In Bellfortis, guide your medieval realm with political cunning and military might. Expand your territory on grand maps or explore smaller arenas, making strategic decisions that shape your dynasty's fate.
About this game
Choose one side, stabilize your country, subjugate the surrounding rulers and build a strong and successful empire in this history inspired strategy game from the wild times of the early Middle Ages, when the first European kingdoms were trying to strengthen their power and resist the raids of savage tribes from the east and north.

How you achieve this is up to you - destroy your enemies by force or by clever politics and help those in need to win friends who will support you and will be devoted to you. Bellfortis combines a tactical turn-based map with realtime action combat.
This game is made by a lover of the Middle Ages and strategies like Total War: Medieval II, but also Crusader Kings III or the old Defender of the Crown or Centurion, which it is inspired by. But unlike Total War, the gameplay is much more intense and faster, with arcade battles and designed as an indie alternative for people who don't always have hundreds of hours to play (like the author himself :)

Game features:
Transform yourself into a powerful ruler, play the game as a grand strategy, build provinces, recruit strong armies, conquer territories by force or clever politics.
Use diplomats to improve relations, gain allies or even entire kingdoms. Spies, in turn, can help you gain information or even weaken the enemy.
Take on opponents who make strategic decisions based on individual behavior. Some will be peaceful and focus on the betterment of their empire, others will act like dangerous conquerors.
The world is affected by dozens of random events, some of which may have a positive effect on you, others negative. You can ignore them or use them to your advantage. Although ignoring the plague is probably not a good solution.. ;)
Unlock new military units by constructing important military buildings in your provinces. Recruit them into your armies and use them in devastating battles.
You culminate your efforts by winning real-time battles, where your armies clash with the enemy's in the heat of battle on the battlefield. Choose clever tactics or simply send your troops on the offensive.
If you're defending, use defensive objects received from research. What will barrels full of oil and your incendiary arrows do to enemy soldiers? Experiment! :)
Enjoy the game! :)

Update 1.4.1
Hi! Update 1.4.1 fixes several bugs, such as the GUI "crashing" when an enemy captures your active province. Most importantly, however, it introduces a new video library, which should resolve issues for players who were unable to launch the game due to dual monitors, non-standard resolutions and similar issues. Along with this release, the modding version has also been updated - the open data file now includes a dedicated executable that allows for the compilation of mods, and the game demo has also been updated to the latest game version. I’d appreciate any feedback! Thanks for the support! Pavel "Tovy", Rake in Grass..Read full article on Community Announcements (RakeInGrass)Patch NotesOfficial
Update 1.3.4
Hi friends! The new 1.3.4 update is primarily technical - it improves gamepad controls. The controls have been redesigned, with the addition of help menus, a gamepad window, and more. Why gamepad controls for a strategy game? The game should be playable on the couch, and I hope it works even better on the Steam Deck (which has touchpad controls set as the default, so if you want to control the game using only a gamepad, you'll need to switch to it). It’s also the first step toward a possible console port. This might not seem interesting to PC gamers, but it means I'm not giving up on the game just yet! :)Apart from that, the update only brings minor changes, such as a slight decrease of morale of bowmen in the China DLC or fixes of reported errors in production calculations. Update 1.3 and DLC from China
Dear friends,I’ve finally decided to add a support pack DLC to my game Bellfotris. But I didn’t want to just give my supporters some small, trivial thing, so I decided to include an entirely new historical conflict and everything that goes with it - including new map, factions and units. This DLC takes us to China, specifically to the first half of the 10th century, known as "Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms". It’s a very interesting period in Chinese history, when many small kingdoms fought for prosperity and power. Unfortunately, my budget was VERY limited and it’s possible that the support DLC will be the exact opposite :D, but I'm glad I was able to create it and hope you’ll enjoy it. I've always wanted to make a game based on Chinese history. It may not be a game, but the DLC counts too! :) What's new?New DLC set in 10th-century China, during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. Includes 1 map and 5 factions. The action and event menus has been enlarged to make the text more readable.Fixed inaccurate production totals displayed in province details, which were caused by rounding.Fixed low flag visibility during combat for Japanese and some European units. If you are in an alliance with someone, the chance of them attacking you has been reduced. The same applies if you have excellent relations with someone. In battle, the number of projectiles is now displayed for ranged units in the unit information window. The arrow keys now move the map without toggling buttons in the GUI.A few small improvements and bug fixed.
