Demo Update 0.3.1
Development on MOONSHIRE is going great! This batch of updates includes some awesome quality-of-life and customization improvements: Using dyes, you can now recolor specific parts of your outfit! Head, Body, Feet, Eyes, and Belly - any dye can be used on any part, which gives you tons of options to customize your character! To help out with this, the game now starts you off with the White and Red dyes. Assist options are now available in the settings menu. You can adjust things like your maximum health, your weapon damage, your movement speed, and even the entire game's speed! To make things easier for testing things out, feel free to use the new debug menu! Using "Ctrl + Alt + D", you can warp to any location, and spawn any weapon, enemy, or item. The jewelry has been reworked - throughout the game you can now find diamonds as a resource. There are certain locations in the game that let you trade a diamond for a gemstone (ruby, topaz, sapphire, etc), each granting a unique benefit. This is similar to the jewelry abilities, but these new gemstones are a permanent upgrade that you do not need to equip/unequip. The main-menu got some improvements, with some new animated sprites, better organization, and extra details shown in the 'continue' menu. The lightning rod got reworked, where it is now explosive without needing a charge attack. Destructible objects (like boxes, furniture, etc) can now have resources inside. Any resources will eventually respawn after 10 minutes, like the other resource spawns. Lots of sound effects have been adjusted to be less annoying.Read full article on Community Announcements (Challacade)Patch NotesOfficial
MOONSHIRE Demo Update 0.3.0
It's been awhile since the last Steam update! The game is coming along nicely, and after many major updates, I felt like it earned a version bump to 0.3.0! This update has a major focus on overall presentation (graphics and visual improvements), level layouts, resource collection, and tutorials. Here's a full list of everything that's changed since last time: Complete world layout overhaul! The game is more linear to start off, providing much better tutorials for dodging and healing. The town and surrounding areas have all been redone. The cave is now located after the tutorials are finished, connecting the town to the ruins. The flower worm boss is now treated as a 'final boss' for the demo, requiring all other content to be completed before you can fight it. Overall, the overall progression of the game makes a lot more sense! No more boring coins… instead, you'll find resources all around the game! These are meant to be quick and easy to pick up - seeds fall from trees, exploding rocks reveal some ore, chests contain gold, and water sources have plenty of fish! Each of these resources have their own function, and each spawn point operates on a 10 minute timer, meaning it's always beneficial to go back through previously visited areas. The newly designed cave now features an updated entry into the fight with Eyeris, as well as some improvements to the fight itself. After the fight, you'll be introduced to a few new mechanics involving the seeds, as well as the first climbable wall. There are now a bunch of interactable props, including boxes, pots, shelves, logs, and barrels, which burst apart when you hit them with an attack! Ambience (environmental) sounds, like wind and rain, are now added to the overall mix and can be adjusted in the settings menu. More movement in the environment, especially the animated trees! The torch has been reworked to longer use ammo. Instead, it visually indicates when it's able to shoot fire, which reforms after a cooldown. Several ne...Read full article on Community Announcements (Challacade)Patch NotesOfficial
0.2.5a Bugfixes
Thank you for helping with testing the MOONSHIRE demo! With the recent update came some newly found bugs, and this patch fixes the following: After riding an elevator, anytime you open the pause menu it would teleport you back to the elevator's position, regardless of the room you're in. Carrying a weapon and then exiting to the menu would cause bugged weapon stacking. To help with Steam debugging, the main menu now displays if the Steam account connection is successful when the game launches. Minor additional changes, the lightning rod charge attack now has the same ability as the update video.Read full article on Community Announcements (Challacade)Patch NotesOfficial
MOONSHIRE Demo Update 0.2.5
Tons of updates on the way! The MOONSHIRE demo is always being updated with new content, and for the next couple updates, I'll be focusing on making the early parts of the game as polished as possible. The first dungeon (the cloud area) was my focus in this update, as well as some new core mechanics. Charge attacks! All weapons now have unique charge attacks, which can be performed by holding down the attack button. Some weapons launch projectiles, some unleash powerful swings, and some will be necessary to complete the first dungeon. The layout of the cloud dungeon has been completely redone. The moving platforms are much easier to understand, and things are generally more interesting than before. Two new weapons, and the lightning rod has been reworked to be more fun to use. Improvements to the cloud dungeon boss, including new attacks, animations, a proper intro cutscene, and a unique death scene, leading more naturally into the reward. Additionally, the reward has a better explanation on how to use. The dungeon now has a simple story to go along with it, which is told through a new NPC that can be found early in the area. The dialogue helps a ton with providing a sense of direction on what to do. The dialogue tree of this NPC is relatively complicated, and a new backend NPC and dialogue format was made to help make this process seamless in the future. NPCs can now remember specific details about previous conversations, and it's much easier to create new conversations and choices. Achievements! Or, I should say, just the first achievement - attach a gemstone to any piece of jewelry. It's a great milestone to have Steam features connected to the game, and the APIs are fully functional!Read full article on Community Announcements (Challacade)AnnouncementsOfficial
