FAQ
Will Polaris be a live service title?
No, Polaris will offer a complete experience at launch. That said, if big AAA studios don't get everything right day one, our little team certainly won't, so we'll no doubt be making bug fixes and balancing changes after release, and we'll take that responsibility seriously. If people dig what we've made and would like more, we'll definitely consider it, so long as we won't bankrupt ourselves in the process. But I don't want to sell people something which is incomplete, half-finished, or where we're pitching as-yet-unrealised potential. We just want to make a cool game, and we hope it looks cool to you, too!
What operating systems will Polaris be compatible with?
At launch we'll support Windows PC only, with the possibility of Steam Deck support at a later point.
Will this be an Early Access title?
No, Polaris will launch in full when released.
What's the inspiration behind making Polaris?
It's Jonathan the creative director writing this (hi there!). I can't speak for everyone on the team, so I'll answer just for me... I've kind of always wanted to work on a game like this. I grew up loving the games of Bullfrog and Psygnosis, in particular Syndicate, Wipeout, G-Police, and Colony Wars. So experiences involving "teams of high tech soldiers, using high tech vehicles, causing chaos in an original science fiction world" have always been embedded deep in my frontal lobe. Over the years I've fallen in love with games like Halo, Earth Defence Force, Red Faction, Just Cause, Crimson Skies, and Ace Combat. Polaris is a melting pot of all these inspirations (and more!) combined with the raw talent and creativity of the awesome team I get to work with everyday. Also they turned off the Warhawk servers so this is the only way I get to fulfil that particular gameplay fantasy.

POLARIS™ - Major Update - 'Skyborn Echelon'
New Version Polaris_Win64_Shipping_2025-02-09_1723_28485 Summary The second content update for POLARIS™ is here! And given it’s quite a bit bigger than our last one, we’re giving it a name worthy of its status: Welcome to the Skyborn Echelon update. Skyborn Echelon encompasses a range of additions, most significantly our new Sandbox mode, which allows groups of friends to get together in any level for unstructured fun, where they can learn the terrain, experiment with weapons and abilities, and generally blast the heck out of each other. As I expressed in our previous update, I want to send an enormous thank you to everyone who has experienced POLARIS™ so far. Your passion and enthusiasm for the game has been so rewarding. We’ve amassed quite a community already and I've really enjoyed interacting with many of you in the official POLARIS™ Discord server: https://discord.gg/polarispve We love this game. And we love tinkering away on it and adding new features to it. Many of the changes in this update were directly motivated by your feedback. Thank you for inspiring us. The headline additions for Skyborn Echelon are: 🛝 Sandbox Mode Given the dynamism of our flight abilities and totally destructible environments in POLARIS™, the new Sandbox mode can be a real blast. Get creative with your friends and carve the maps up by drilling into them with Sonic weapons or blasting them apart with the devastating new payloads. Or just kick back and relax or even set your own rules, using the mode as a playground for ad hoc games of deathmatch, organising jet-powered sky races, or whatever your mind can conjure up. It’s your space to do with as you see fit. Please share videos of what you get up to in the game. Sandbox is where you’ll be able to push the game’s systems to their absolute limits - and maybe even beyond - so we anticipate it being a venue for some amusing antics. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do. 🪖 Payload Update Payloads can be crazy fun. But we spoiled them a b...Read full article on Community Announcements (Jonathan Burroughs)Patch NotesOfficial
POLARIS™ - Update - 'Beacon'
New Version Polaris_Win64_Shipping_2025-01-31_1674_28267 Summary The first content update for POLARIS™ is here! Thank you so much to everyone who has experienced POLARIS™ already during launch week. Your passion and enthusiasm for the game has been so rewarding. And I've really enjoyed interacting with many of you in the official POLARIS™ Discord community: https://discord.gg/polarispve As a thank you for all the love you've shown the game, we'd like to share our first content update, which we're referring to as Beacon. The big ticket additions are: 🐍 Burrowing Devastator Rigs! The Regime Engineering Corps have performed fresh topographical scans of allied settlements in the Free Worlds and their Devastator drilling rigs pose a greater threat than ever before. With detailed analysis of the geological composition of all terrain in the vicinity of our evacuated cities, we can expect Devastators to be more bold than ever in how they tear their way through the landscapes of our idyllic home worlds. Furthermore, the Regime has deployed a variety of new Devastator classes, ranging from smaller scout vehicles to huge behemoth drilling rigs. Show them no mercy. Take the fight to the Regime and obliterate any of the serpentine Devastators you encounter. ✨ Personal Teleport Beacons! We've added an all new deployable item to the Requisition system - the Teleport Beacon! Teleport Beacons are unlocked by default and cost no Requisition Tokens to deploy. Summon a Teleport Beacon into the level and by referring to your team health status in the bottom left of the HUD, you'll be able to instantly teleport to the beacon's location once it has landed. Previously it was only possible to teleport to the locations of team members in multiplayer. Now point-to-point teleportation is available in single player too. Plus the feature works across the game, adding new tactical opportunities however you choose to take the fight to the Regime. We hope you enjoy! 📈 New Rebalanced Difficulty Leve...Read full article on Community Announcements (Jonathan Burroughs)Patch NotesOfficial
