Dreadwinter Devlog - August 2026
WelcomeHey there, welcome to this month's Dreadwinter devlog! ːespressoːIn this edition, there's updates on what I've added to the game, like fleshing out the regular customer storylines, more seasonal events, and some new unlockables.I'll also go over some plans for release as November approaches, which may end up being early access(!), more on that below.Let's get started! ːsteamhappyːRegular Customer StorylinesSo the bulk on what I've been working on this month is the regular customer encounters, and their individual storylines. As you'd expect, it's mostly dialogue, so there isn't too much I can show off, but there are special cutscenes that will play out as you progress through the game.Over time, your regulars will meet, and your community will start to take shape. Certain encounters will require you to have reached a certain level with your other regulars, so don't neglect them!Previously, there were going to be 5 encounters for each customer, but it's now increased to 6! These encounters are where they will request something specific, and can progress their individual storylines. I wouldn't say that every encounter will be crucial to their character development, but I tried to make sure that even the "lighter" visits have something you can learn or take away from it.There's also "generic" visits that will occur if you haven't unlocked the next encounter yet, as well as after you've completed all of their requests, so they won't stop visiting in between encounters! As a little side note, your pets are still active and can move around during cutscenes, which can lead to some funny things happening. I'll probably add a setting where you can hide them in this case..Ignore me!Night of the Dumpling MoonThe Night of the Dumpling Moon is an event that occurs during the Sunny Season! ːsteamsunnyːOn this night, the moon takes on the shape of a dumpling, and signals the start of the new year for certain cultures. You can think of it as this game's version of the lunar n...Read full article on Community Announcements (Vongy)AnnouncementsOfficial
Dreadwinter - July 2026 Devlog
WelcomeHey there, welcome to another Dreadwinter devlog! ːsteamhappyːWe've got new content in all sorts of places, so let's get right into it! ːluvːMerryAutumn Coffee HouseYou can now visit the MerryAutumn Coffee House!MerryAutumn is the world's leading producer of coffee beans and coffee machines, and their café isn't anything to scoff at as well! When you visit, you can buy Little D-Mons, which if you remember, help you brew and serve coffee, as well as the Espresso bar, which can let you develop your espresso into lattes, cappuccinos, and more!On wednesday evenings, there's a rogue D-Mon selling MerryAutumn coffee beans in limited amounts, but if you visit MerryAutumn, you'll be able to buy as much as you want! You can also acquire the MerryAutumn café theme for yourself!MerryAutumn is located in Neo Solara, which you can travel to by taking the Sky Train in Lunara, once you've purchased a rail pass.Gelado & Co ExpansionGelado & Co now has a second floor! There isn't much there for now, but it will eventually have a lot more in stock. Right now, there are new machines you can buy for the cafe, which I'll get into a bit later, and the plan is to have a fashion section, where you can buy clothes, accessories, and change your appearance.New MachinesSo there are a few new machines that are available to use. First, we have the auto drink maker, which lets you make any coffee-based drink, as long as you provide it with coffee grounds.Bear in mind that it will only produce standard quality drinks, which will limit the sale price. This machine is more about making lots of drinks, rather than good ones, which may or may not be to your benefit. Then we have the Espresso Machine, which can produce espresso, and nothing else. You'll need to buy the Espresso Bar to do any more than that. There's also the Auto-Espresso Machine, which is faster, but again will only produce plain espresso.GiftingI think I've already talked about the gifting system, but there's been a few updates tha...Read full article on Community Announcements (Vongy)AnnouncementsOfficial
Dreadwinter Devlog - June 2026
WelcomeHey there, welcome to this month's Dreadwinter devlog! This month was more content heavy, with additional furniture and decoration options, a new dungeon, and another seasonal event. Let's go over the highlights! ːsteamhappyːEven More Café Customisation!I've added furniture themes to Dreadwinter! I mentioned this in the last devlog, but while you could change the flooring and wallpaper in the café, some of the permanent fixtures, such as the bar area, would stay the same, which caused some colour clashes, and didn't really look good. Now, you can apply matching themes to the cafe, which will change the colour of the bar, as well as other parts of the cafe, like the kitchen. When decorating the cafe, there is now a third tab in the painting section, where you can apply themes separately! Themes are automatically acquired when you buy a wallpaper, though not all wallpapers will have their own theme. The priority is to make themes for colour schemes that contrast heavily with Dreadwinter's