About this game
Navigate through interactions with competing powers to lead your nation to global domination in this 4X open sandbox geopolitical sim set in post-WW2 alt-history world. You have 251 years at your disposal to conquer and unify the planet or take your nation into space. Can you make it?
Unleash your geopolitical prowess on a global scale. Create your own history by playing a time period commencing shortly after the end of WW2 and stretching far into the future. Your goal: unite the world under your control by eradicating your rivals or becoming an out of reach hegemon. Or choose an alternative path and open the way for an ambitious space exploration mission.
SHAPE THE WORLD THROUGH GEOPOLITICAL INTERACTIONS
Grow and apply your geopolitical power to compete for influence over neutral nations and annexing them to your expanding dominion. Liberate enemy nations from their shackles or play a darker hand and establish puppet governments to further your ambitions. Enhance your geopolitical influence by projecting economic, military or external power, enabling more advanced interactions in these domains.
BUILD A UNIQUE NATION AS YOU PLAY
Establish your nation with initial traits determined by its association with a particular civilization and ideology. As you progress over 251 years, your other choices will further shape a distinct nation with its own unique traits.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Bolster your nation's geopolitical standing, economy, military, and external power projection by strategically allocating resources to develop your provinces and expand your global market share.
TECHNOLOGY
Explore real-world technologies from the latter half of the 20th and early 21st century, along with futuristic sci-fi advancements, to enhance your geopolitical, resource management and space exploration abilities.
SPACE RACE
Secure victory through an alternative route: embark on a space exploration mission rather than pursuing global dominance on Earth. Achieve this by utilizing a distinct space exploration mechanic, collecting vital unique space artifacts across the map, advancing space technology and constructing an exploratory spacecraft.
MAP EDITOR
Use map editor to craft your initial scenario, whether it involves pre-setting countries for a historical start or migrating your mega campaign from another grand strategy map game.

UI work is progressing
Reskinning the game to new UI is progressing well, I have updated steam page screenshots and trailer to show the new art style. More updates will happen iteratively. Check it out and let me know what you think! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44425820/575d0c16080c018f1d913275473ea85a0efd8376.png I have also removed the demo version of the game because it no longer reflects the current state of the game. As soon as the new UI is applied to all parts of the game and new mechanics around civilizations and other parts are polished I will release a newer version of the demo! Updates describing the coming game functions and features will resume soon, stay tuned! Yours, Alex FenekRead full article on Community Announcements (Alex Fenek)AnnouncementsOfficial
Happy New Year and more news!
This year is coming to an end soon and I wanted to use this time to say thank you for your interest, wishlists and following of my humble journey in making Geopolaris! This year in January I have released the first demo containing the core flow of the game with influence, puppet, annex and develop world regions while competing with your opponents for the world dominance. Later this year in September it was followed with an updated demo that introduced additional geopolitical interactions that increase the chance of winning an enemy region as well as 3 additional point types and ways to generate them. After that I focused on two tracks - 1) working with a designer on revamping the game art and UI and 2) further developing new core mechanics of the game. It took more time to work with art and UI than I anticipated and this work is still ongoing and will take some more time. In parallel I have implemented the foundations for civilizations and ideologies and I continue to add more mechanics around this block. Moreover, civilizations will become one of the most important pillars in the game, since the game is inspired by the clash of civilizations theme. Since the game is already in transition between the old UI and new UI it makes no sense to release new mechanics in this half baked visual look, so while the UI work continues I will be developing even more mechanics (such as diplomacy, ages & technology). So by the time UI part is done you should expect a bigger release which will bring demo to a new level of depth. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44425820/20e6c2cab16ddf0c6ebc7f07e4cedced4936ba2e.png I really hope this will be doable sometime Q1-Q2 next year, so stay tuned! Looking forward to next year and what it has to bring, Alex FenekRead full article on Community Announcements (Alex Fenek)AnnouncementsOfficial
Demo v0.2 is live
The updated demo discussed in the previous diaries is out now and ready to be played! Go ahead and download it from Steam or refresh the already downloaded version in your Steam library and let me know your feedback! I am starting the development of the next update that will introduce such new concepts as civilizations and ideologies to further extend the variability of the gameplay and strategies. More on these concepts in the coming updates. I am also working with a designer in parallel on the UI redesign. So a visual update is coming as well. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44425820/e61e9bc553186c178f8f62d341b968d313375955.png New map concept Have a nice weekend! Forthcoming updated demo (0.2) - functionality pt2
This is the final update before new demo update is released. I realized I should start naming and numbering versions of demo updates being released to avoid confusion. This time I have no good idea for naming the demo (join discord and help me out ːsteammockingː) but at least I can tell the version number is 0.2. Doing some final polishing and testing and if nothing big pops up aiming at releasing it by the end of this / beginning of next week. And now to the contents of this week's update. New Military, Economic and Foreign power In the previous update I have presented additional geopolitical interactions that you can apply in order to increase the chance to flip a target region to fit your agenda (e.g. puppet or liberate). These geopolitical interactions are either from the military, economic or foreign policy domains. And they cost military, economic or foreign power respectively. So how to get your hands on these 3 new resources? Easily. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44425820/f550b622aebefa273dba6cfe96cbf6207122ae9e.png In the new "Power Projection Generation" section in the region details form you have the possibility to boost any of the three power generation by spending your geopolitical (geo) power. The base cost currently is 10 geo power for each +1 mil/econ/foreign power generation boost. Every time you boost any of the powers to +10 generation level - the further boost cost decreases by 1. For example if your economy power generation level is +10 in a particular region, the further boost cost would be 9 instead of 10. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44425820/b2ecbb0d198fd0336fc057e24085be4331e4339c.png It is possible to get the cost down to 5 that way where it stays capped. This incentive can encourage you to play centralizing your power generation in specific regions, however this increases the risk when losing this region. Therefore decentralizing or centralizing your mil/econ/foreign power generation is going to be based on your strategy. In the future versions there could be...Read full article on Community Announcements (Alex Fenek)AnnouncementsOfficial
Forthcoming updated demo - functionality pt1
Geopolaris is a game that models geopolitical interactions between world powers. With the coming demo this part of the game gets enhanced and in this week's update I will describe in more details how it is going to work. The game world is divided into 50 regions. Every region by default is either neutral or belongs to one of the players (representing world powers). Regions owned by players can either be fully integrated core regions (basically part of the country) or puppet regions (semi-autonomous regions run by their puppet governments). At some point a puppet region can be annexed to become a core region, thus become part of the country. Competing powers try to make a region (neutral, puppet or core) shift from its default status quo into a state of leaning towards a certain player. When the region is leaning towards a specific player it means this region is acceptive to player's attempt to win this region over. Region that is leaning towards a player, does it with a certain flipping chance %. When flipping chance hits - a region changes its allegiance. If a neutral region or enemy puppet was leaning towards you - after a successful flip these type of regions become your puppets. If successful flip occurred in an enemy core region that was leaning towards you - such region gets liberated by your effort and becomes neutral again. So how does a player get a region to start leaning and eventually flip to his side? In the upcoming demo this will happen following a 2-tier process. Make region leaning towards you You do this by exercising influence over the target region (costing you geopolitical power). {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44425820/3eccac7c78c46fee7b24cc367f1d925b6728c81b.png The amount of influence you need to exercise to force a region to lean towards you depends on two factors. First of all you need to overcome region's resistance level. The region in the below image has resistance of 3, so you have to throw at least 4 influence to overcome it. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44...Read full article on Community Announcements (Alex Fenek)
