Keyframes lets you shape your final two years of college through chance meetings and custom choices, guiding your character’s story in a partially customizable amare visual novel.
About this game
An amare visual novel that focuses on what some have described as the “second” coming-of-age, the ephemeral nature of relationships and the work it requires to understand and empathize with one another.
Experience life as it happens, each chapter defined by the events and choices you make for yourself.
Play as one of four total personality types, changing aspects of your personality as the game continues. Forge close friendships, distance yourself from specific characters, bring in even more new faces, or choose love— that is, if you want to. Between an intricate system of impressions that depend on both the player’s decisions and a chosen combination of events and experience, no one playthrough will be quite like the others.
FEATURES
Hundreds of variations established via player choices
Play 3 of 5 possible events, in any order you choose (for a total of 60 possible combinations)
1+ CG per event (with variations based on in-game choices)
Partial voice acting & original BGM
In-story UI— use your phone to select events and text/call with other characters
Quick time events (input-based and timed-choice) for added variability
Dynamic relationships— not only do you choose your perceptions of other characters, but other characters also change their impressions of you based on your words and actions
Reactive storytelling— dialogue and narration change in response to previously played events

First Summer Release Announcement
It is the team’s optimistic goal to release the first ever commercial update to Keyframes by the end of this quarter, as many of you have already seen through Steam’s personal wishlist page. But while the summer season nears its end, production for First Summer still has a ways to go. As such, we will be postponing the release date for the update to November 30th, 2026 at the latest. The team has seen the excitement mounting within the community, and we know this news will disappoint the most eager of players (especially those who are preparing for a return to the start of a new semester) as it did us. However, it would be highly remiss of us to rush production at this point and deliver anything less than a fun, fulfilling summer break.Despite the news, we truly can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on this past year and a half! Since the start, there’s been unbelievable growth to the team in terms of our identity, workflow, and vision, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far we’ve come. And so, before we return to work on what remains of the update, we want to give a quick update to our players!First… the logistics! The above graphic is a quick glance of what’s left for the release. A lot of the art we had planned is pretty much finished, with very few still left on our plate— such as some clothing variations for old and new characters, and a couple of CGs.On the flip side, there’s still a fair bit of content to write for the game, and subsequently programming. The good news is that what remains for writing at this point are two events we call “canon” events. They’re essentially the biggest events in the game with the more convoluted variations to manage, the most characters involved, and the most scenes. Currently, there’s over 60k words written between these two events, and we’re expecting to decimate another 60k before calling it a wrap!As we write, finished sections simultaneously get programmed into the build to save time, and at the moment a third of the co...Read full article on Community Announcements (uptousinteractive)
