Project: rEvolution is a fast-paced action-roguelike tower defense game built around dynamic turret control, modular upgrades, and evolving enemies. Each run gives you new tools, new modifiers, and new tactical problems to solve as you place, wield, and swap to evolve your turret companions.
Core Features:
Placeable & Wieldable Turret Companions: Deploy turrets like traditional tower defenses, or pick them up and wield them directly. Switch between lane control and mobile firepower on the fly, adapting your strategy to ever-changing waves of enemies.
Modular Upgrade System: Customize each turret through a powerful, run-defining draft system. Upgrades don’t just improve stats, they change how your turrets function, adding new firing patterns, unique effects, stat buffs, and multi-module synergies.
Adaptive Enemies: Enemy waves evolve in direct response to your draft choices. As you upgrade and specialize your turrets, enemies draw from their own upgrade pool - creating a symbiotic escalation that reshapes every run.
Enemy evolutions can include:
Stat Buffs – Increased health, speed, resistances, or damage to counter dominant builds
Unique Abilities – New behaviors that alter movement, targeting, or interaction with towers
Mutators – Run-wide modifiers that compound over time, forcing constant adaptation as difficulty rises
Roguelike Replayability:
Every run randomizes:
Upgrade Offerings
Turret - Enemy Pairings
Enemy & Boss Modifiers
Map Conditions
Events & NPCs
Companions & Events: Throughout each run, companions and scheduled special events appear at key moments in the weekly cycle, introducing powerful, and often unpredictable, opportunities. These encounters can fundamentally reshape your build through turret experimentation, transformational effects, evolutionary upgrades, high-risk bonuses, or meaningful strategic tradeoffs.
Some NPCs allow you to refine and push your turrets through stat tuning and long-term evolution paths. Others offer volatile, high-impact modifications that promise immediate power at the cost of lasting consequences—forcing you to decide how far you’re willing to evolve.
Project: rEvolution encourages:
Creative builds
On-the-fly problem solving
Rapid repositioning
Adapting to unpredictable scenarios
Whether you plan meticulously or improvise through chaos, your decisions define your success. Project: rEvolution is currently in development. Follow the project and wishlist to stay updated on new systems, progression features, and upcoming playtests.

Monthly Devlog: August '26
This month marks one of the biggest decisions we've made during development; Project: rEvolution has officially transitioned from Unreal Engine to Godot! After spending considerable time evaluating our options, we decided to switch to Godot in pursuit of better workflows, faster iteration, and stronger foundations. While engine migrations are never a small undertaking, we're happy to share that the transition is going incredibly well, and is already demonstrating great promise.Although we’re still working to reach parity with the latest public build, the long-term impact on development should be minimal. A Fresh LookWhile rebuilding the foundation, we've been taking the opportunity to improve the overall feel of the game. Here are a few of the updates we've made:Map & Player MovementPlayer character & camera movement feels smoother and more responsive, helping gameplay feel more fluid from the moment a run begins. Eight-directional player animations are next on our todo list, as they’ll help fix the odd perspective issues caused by the player’s sidescroller animations.Health Bar & Damage Number ImprovementsWe've redesigned health bars and damage numbers to make combat information clearer.Turret Placement VFXWe've added new visual effects when placing/moving turrets to start fleshing out the futuristic elements of the game.Map LightingNow that we have access to 2D lights, we’ve begun experimenting with light and post processing effects to shape the aesthetic we’ve long been striving for. These are just some of the first improvements made possible during the transition, and we're excited to continue refining the game's presentation over the coming months. As always, thank you to everyone following development and supporting Project: rEvolution. Your encouragement and feedback continue to motivate us as we push toward creating the best experience possible. We'll have more to share soon.See you in the revolution.Read full article on Community Announcements (lucas)AnnouncementsOfficial
Devlog + Playtest Build #2!
Another month, another round of progress on Project: rEvolution. We've been continuing to expand core gameplay while polishing existing systems based on playtesting and player feedback, resulting in a new playtest build published and available now! Here's a look at what we've been working on this month:New UpgradesThis month we've added 4 new upgrades to the game, introducing even more ways to shape your build throughout a run.SAP: Sap rounds out the offensive crit modifiers with a more defensive payoff to keep those high-damage turrets firing.Ultimate Momentum: Makes using ultimates even more impactful by significantly buffing all matching turrets across the map.Vital Strike: Ideal for sniping strong enemies, Vital Strike adds bonus damage to attacks that only hit a single enemy. It's especially useful against those pesky bosses. Data Purge: boosts healing received and is a great pick-up to make a true drain tank turret when combined with other life steal and healing effects. We're excited to see the kinds of combinations and strategies these new additions open up.Sound EffectsOne area we've been putting more attention into is audio. We've started implementing and refining sound effects across combat and gameplay to make every attack, upgrade, and interaction feel more impactful. There's still plenty more audio work ahead, but it's great seeing the game become more alive with each pass.Bug Fixes & Ongoing ImprovementsAs development continues, we're also spending time improving stability and cleaning up rough edges throughout the game.We are addressing numerous issues flagged, and while not every change is flashy, these improvements go a long way toward making the overall experience smoother and more enjoyable. As always, thank you to everyone following development and sharing feedback. Every month brings us one step closer to the experience we want Project: rEvolution to become. We'll have more to share soon.See you in the revolution. Each week presents new choices and opportunities that can alter your strategy, pushing your build in unexpected directions. Upgrade Draft SystemOne of the core systems in Project: rEvolution is the upgrade draft mechanic. Throughout a run, players draft upgrades that can drastically alter how their build functions, allowing for a wide variety of playstyles and combinations.Enemy EvolutionsIn Project: rEvolution, every upgrade comes with a cost. As players evolve their build through the draft system, the enemy types tied to those upgrades evolve as well, gaining new abilities and behaviors that can dramatically change how encounters play out. The stronger you become, the more dangerous your enemies can grow.
