Pet challenges you to guide a character through familiar yet eerie surroundings, making tough decisions as you attempt to return home and care for your cat in this 2023 release from beepsoft industries.
About this game
Pet is a horror visual novel about being in a city after a fun day out and how sometimes you gotta get home to take care of your cat.
It's a late night on an unseasonably warm day. On your way home to feed your cat Kuma, you stumble upon a vending machine in a dark alley.
This game should take around 60 minutes to complete.
As this is meant to be played in one setting, you cannot manually save. The game does save between endings, so if you close while at the main menu, you can pick up where you left off, but there's no way to save during each playthrough.
There are no jump scares but there are some light visual effects like screen tearing and glitches.
Features:
~7k words
working vending machine
4(?) distinct endings depending on player choice

Pet for one penny when you buy Start Running
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44389106/ec58821a5a2cc133e4716bad12cc0f32adfe15ea.png With the release of Start Running, my second game on Steam, I've made a bundle that combines both Pet and Start Running into a "buy one get the other for a penny" deal. Start Running is a much longer adventure that combines point and click, escape room, visual novel, and horror game. It's still in Ren'Py, but it pushes the engine a lot further than Pet did, since I gained so many more skills in the last year. After doing game development for the last 18 months, I'm super proud of both of these games, and am on to my next project. Check out the bundle if you want to grab both games. Thanks, as always, for your support!Read full article on Community Announcements (beepsalt)AnnouncementsOfficial

In anticipation of my next game, Start Running, releasing in the next month or two, I'm lowering the price of Pet to $1.99 from now on. I appreciate everyone who has been able to buy the game, and if you haven't had a chance to check it out, I hope you can now. Thank you again for playing it!Read full article on Community Announcements (beepsalt)AnnouncementsOfficial

Pet releasing on Steam August 2nd!
Hi everyone! Pet is going to be released on Steam on August 2nd, 2023. I first released Pet in March 2023. The process to get on Steam took me a few months. Some of it was having to get over the hurdle of the fear of the process. It's a lot more complicated than other platforms might be, and I also had to add things like achievements and make a bunch of additional content for promotion. Adding achievements was easier than I thought it would be, and I think the ones I've added will reward exploration and also finding all endings. My biggest fear in releasing Pet is regarding the length of the game: exploring all of Pet and getting all endings should take around an hour if you go through and read all the text, and that's shorter than the refund amount for a game. In the process of development, I waffled between trying to figure out how to make the game "longer" and how to make the game good. There's a lot of FMV games where moving between places takes a while as the world turns and the player sits patiently, but I don't think that's helpful for this game. I chose instead to just let the game transition quickly. Over all, I'm still very happy with the choices I made with Pet, the small updates I made to launch on Steam, and I'm excited to see what other people think. Pet is eventually going to be the first entry in a trilogy. My husband and I have been working on the second game in the series, Start Running, which is about 50% done. Thank you so much for checking this out, and I am excited for people to get to play it on Steam on August 2nd.Read full article on Community Announcements (beepsalt)
