Embark on a quest to find Maphaldo in Mystic Land, an old-school RPG where strategic combat and exploration meet. Navigate 2D grid-based worlds filled with challenges and secrets.
About this game
The game saw a couple of attempts to be born back then, but it wasn’t to be. Partly because we were just too young and “green” back then, partly because, you know, “life happens”… we drifted apart, started our professional jobs and other ventures. You know, we grew up.
But, after more than 25 years, we found all them early unfinished DOS versions, maps, concept art and documentation lying on old disks collecting dust. We also found a lot of sketches and ideas on paper (that miraculously survived the 25+ years).
And so the decision was made - it’s time to develop this thing.
We are still determined that Mystic Land will be the best old-school computer fantasy role playing game with all the goodies from the 90s like turn based grid movement and combat, lots of (meaningful) skills and attributes and (hard) puzzled to solve.
Saying that, we will also add some quality-of-life improvements like full controller/mouse/keyboard support and easier inventory and battle strategy management.

Release Date Change (game and demo)
MegaVision team held a meeting this weekend to discuss the release dates for both the game and the demo.Unfortunately, we will need a bit more time to make sure we can deliver a fully finished and polished game - one that is as bug-free, balanced, and fun to play as possible. We reviewed the remaining work for each team member, estimated how much time is still needed, and then added an additional three months to give ourselves enough room to properly finish and polish everything. We know we have adjusted the release date a few times already, but based on our current progress and the work that remains, we do believe these dates are final.New release datesThe full game is now scheduled to release on 30.06.2027.The demo will be released on the game's previous release date, 21.10.2026.We apologize for asking you to wait a little longer, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding. We believe this is the right decision and will allow us to deliver a game that is polished, enjoyable, and worth your time.Thank you for sticking with us.Read full article on Community Announcements (robinofthewood)AnnouncementsOfficial

Release Date for Mystic Land
We wanted to let you know that, after lots of discussions with the team, we came up with a realistic release date for Mystic Land. A date that we are confident that we can "honor".So, the game is set to be released on 21st of October, 2026 with a fully featured public demo releasing a few months prior to the release of the game (aiming for June, 2026).These dates are set because we believe we can develop the game by then. And not only develop, but also test, polish and balance the game as much as we (as a small studio) possibly can.Read full article on Community Announcements (robinofthewood)AnnouncementsOfficial
Mystic Land: The Search for Maphaldo announcement
Big Announcement for Mystic Land: The Search for MaphaldoAfter numerous tests and experiments, we’re excited to confirm that Mystic Land will include an option for smooth party movements and turns. And we’re not talking about pixel zoom tricks or pre-rendered image pans - this is a true 3D environment that will make you feel like you’ve stepped right into a vibrant fantasy world.Prefer the classic old-school 2D grid-hopping style? Don’t worry - the 2D engine isn’t going anywhere. You’ll be able to switch between engines mid-game with a single key press (yes, it’s THAT simple!).Check out the attached YouTube video showcasing first 2 minutes of gameplay in the new 3D engine. It’s still a work in progress - models aren’t polished yet, escpecially the floor and ceiling - but it should give you a great preview of how the game plays in full 3D.Read full article on Community Announcements (robinofthewood)Patch NotesOfficial
Public Beta Demo postponed
We’re sorry, but due to unforeseen circumstances - and the fact that we’re still adding a few major features to the game (like a battle mode upgrade) - we need to postpone the public demo release to the end of summer or autumn at the latest (exact date will be announced soon). We’ll also be canceling our participation in next month’s Steam NextFest and will instead aim for the following one. We just want the public demo to really show what the game will look and feel like when it’s fully released. And right now, we don’t think the current demo version does that (for the reasons mentioned above). If you’d like to try out alpha demo builds and support our work, you’re more than welcome to join us on Patreon.Read full article on Community Announcements (robinofthewood)
