About this game

SUMMERHOUSE is a small-scale building game and a love letter to the feeling of long lost summer afternoons.

Craft a neighbourhood of tiny, beautiful lived-in homes in a variety of settings: the sea, the city, or the mountains. While there are some little secrets to uncover, there are no rules, and you can’t win or lose. Just chill out, build to your heart’s content and soak up the atmosphere.

If relaxation and creation are your thing, this is a game for you :)

Please keep in mind that this is a small game with no goals or challenges, created by a single person🙂

Announcing my next game - Slots & Daggers!

Hey guys, Friedemann here 👋 As Summerhouse fans, I wanted to share my next game with you... Slots & Daggers! After SUMMERHOUSE, I wanted to make something radically different. Something faster, with numbers, fights and goblins! The result is this, a strange little blend of slot machine and fantasy RPG. To make this game I combined a lot of things I deeply love – weird fantasy worlds, crude drawings of strange little guys, old school crunchy hiphop drum machines and addictive arcade games that go “PLING PLING PLING” as they spit out little coins – with classic roguelike mechanics. What to look forward to:🎰 Fun slot machine🌍 Weird fantasy world🧌 Crude drawings of strange little guys🖥️ Retro visuals🎹 Crunchy hip hop drum machines🎶 Addictive arcade gameplay that goes “pling” a lot‼️ Numbers! Fights! Goblins! A big shoutout and thank you to ‘Games Forged in Germany’ Steam Event who collaborated with me on this announcement, be sure to go check it out here. I was so happy to be included in this fantastic event showcasing German games! I hope you have a good time with Slots & Daggers ♥️Cheers, Friedemann

    Bug Fixes & QoL Improvements

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44441571/3754fd98104a2e45f92522990ad2b111e7c7c11e.png First Update! Hi SUMMERHOUSE players! First of all: Thank you! The launch of this game has been an incredible experience, thanks for playing my little game, thanks for telling your friends about it and thanks for sharing your creations with me and other players! I'm really grateful for how positive and friendly the community around this game has been and I'm happy to see that the majority of you seem to be having a good time with SUMMERHOUSE. Making a game by yourself is a pretty exhausting project and I've taken some time off to recover, but here's the first SUMMERHOUSE update! There's going to be new building blocks in future updates, but that's still going to take a moment, so thanks for being patient with me! Here are the change notes: Added cross plattform Steam Cloud Save support, including for Steam Deck (users might get a one time cloud-save conflict, sorry about that, it's unfortunately unavoidable) Implemented a tutorial for hiding the UI with "H" Fixed "J" and "K" buttons switching maps. This was a debug option I accidentally shipped Destruction mode gets blocked by UI elements, no more accidentally deleting blocks when clicking a button Fixed camera shake bug that would slowly offset the camera position and could lead to camera moving outside of bounds Fixed Steam Cloud Save support for unlocked characters Characters unlocked in the game's demo should now count towards achievement progress Eyedropper button switches back to random modes after picking item Building Block Gallery remembers last scrolling position That's it! Please continue letting me know if you find any issues in the game, I'm going to be working on the next update. Thanks again for being an incredibly kind community, I hope you continue to have a great time with SUMMERHOUSE! Cheers, Friedemann

A beautiful new indie sandbox game just hit Steam, and I'm mesmerized

Every once in a while, a game comes along that's so beautiful it stops you in your tracks. Sometimes it's for sheer visual fidelity; the likes of Crysis, Skyrim, Final Fantasy, and Red Dead Redemption 2 all come to mind for their jaw-dropping looks at launch. Other times, it's all in the art style; Tunic, Outer Wilds, The Witness, Hollow Knight - and now Summerhouse, a bite-size building game all about perfecting pretty properties, made by just one person and out now on Steam. Even just the first images caught my eye, but seeing it in motion is really something special. Read the rest of the story...
