About this game

hoptix is a movement playground game inspired by classic speed platformers, arcade skateboarding games, and platform fighters.

Features

  • Responsive, expressive movement: Use a variety of movement techniques, from walljumps to doublejumps to railgrinds to airdodges to traverse levels your way. Stop on a dime at any speed.
  • Wavedashing: We have it.
  • Built-in Gif camera: Easily record your gameplay in-game and generate a social media-friendly .gif file. Show off to your friends with no hassle!

hoptix is a bit more like a walking simulator, or the free roam mode of an arcade skateboarding game, than a traditional platformer. It's all about exploring, racing, and stunting through exciting, but peaceful environments at your own pace. It's also very easy and beginner-friendly to clear any level, and has no enemies or "death pits." hoptix doesn't want anything getting between you and the way you want to play, and invites you to find your own challenges and goals.

hoptix is for people who:

  • enjoy other momentum-based platformers
  • are intrinsically motivated by movement and style
  • have thoughts like "Can I get through this room without touching the ground?"

hoptix is a very short game, with a single playthrough only having a runtime of about an hour, however it's a game that's meant to be replayed! Each level features multiple different routes and many opportunities to express your own personal style through its movement mechanics and obstacles.

hoptix: Tower of Targets, a free update, out today!

After hoptix launched, we realized there was just one more thing that felt like it needed to be in the game... and got right to work! We're expanding our second least controversial feature (right after a certain gravity-changing camera-spinning gimmick), target breaking tests! There's lots to explore in the main path, but what target-terrorizing game is complete without a side-mode full of more traditional, small-scale bonus trials? hoptix: Tower of Targets features 10 brand new EX-stages, featuring a variety of different level design approaches that wouldn't have fit the core game: some are more difficult, some are more linear, and some are just a little wackier. These are also playable in Free Ride mode, for those who'd prefer to just get their paws on a handful of new sandboxes! To unlock the new stages, you'll need to find and complete Moondust Conservatory Track 2, so keep an eye out in Track 1 if you haven't nabbed the unlock CD! Also: as a reward for completing each of the new stages in Classic or Time Trial mode, you'll unlock 4 new dye styles inspired by certain late game areas! And speaking of spinning camera gimmicks: we've added a new "Reduced Camera Motion" setting in the options menu to attempt to address the problems some of our players have had with a certain later game level. While disabling the camera effect entirely would have rendered the level very difficult to play, we're hoping the new visual transition is a little easier on the eyes for those who are sensitive to this type of motion.Rounding out the changes, hoptix: Tower of Targets comes with a handful of fixes for rare physics edge-cases (as well as a few pesky UI or sprite layering bugs...), so the game should feel more solid than ever! As always, thanks for playing hoptix!

It's bandcamp Friday! + What are we up to?

Happy Friday rad rabbits! Today's the first bandcamp Friday since the full release of hoptix! For those who don't know, bandcamp Friday is a day where bandcamp takes a generous 0% cut of all music sales, and every dollar goes to support your favorite artists (give or take payment processing fees...)Which means if you enjoyed the soundtrack to hoptix, today's a great day to pick it up over on our bandcamp page! All proceeds go directly to our wonderful team musician, so it's a great way to show some appreciation. The soundtrack is available here as well, for those of you who prefer building your music library here on Steam! What else is up?We mentioned earlier that we couldn't help but get to work on one last thing for hoptix, post release. I won't spoil the surprise just yet, but it's a little something extra that we felt the best possible, most deluxe version of this game should include... And it's about 85% done! As always, we're a tiny team, and anything can happen, but hoptix 1.1 should be ready for launch within the next month, so get excited for our little post launch bonus adventure! Finally, some cool moves from the team:As always, thanks for playing hoptix!
