Embark on stealth missions within space outposts as you blend into environments or watch over players from a VR perspective. Developed by ProjectorGames, Astro Heist blends action and simulation for an early access experience launched in 2023.
About this game
Pilot Player - Become a masterful pilot navigating bustling space outposts on daring heists. Maneuver through intricate structures, hidden areas, and challenging routes to collect valuable objectives scattered throughout the outpost, all while avoiding the watchful eye of the VR player.
VR Player - Take on the role of VR Watcher and use your keen eye to spot the sneaky saboteur. Send out police squads to search suspicious activity and activate security gates to set traps that trigger the alarm.
A New Perspective! Experience the visually stunning and stylized universe of Astro Heist, where arcade-style gameplay has you hurtling through a gigantic space outpost, maintaining your cover while completing challenging objectives. The VR player enjoys a diorama-style view into the world, allowing greater oversight of the outpost as they look around the tiny world.
Accessibility is a Top Priority! We've ensured that the VR aspect is 100% Gaze-controlled, making the game accessible to as many players as possible.
Asymmetric PvP Experience! The game is designed for 2 players, but with Steam's Remote Play Together feature, you only need one copy of the game for two players to connect from anywhere in the world or play locally on a single setup.
During Early Access, your feedback is essential to shape the game's future. Expect more levels, missions, and a wider range of vehicles in the full release. The Early Access version includes a single replayable mission and a single vehicle.
Prepare for thrilling heists, intense action, and an unforgettable experience in Astro Heist. Are you ready to embark on this daring mission?

V1.05 live
The main push here has been as a stepping stone before the new levels coming out early next year. I've taken the opportunity to move to Unity 2022.3.62 - Unity had a serious security issue that's now been fixed. The Remote Player Together issues haven't been resolved yet, so to play this remotely, you'll still need to be on the Steam Client Beta - please see my previous post!Moved to a newer version of Unity, solving a known security issueFixed Radio Buttons for Level Select on Main MenuFixed error with EZ Targeting not being selectableAdded lots of guidance for users in selecting things in the main menu.Improved main menu tutorialSneaky performance increase from reducing shadow detail in some places that you'd never notice. Just a note - although Steam marked us off as inactive, that's WAY more to do with my not using the 'link to build' option on news posts. Oops. Sorry! Game's not abandoned!Just a reminder that we are always looking for feedback; exploits, overly-easy routes, AI being stuck, any balancing issues, ideas for new levels and new ships, bring 'em all over to the Discord. https://discord.gg/ct9rauMRead full article on Community Announcements (DjArcas)AnnouncementsOfficial
SOMEONE BROKE THE GAME!
Just a bit of a technical update; this game really relies heavily on Steam Remote Play Together for its multiplayer (and who wants to play with themselves, really?) - amazingly, and shockingly, Valve have broken this. The symptom will be that you join someone hosting the game, but all joining players don't appear to have any joypads! (keyboard and mouse still works tho…)The good news it that they HAVE fixed it, but haven't made it public yet; if you need to get it working again, head to:Steam -> Settings -> Interface -> Client Beta Participation and select 'Steam Beta Update'Let me know if that fixes it for you!Read full article on Community Announcements (DjArcas)AnnouncementsOfficial
Not dead!
Just a quick note to reassure you that the project isn't dead or abandoned. The initial thrust of development was to get the engine up and working, and all the tools necessary to place gates, resources, along with the AI ships, spawns and all the handling models. That's 95% complete now, meaning the vast majority of the rest of the work falls to the designer! Sadly, he's had a bit of a health upset, and isn't able to work on the game currently. We're both itching to continue work on the game, and any code issues I can absolutely work on. As ever, please please please feel free to give feedback. We're always available on Discord, and you're all 100% welcome to come and discuss the things you love or hate about the game! https://discord.gg/VBs69PK6ZxRead full article on Community Announcements (DjArcas)AnnouncementsOfficial
Second Level available for testing and feedback
The Staging Branch has been updated with the latest build of the second level. This level's design takes a very different approach to the first one. The first level is very much a 360 degree play space, with lots of zig-zagging paths to be taken by the 2d player. As accessibility is very important, one of the design requirements for the second level is that it takes place entirely in front of the VR player. As well as this, the path taken by the 2d player is linear; they start on the left hand side, move through to the right, before returning to the left. Our local playtesting has shown this level, surprisingly, to be very hard for the VR player to win. As part of trying to balance that a little, we've scaled up the police speeds. As ever - we do need feedback. Does this level work? Are the police too easy? Are there too many places for the 2d player to hide in?Read full article on Community Announcements (DjArcas)AnnouncementsOfficial
2024 begins!
Happy New Year! Whilst we've been terribly quiet, work has been continuing, and we're hopefully not too far from making the second level publicly available. We've been trying to have plenty of variety in the levels; some are going to be easier for the 2d player, some for the VR player. The first level has a lot of zig-zagging, multiple routes, and scope for huge subterfuge for the pancake player. This next level is very different - the 2d player moves along a fairly linear path (with plenty of cover and branching-and-collapsing-routes), and it's *much* clearer to the VR player how far through the level the Heister is. At the end, there's many routes to the exit. This level also takes place in a 180 degree arc, meaning a very different VR experience. It's available now in bleeding_edge. Remember! Your feedback is important! Are any levels too hard? Easy? Confusing? Suggestions for new levels or mechanics? We're always here to listen! The Action Replay system is also available, and it really works well to get a "Oh what, you went THAT way!" response; this also helps players to evolve strategies to beat each other constantly. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1125387597590581341/1158726995711119492/image.pngRead full article on Community Announcements (DjArcas)
