About this game
Whether you are a seasoned fly caster or someone wanting to learn this graceful art, get ready to immerse yourself in the challenge of casting the perfect fly.
Explore visually stunning environments that transport you right to the water. Much time and attention has been spent ensuring that the entire experience mimics the real feeling and physics of how a fly line and rod respond.
With a real-time day cycle and varying temperatures, different techniques and flies will be needed to outsmart the trout. Trout are fussy and you'll need to make sure your technique is spot on!
Customize your gear with different skins and patterns. Unlock upgrades and locations as you progress and see if you can make it to the top of the leaderboard.
NB: This game requires a virtual reality headset. Please note, we have tested on Vive and Quest. If you have any issues with your device please post in discord or the community tab and we will be sure to help address any issues.
Note from the developer
Fly Caster is a labor of love. As an avid fly fisherman myself, I wanted this game to capture the real physics, nuance, and technical difficulty of casting a fly rod, and I believe it does that.
I hope you enjoy the game. If you have any issues or suggestions, please reach out on discord or the community tab. I will respond to any feedback.

New Map and River!
A long awaited content release. The River mode is something I'm very excited to share. I have personally really enjoyed playing this mode and plan to add more rivers to the game as I really feel it's a fun way to experience the game. Many mechanics have been tweaked as well, from fighting, physics, rendering and performance. Start-up lag that some players experienced should be completely resolved.Fish fighting is a little more nuanced and challenging now, but I feel it's a more accurate experience. In the pipeline are 2 new river maps and I'm looking at accuracy and long casting maps as an idea as well.If you run into any issues please let me know on the community hub or the discord.Tight lines!Read full article on Community Announcements (PewPew)AnnouncementsOfficial
Major overhaul
Update Notes Complete rebuild of line and rod physics. Line simulation has been offloaded to a separate thread allowing increased fidelity whilst reducing CPU load on the game thread. Players should experience a significant boost on frame rate in they were bottle-necked on the CPU. Rendering improvements - The rendering has been improved and polished across the board. GPU performance should be improved across all hardware, but most noticeably lower end specs. Menu/Tutorial layout changes. Added the ability to replay only certain chapters of the tutorial. It was previously not possible to "strip" your line out of the water to re-cast due to friction with the water. This has been solved so you can now begin your cast with the line still in the water the way you would in real life. Solved an issue where the turn control may not have worked. Fish fighting improvements - the fighting experience is now more dynamic and nuanced, with greater emphasis on managing when the fish runs. Balancing tweaks for fish size vs line breaking strain.Read full article on Community Announcements (PewPew)Patch NotesOfficial
Graphics performance update
I've made a huge overhaul to the graphics system to aim for a much higher baseline FPS, especially on mid-level systems. The results look very promising so you should hopefully see a big improvement in responsiveness. As always please leave any feedback in the community hub or on the discord. I will reply to all feedback and if there are any issues I will address them. Hope you enjoy this update. What's next Next on the list will be some big improvements to the line dynamics. It's not quite where I want it right now and these are some changes I'm planning: Overall better in-air behavior. More consistent line turn-over. Less resistance when pulling line from the water. Will also be including a new level in the next update. Plus many other improvements! Thank you all for your support.Read full article on Community Announcements (PewPew)Patch NotesOfficial
Valve Index control change
The Valve index control mapping has changed to prevent the line being pulled in unintentionally. Coming soon... New map and challenge modes!Read full article on Community Announcements (PewPew)Patch NotesOfficial
Performance tuning and headset lag fix
The graphics optimization has been rebuilt from the ground up to get as much FPS as possible whilst retaining the visual appeal of the game. I hope this update brings a solid framerate to all players. There was an issue that affected some headsets whereby their tracking would lag after changing levels. This was an engine bug and has been patched.Read full article on Community Announcements (PewPew)
