Packet.Breach() challenges you to become a legend by deploying hacker programs in strategic battles. Join a faction or stay independent as you manipulate and redirect projectiles in this innovative indie strategy game.

About this game

Develop your strategy, deploy your programs, and defuse enemy viruses in packet.Breach(), an innovative take on the tower defense genre. Unlike most tower defenses where you build towers that passively shoot bullets, you will deploy programs that manipulate and redirect the projectiles of your enemies. Programs are weak in isolation, but incredibly useful when paired strategically. You can even take it one step further and modify the properties of bullets and programs entirely. Utilize emergent strategies to become a hacker legend.

Key Features

  • Roguelike Deckbuilding: You have many options at your disposal. You can create a deck focused on teleporting projectiles, creating massive explosions, destroying your own programs, creating a bullet hell, or much much more.
  • Powerful Synergies: Each program has synergies with other programs. Understanding how programs interact with each other is the key to creating a proficient strategy.
  • Joinable Hacker Factions: As you continue to hack, you will gain prestige and gain renown amongst various hacker affiliations. Progress in their ranks (or choose to remain unaffiliated) to gain access new legendary programs with unique effects.
  • Procedural Corporate Servers: Each megacorporation has unique strategies to thwart your efforts. Some may construct digital walls, while others will attempt to destroy your own programs.
  • Emergent Mechanics: packet.Breach() is built with simple gameplay rules that have huge gameplay consequences and implications with other mechanics. Discover mechanics that no other players (or even the developers) know about!

    packet.Breach() 1.0.1 Released

    This is a teeny update with a few changes and bugfixes following release day. Changes Beta (the Ingress program that comes from Alpha) now grants +2 damage instead of x2 damage Gamma (the Ingress program that comes from Beta) now grants +3 damage instead of x3 damage (it still splits the packet 3-ways) The fourth program option in the level-up menu (the one that always has a different faction's program) will always be common if the random faction is not yet unlocked Reduced the difficulty of the first server, mostly by removing some of the excessive walls near the start of the level (servers two and three remain as difficult as ever) The tutorial now stresses the importance of pausing The tutorial now teaches how to overwrite programs (you can do that, for those that didn't know) Other incremental improvements to the tutorial Updated credits with fuller font Bugfixes Fixed cognition not actually granting experience (previously, it would appear to grant experience, but it was never added to the experience bar) Fixed some programs playing the wrong sound effect when deployed Fixed a bug where the fourth program option in the level-up menu would always be rare or legendary (we all thought we were lucky, but 'twas not so)

    Update 0.6: Procedural Generation!

    Procedural Generation Update Hello all! Today, we're bringing a number of changes to the game that I'm happy to have. Some quality-of-life improvements are here to stay (and more shall follow!), and the biggest update is bringing the procedural generation to the demo. Previously you could only play on the two static levels, but we figured it would be a bit more fun to see some of the level diversity before you buy the game. Also! Development on the full game is going smoothly, although we've encountered some hitches that prevented us from releasing the game when we wanted to. We were aiming to release today, but alas! We will have to delay a wee bit. I don't anticipate a huge delay—no more than 2 weeks—although I'm still sad that we couldn't release on time. Oh well, lessons learned! This whole project has been a huge undertaking for the team since we had very little time to work on it. There are some features that I really wanted to add to 1.0, although they will have to be introduced later in some free updates. And yes, we will absolutely be updating the game with free content updates post-release! I'm really looking forward to working on them. More information coming later! For now, here are some changes that we've shipped over to the demo. Enjoy! Version 0.6 Changelog Added - Added procedural generation to demo. - Added visual timer to clock programs. - Added warning signal when a new wave is about to start. Programs that are about to be destroyed by the firewall will blink a few times, first. - Added a wee little wiggle to packets. Daw, so cute. - Added overstock warning. When your stock is full, the stock indicator will flash red and say "Overstocked!" - Added tooltip to piston architectures. - Added icon to game executable. How'd we miss that? Changed - Changed Chimera faction description. - Changed dancer program description. - Changed stock description. - Changed appearance of tutorial UI indicators. Fixed - Fixed first-run cinematic occurring when you retu...

    We're streaming the public demo!

    Hey all! This is Dylan, the programmer and designer at CeltiCo, working on packet.Breach(). It's been a hectic last few weeks over here at CeltiCo. When I say hectic... I mean it! I was staying up until 5 am on Friday to get this demo ready for everyone. And it was worth it! The game looks beautiful! Well, I'm also sleep deprived and my sleep schedule has been thrown out the window, but it was worth it, I promise! We are ready (and very excited) to show you the first public demo of packet.Breach(). You're able to play it yourselves right now, to get a taste for what's to come! We will also be streaming throughout the week here and there, so don't be shy. We'll also be setting up a pre-recorded stream throughout the week. Frankly, this is all a bit of a shock to me and the rest of the team, as we were pretty darn sure that we wouldn't be able to make it to Next Fest. Well, here we are :)