original design, so I don't think every wallpaper will need a matching theme. This could change if needed, though!Furniture OptionsI've also been working on different types of furniture and decorations! Here's some of the stuff I'm quite proud of! Who knew that a bunch of pixels could make you feel hungry I've added decorations that you can place on the bar, and increased the amount of room you have to place them. You need to have space for your coffee brewers and grinders, though, so bear that in mind! There's now also arcade machines you can buy and place in the café, or your apartment. Currently, they're purely decorative, but that could change in the future ːsteammockingːThese are available to buy at Blunder Muffin, not the furniture store! It seemed more appropriate to sell them in a hobby store, rather than the furniture store, so now Blunder Muffin also sells furniture (It was just battle cards before).Lovers LeapIf you happen to visit the Lower Town on a certain day, you...Read full article on Community Announcements (Vongy)AnnouncementsOfficial
Dreadwinter Devlog - May 2026
WelcomeHey there, it's that time of month again, it's another Dreadwinter update! ːluvːAs we enter the later stages of development, there aren't too many big features being added in at this point, so sometimes it gets hard to find things to talk about, since a lot of it will either be spoilers, or tiny things you won't notice. That being said, there's always things I want to show off, so let's go over some of them! Approximate Release DateIf you've checked the store page recently, the release date has been changed to Q4 2026! I'm aiming to be able to release in late October-November, which is around 6 months away at the time of writing this. It feels both like it's a long way away, but there also isn't much time left to finish the game, it's a weird feeling. ːsteamsadːHopefully there's enough time, and I can stay focused for the next 6 months, so let's put that as the target for now!Customise Your ApartmentYou can now customise your room/apartment! It shares the same inventory as the café, which should make things easier for both you and me. This means any furniture, flooring and wallpaper you buy can be used in Dreadwinter, or your room. Machines are an exception, though, as you can only make coffee in the café.I'll be adding a larger variety of furniture and decorations as well, and hopefully it will fit in, no matter where you place it!Additional Café CustomisationI've been adding new flooring and wallpapers to customise your café/apartment with, and one thing I noticed is that there are some clashes with the different colour schemes, as you can see from the above screenshot.I'll be adding additional customisation options, such as different colour schemes for the bar area, and the default stools next to it, which should fit better with some of the different styles. This may also extend to the doors and windows if needed as well!ClaireClaire, the manager of the local Adventurer's Guild, has now been made into a full character! Before, she was a faceless NPC, but t...Read full article on Community Announcements (Vongy)AnnouncementsOfficial
Dreadwinter Devlog - April 2026
WelcomeHey there, welcome to this month's Dreadwinter devlog! There was quite a lot of work going on outside of development this month, so progress was a little bit slower. Still, there are a lot of little things that have been added to the game, and many changes behind the scenes, so I'll go over the highlights! ːsteamhappyːAlso, Dreadwinter is part of the 2026 Wholesome Kitchen Event, which as you might guess, showcases a load of games focused around cooking, kitchens, and anything culinary related (like coffee!). It runs until May 11, and there's plenty of discounts going on during the event!MapI've added a map into the game! You can hover over most locations, (such as Dreadwinter, the observatory, or Gelado & Co.) to see who's in the area. Hopefully, this makes it easier to find people, and navigate around. I had a lot of fun making this, since I never really took the time to look at the town as a whole, and it made me appreciate the world I've made a bit more. I've been working on Dreadwinter for quite a long time now, and it's easy to forget about the scale of the game I'm making, so this was a nice reminder!Regular Customer NotesAs you know, your regular customers are a key part of the game. As you get to know them through their weekly visits, you'll figure out what kind of drinks they like and dislike, as well as other things about them!To help you keep track of this information, I've added a note board system to their character pages. The notes will build up as you fulfil their requests, and figure out their tastes through their responses to your drinks. (I've redacted some info to avoid spoilers! ːsteammockingː)Heart EventsI've started adding the classic heart events into the game! ːluvː You're probably already familiar with them, but for those that aren't, these are character events that occur when you've reached certain points in your relationship with a character. You'll get to know their story, and perhaps even help them find a conclusion to it!Joint He...Read full article on Community Announcements (Vongy)
