In Beecarbonize, manage bee colonies and combat environmental threats. Use strategic cards to protect your ecosystem from the looming crisis of climate change.

About this game

Your enemy: carbon emissions. Research cutting-edge technologies, enact policies, protect ecosystems, and modernize industry to avert climate catastrophe. Create your own path to victory, manage your resources well, and you might survive!

Will you favor industrial reforms, nature conservation or people initiatives? There are many ways to solve climate change and reduce pollution. But saving the planet is not an easy task. The more carbon emissions you produce the more extreme events you will have to deal with.

You have to balance the power-generating industry, social reforms, ecological policies and scientific endeavors. Will you transition from fossil fuels as fast as possible? Or will you focus on carbon capture technologies first? Experiment with new strategies and don’t be afraid to start again.

Game cards represent inventions, laws, social advancements, or industries – each designed on the basis of real-world climate science. In addition, partially randomized world events occur, forcing you to adapt your strategy. Gradually unlock new cards in the game encyclopedia and chart your path towards a new future.

The world of Beecarbonize reacts to your actions. More emissions mean more floods or heatwaves, investing in nuclear power raises the risk of a nuclear incident, and so on. Learn more with each run and you might overcome environmental catastrophes, social unrest, and even avert the end of life on earth.

We are introducing Hardcore mode, the ultimate challenge in Beecarbonize for experienced players. In Hardcore mode you will face the harsh reality of climate change. Can you defy the odds and save the planet even in this extreme scenario?

Beecarbonize is a strategic challenge that lets you experience phenomena shaping our everyday lives hands-on. Just how many seasons can you last?

Our new game Playing Prague needs your strategy skills!

Dear Beecarbonize players,It’s been a while! Be assured that we are still very much delighted how many of you played our humble climate strategy game. In many ways, Beecarbonize is baked into the DNA of our studio. Including our continuing interest in strategy/puzzle games and how they can intertwine with socially impactful topics. That brings us to Playing Prague, our new puzzle/strategy game. We think you might like it:Playing Prague takes you on a tour of Prague, a city we live and work in. The gameplay tasks you with combining symbols taken from historical houses into intricate patterns to clear each level, all the while discovering and collecting monuments and meeting historical figures. These include Prague Castle, Franz Kafka, Old Town Square or the queen of Bohemia herself. That’s 60 collectibles in total! The first level pack (6 levels) is free, but you can support the game by getting two DLCs (2x5 levels) for a price of a coffee.Albeit not exactly like Beecarbonize, we see Playing Prague as an extension of our approach that was already there when we released our carbon-cutting game three years ago.Hope you like it, leave a review and happy playing,Ondřej Charles Games

    Charles games turns five! 🎂

Hi! I am truly moved as I write this – more than five years ago, when I joined an informal group of developers at Charles University, I did not imagine myself writing an article to celebrate the fifth birthday of a proper studio that emerged out of it. Yet, here we are! ⭐️ And since half a decade is not nothing, we have prepared some special things for you. Keep reading and remember: we are where we are in large part thanks to you, for keeping us company all these years. So, thank you from all of us at Charles Games. To remind ourselves of the journey we've made so far, we created a little video. It is a look back at our humble beginnings as well as our subsequent accomplishments, featuring archive materials as well as commentary by our developers. We hope you like it – yes, you, specifically you, because without you, there would be no us. Because we are truly grateful to you, our fans, without whom we wouldn’t be able to have made it so far. So, thank you, enjoy, and let’s meet soon. There will be many opportunities to do so in the near future. The story of Charles Games begins way back in the 2010s, when people from multiple faculties of Charles University gathered to work on serious games. Their passion later made Attentat 1942 happen in 2017 – a game that went on to collect numerous awards, steering the direction of the then-assembling studio. Charles Games was founded in 2020, and Attentat 1942 was there once again, its mobile release being the first title the studio released, along with the next chapter in the form of Svoboda 1945: Liberation. Since then, we have tried to craft a team and a company that wants something more out of games: to create titles that make an impact, that can be part of the conversation around important topics while remaining engaging. Now, in 2025, it is safe to say that it looks like we have succeeded. A special occasion calls for special content, and what better way to capture one’s own path than with a timeline? Believe it or not, ...

Meet our next game: Velvet 89! ✌️

Our very dear Playing Kafka players, I am so happy to announce a new game by Charles Games coming in October 2024! Velvet 89 is a free game that will take you to the streets of several Czechoslovak cities, full of people who decided to speak up against an unjust regime – and a title attentive to some of the overlooked aspects of it all. It’s twice a first for Charles Games – a hidden-object game (we just love Hidden Folks) and a game about perhaps the most significant topic our country’s history in the last 35 years: The Velvet Revolution! We will let our new Steam page (including teaser!) to speak for itself: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3133340/Velvet_89/ With Velvet 89 we put a lot of effort into a) making sure the history is represented in a nuanced and truthful manner and b) stylized visuals with a paper-like quality to them. You’ll be the judge of how successful we were in the fall, but until then, spread the word, wishlist (it helps) and look forward to the 35th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution with us and Velvet 89.
