About this game
Sick Samurai is a blisteringly fast, one-hit-kill action game. Dash through enemies, slash them open, time your runs with burning cigarettes, and survive your mentor’s deranged trials in a blood-splattered, jazz-infused memoir.
Sick Combat: Slash and dash through opponents at incredible speeds. Wield secondary weapons - like the kunai and stun bombs - and kick objects at enemies to shift the odds in your favor. When the time is right, unleash the Girameki technique. Blink and you'll die.
Sick Strategies: Every level is hand-crafted and offers multiple paths and strategies. Customize your approach with upgrades and items as you face increasingly challenging opponents. Master your routes to finish before your mentor burns through his cigarette, and earn an elite rating.
Sick Storytelling: Build relationships through fully voiced dialogue with unique characters like Genyu, the infamous ex-samurai who's taken you under his wing, and Jones, a “former” gangster turned proprietor of a jazz bar.
Sick Aesthetics: An original lofi soundtrack infused with elements of hip hop, jazz, funk, soul, and more, and hand-drawn, retro anime-style art, will leave you feeling like you're smoking a cigarette on a rainy night in the late '90s.

2026: A Letter From Furikyu Island
2026: A Letter From Furikyu Island What’s good? I know you haven’t heard from me in a while, but I’ve been busy working on the memoir. I’m finally ready to start showing more of it. I’ll soon be issuing a fresh cut of the demo, and the most important part is the story. I lied about Genyu because I didn’t think people would wanna know what he was really like, but I realize now it’s not a story worth telling if it isn’t honest.I’m gonna be posting my stuff all over the place, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, here’s a sneak preview of some later parts: A work-in-progress of one of Damien’s clubs in Hikariyo. I can’t lie, they had some cool spots, kinda wish I’d had the chance to hang out at one of ‘em instead of blowin’ ‘em up every time. Wenya, one of the great samurai and the greatest of my opponents - and the most interesting of Genyu's old friends. After the governor died, she led a movement based on the island's old religion. They basically worshipped women, and Genyu had some... interesting thoughts about that. One of Wenya’s zealots. The spearchicks, as Genyu liked to call ‘em. Really pissed me off that I had to dodge around those long-ass spears. Another one of her minions. I was actually impressed by them, they could dash across entire rooms – still no idea how they did it. The last of Wenya’s troops. Men who worship women - enough to make Genyu’s head explode, and I mean that literally. These guys threw some kinda ball at me, dunno what it was, but they had wings and they’d fly straight at your head and send your eyeballs in opposite directions if they got too close.I’ll write again soon.Read full article on Community Announcements (Solideo)Patch NotesOfficial
One Last Demo Update
Hello friends,I've released one last awesome update for the demo before proceeding with work on the full version of Sick Samurai. This will be the last major update for the demo until we participate in Next Fest in many months from now. Stay tuned for updates on full version progress coming very soon!Update notes below:The Katsuryoku Sake upgrade (reduced attack/dodge cooldowns) has been replaced with the Zenshin Sake upgrade. This upgrade will cause time to slow down when you dodge, making the dodge significantly more powerful and giving you ample time to set up sick plays. The slowmo slowly fades, and will be cancelled instantly when you attack, use an item, or press the dodge button again. The Stun Bomb is now called the Whistle Bomb and is significantly more powerful. It will kill all enemies in a small radius around the blast while stunning remaining enemies that are a bit further away. The power of the Whistle Bomb is balanced by its inventory slot usage. It requires 2 slots to equip 1 whistle bomb, while the kunai still only requires 1 slot per kunai.Attack ranges and enemy targeting have been modified to make the difference between a successful attack and a miss as clear as possibleYou can now instantly unequip and fully equip all kunai/bombs by clicking on their icon in the backpack instead of incrementing/decrementing them one by one. There is now an additional graphics setting called "Ultra Low". On top of all the other things the lower graphics settings disable, this mode will also disable all postprocessing fx. A variety of other performance optimizations have been made that are applicable to all graphics settings.I hope you enjoy these changes, they're a lot of fun, and I hope you'll hear from me again very soon.SolideoRead full article on Community Announcements (Solideo)AnnouncementsOfficial

The reception has been very positive and I'm glad to see so many people digging it.BUT.... alright, maybe the demo was juuuuust a little too hard for you scrubs. Just a touch. After taking in all the best feedback over the past couple weeks, I'm happy to announce that a new version of the demo is now available! In fact, it includes so many changes and improvements, I'm calling it Demo 2.0.These changes include but are not limited to: -Difficulty curves, especially for new players-A simplified, super easy to use control scheme-New mechanics around dodging and missing attacks-A "learn" mode for quick and easy practice and lessons-New achievements-Countless quality of life improvementsAnd for those of you with balls of steel who prefer the most relentlessly brutal version of the demo - don't worry, the option is there with all the new improvements included.I hope this update will improve upon the already dope experience, and allow a wider audience to appreciate the thrill of the kill.Full list of changes below, and stay tuned for work on the full version coming soon, PEACE!Sick Samurai Demo 2.0 Update Gameplay changes: -Your attack range when smashing through a door is larger, so highlighted enemies are guaranteed to be hit even if they step out of range at the last moment. -Missing an attack will slow down time, which will slowly transition back to normal. This effect only happens on the "Chill" and "Normal" difficulty levels. Dodging or using an item in this state will instantly restore regular time. -Dodging now instantly resets your attack cooldown. -The passive upgrade drink reward in the bar is no longer a movement speed upgrade - instead, it reduces your attack and dodge cooldowns.-Bonus points are now awarded for blocking a kickable object with a kunai.-Bonus points are awarded for destroying enemy projectiles and kickables with the Girameki technique.-The Girameki techni...Read full article on Community Announcements (Solideo)AnnouncementsOfficial

Ever closer to a demo...
Hey everyone, Here's where Sick Samurai's at at the beginning of February. Everything is about getting the demo done and released as soon as possible. I've got about a week of visual polish work left to do, and all that's left after that is the audio - a handful of music tracks and sound fx, the recording of the voice lines, and the final mixing of it all. I expect it'll take me just over a month to get that all done. Finally, we'll do a week or two of private playtesting, and the public release will follow immediately after that - so you can expect to be playing no later than April! In the meantime, we've finished designing all of the enemies and characters for the game's second act. This act features a style inspired by Western and Japanese hip hop cultures, mid 20th-century jazz culture, yakuza and island-wear influences, and a touch of the 1970s. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45268489/036a7ee8d440a4915bf258b54f9b8c03ed0c2dbb.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45268489/5aa44561683f7b01bfe9b34f4095e17a9c5cf1b0.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45268489/05f1d6a2aaf4667408ef18b0fcb63052bbb28508.png This act also features two samurai boss characters: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45268489/5ec79ac95e8e88caabbbabb36aee84e62f0996da.png Damien is Jones' (the bartender) younger brother and the ruler of the island's city. He's known for his unusual style of dual-wielding katanas. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45268489/178241ce8f778b57f8e368cd30eff94b3c437a05.png Violet is Damien's partner in ruling as well as being his questionable romantic interest. She prefers to fight from a distance, using a miniature crossbow and throwing knives, though she also keeps a long dagger on hand just in case. I hope to have most of the soundtrack done by the next time I post, and thanks for all the interest and support! Until then, SolideoRead full article on Community Announcements (Solideo)
