In Kill A Million Rats, you'll explore a randomly generated forest as the Spirit of Vengeance. Defend villages and expand your base to outsmart the rat horde.
About this game
The Rats are invading the forest, and you are the SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE! Your objective is simple: EXPLORE the valley, EXPLOIT its resources, EXPAND your village, and EXTERMINATE the endless horde of Rats!

You are a powerful Spirit of Vengeance, capable of cutting down thousands of Rats with your magical powers. But you cannot do this alone: you will need to harvest resources to construct buildings and recruit a variety of allies, in order to defeat the enemy and achieve victory!

Explore a randomly generated world! Each time you start a new game, you will discover a unique combination of powers, resources, enemies, buildings and allies. Build up your village then protect the villagers from the forces of the mighty Rat King! The rogue-lite nature of the game ensures that your options and challenges are always interesting and constantly evolving.

Save the innocent animals of the forest and rally them to your cause! Adorable bunnies, mice, cats, dogs, pigs, stags, bears, monkeys, birds and more: each and every one is lovingly hand-drawn and brought to life by Nerdook in his signature cute & colorful style.

An action-packed blend of the base-building and strategy genres.
A procedurally-generated world to explore in each game.
A lot of Rats to kill in many satisfying ways. Seriously, there are a lot of Rats.
Dozens of powers to choose from: upgrade each one of them to kill even more Rats!
Intuitive controls, supporting keyboard, mouse, or controller: it's your choice!

Update 1.0.0.4 is now available!
Hello everyone! I've been working hard on a big content update for "Kill a Million Rats", and it's finally live! Here's a list of the major changes: New Combat ProgressionInstead of obtaining a single combat upgrade at the start of each wave, you now collect experience orbs (in classic survivor-style) from dead rats. The total number of upgrades over a single run has been increased due to this, so I've added a bunch of smaller repeatable upgrades too! Boss Behavior OverhaulGiant Rats no longer have automatic invulnerability windows at HP thresholds! All their attacks have also now been reworked to encompass a wider variety of special attacks. Fighting these guys should now feel much more challenging but fair. Villager BuffVillagers have been buffed to be much sturdier, and can take a lot more damage before going down. Village Bell HP BarI've added a HP bar for the Village Bell in the upper right corner, so it should be easier to determine how much damage it's taken. Putting it together with your own HP/Hearts makes it easier to tell your current position at a glance. Let me know in the comments if you enjoyed this free content update, or if you have any suggestions for future improvements! Lots of love,-nerdookRead full article on Community Announcements (nerdook)AnnouncementsOfficial

Kill a Million Rats will be available on 16 January 2025!
Greetings, Villagers: Good news... 'Kill a Million Rats' is now ready for release, and will be launched on 16 January 2025! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44512579/b55237e1c618c3000e6acd79672d83e923b2ebcf.png I've been making games solo for a long time now, releasing my first Flash game way back in 2007... the goal has always been to continue trying something new and interesting with every release. 'Kill a Million Rats' is a base-building roguelite strategy game, and it will be my 6th game on Steam. My deepest gratitude to you and all the other players, for playing the demo, for sharing feedback and suggestions, and for your support throughout the years. Without the players, none of this would have ever been possible, so THANK YOU. I hope everyone will enjoy this game as much as I've enjoyed making it! New Demo Uploaded!
THANK YOU for all the feedback you've shared so far! I've made some changes to the demo (now version 0.9.7.3): - Rats now attack daily - Seasons have been shortened to 5 days each - A brand new Magic Rune system: basically upgradeable tiles that can be inscribed with additional symbols over time. It combines the previous Summoning and Power Boost systems into a unified combat system that is tactical, intuitive and (most importantly) much more fun Thanks again for all the players who spent time playing and wish-listing the game, I really appreciate all the support and will continue working hard on improving the game!! -nerdookRead full article on Community Announcements (nerdook)
