Explore a world where friendship is tested and ancient vampires lurk in Non-Fellows, an adventure game from Fireshade Studios that combines the charm of old-school point-and-click puzzles with a fresh take on zombie city exploration.

About this game

A chance meeting can't lead to a long-lasting friendship. Or can it?

While there is little in common between these four young people, but the life throws all the kind of adventures they have to brave together:
  • Find out how a pieceful town suddenly became full of zombies
  • Discover an ancient vampire, who is definitely looking for human sacrifices
  • Get into the university, even though you probably couldn't pass an exam in your life

The game includes all 3 episodes of classical 2011 point-and-click adventure game, and features light-hearted script, bright anumesque art, full voiceover and several mini-games.

Characters

A little blonde angel, who will be sweet and smiling until you accidentally spoil her hairdo – or stain her new blouse at the cost of a new car.

She loves her old Harley Davidson and… and, well, nothing except that. She can solve most of her problems on her own and hates asking anyone for help. She also hates the ones who cause those problems.

Calm to phlegmatism, he is difficult to surprise or upset. He treats girls with a slight allowance, but as a true gentleman he is always eager to help them. This feature, however, often collides with his laziness.

He is always good-looking and good-mannered. Being everybody’s favourite, he uses this circumstance shamelessly. Not everyone is sure if he can feel shame at all, though. On the other hand, he’s got money and insolence.

Finally, we've finished the testing and ready to share the game with you. It was a rough month, and I would like to thank everyone who was a part of this game - both back then 12 years ago and now; as well as our friends and families who helped us in our work. We hope you'll forgive 'Non-fellows' their shortcomings, and will like the game. This game was a start of a tough path into a world of a game development, and it marks the return to this path now. And I hope there will be a lot of fun along this path ahead. We wish you a nice game, your 'Non-fellows' team.

    Devlog #3

This week, we've finsihed the recovery of the game, and started the longest and tirestome process of the development - the testing. Unfortunately, because of the nature of the engine, aging codebase and some poor decisions in the past, we can not fix all the bugs - we hope you'll understand. After all, the game is 12 years old by now. Nonetheless, we'll try to resolve as much problems as possible and make the game more convenient for modern players. We'll also try to release additional patches later on, if there will be some more problems. As I've player through the game times and times again, I was flooded by the old memories. When you participate literally in everything, you start to memorize every little aspect of the game. "Beast, oh Beast, please, help me, it won’t be a bother!" "I work here... as an admin", "It’s so simple – and you don’t have to queue on!" Somehow, I remember people's voices the best, and so one of the strongest experiences was the time I've spent at recording studio. I never would expected that some phrases are assembled from tens of takes, literally from words. We've all discovered something new back then. Of cause, lot of stuff which was normal back then, or appeared normal back then, does not work anymore. Playing through the game I've understood that some jokes might be edgy at best by now - so we've added a warning: don't behave as our character does. After all, the game was supposed to be an irony on then-contemporary culture. A lot has changed since then, and we've changed as well. If "Non-fellows" will prove to be popular, we'd like to reboot the idea - we still have some materials. Meanwhile, we've got at least two games in production we hope to finish soon. And now - I'll get back to the testing. We hope that the game will be released in September, as 12 years ago - and this will be the good present both to our team and to our players.

Recovering a game made over ten years ago is quite a testing task. One of the biggest mistake we made 12 years ago, is to write a game using components which was losing popularity even back then. Now those components are niche at best. They have changed its licensing scheme, they've changed the way they're used in your program. Luckily, it turned out to be possible to build an old version with modern instruments, however, it took some time. Much bigger problem was lack of any single repository with game source files, both the program code and media assets. Actually, for an entire first week I was sifting through my old HDDs looking for materials and trying to assemble some sort of frankenstein. Some files were lost forever, so I had to adapt the source code to the new reality. Other files were from different game versions, and I had to change them greatly so they'd work together. Despite the process taking much more time than expected, yesterday I finally was able to finish all three chapters of the game, even though there are some bugs remaining. And now we can say with the confidence - the game will be there for you.
