: the gameplay for Chapters 10 to 12 is now complete! Our current focus is on creating the remaining assets, including music, event CGs, and the finishing touches that will bring the final chapters to life.Previously in April, we introduced the first two winter mechanics: Snowdrifts and Icy Roads. This month, we'd like to reveal the final one…New Winter Mechanic: Blizzard The Blizzard is a key mechanic of Chapter 11, designed to create one of the toughest challenges in the game.In the world of Dungeon Inn, a fierce blizzard sweeps across the land for around ten days every winter. Despite the freezing temperatures, adventurers continue their journeys in pursuit of victory for their guilds.Unlike regular snowfall, where either a Snowdrift or an Icy Road appears each turn, blizzard days work differently.During a blizzard:1-2 Snowdrifts appear each turn and Icy Roads no longer appear.Every adventurer travelling outdoors gains 1 stack of Coldness at the start of each turn.If an adventurer reaches 5 stacks of Coldness without taking shelter, they will freeze to death. As such, the blizzard introduces a brand new quest type: Avoiding Freezing.Sara and her friends certainly have their work cut out for them, but we're confident you'll help them survive the harsh winter. How We Designed the BlizzardBalancing the Blizzard mechanic took a lot of testing.During development, we found that adventurers with only 2 movement points couldn't reliably survive a blizzard, so they won't spawn at all on blizzard days. We also reduced Snowdrift generation from 2-3 to 1-2 per turn, as the original version proved too punishing even for average-speed adventurers. We hope the final result strikes a good balance between challenge and fairness. 😊What's Next? With the gameplay complete, our next priority is finishing the remaining assets, preparing translation reference documents and playing through the entire game from Chapters...
