About this game

My name is Temple, I was a traversal specialist on an expedition.

We were studying a new artifact. Turns out it was a portal. Return is impossible.

    Demo Update

Hi guys!I just pushed a quick update to the demo, nothing major. The first few passageways of the intro cave were pretty confusing. Anytime I showed someone the game they would walk right past the entrance to the next area and get turned around. Not ideal, since the next part was the COOOOOOL part.I reworked this area and made it much more open and pretty, which in turn is much nicer to test out abilities when someone is first learning the game. I also use it to introduce the character of the "Dragon" briefly, giving a subtle, yet incomplete hint of his nature.Nothing else that is major this time, my time in Veil is spent fleshing out unfinished parts after all. Enjoy!

    Smoothing the Path: Demo Update

Greetings explorers! I just pushed a new update for Veil's demo for you all to enjoy. The update mostly focuses on smoothing out the demo's first impressions. There is also some balancing and polish of movement abilities.Big Level ChangesAdded a new, easy waterfall cave at beginning.Added a longer gliding tutorial."Will help less confident players lean into game. I wish for Veil to be an approachable adventure game before diving into intense parkour."Added voiced narration, revealing some lore."The voice is a placeholder, will have proper voice acting in final game. Enjoy the sultry whispering for now."Removed puzzle after gravity cavern."I've found people don't like my puzzles when there is parkour action to be had. I know how to improve them, but I'd rather focus on what feeds into the game's sense of movement."Removed scary encounter with the "dragon" (for now)."Will be polished for final game! A dramatic moment, but not everyone's favorite part of the demo due to some communication issues, anticlimactic ending, lack of interesting navigation, etc.., so I'd like to cook on it longer. If feeling left out, you can check out the encounter here from funny youtuber man."Spes Intera: moved entrance to lava tower. Now it costs stars to enter.Spes Intera: reaching end takes you back to tutorial, not demo end.Spes Intera: Added stars (thanks to Zayd the intern).Ability ChangesWings now use their own energy bar.Glide rings added to open area. Wings are refilled when flying through them.Wings have a "flutter" mode when out of power. It's fun!Wings are now triggered by a single button press. Way more straightforward than pressing dive twice.Diving midair is no longer possible with glider immediately deploying, but it still works on the ground!"I want to encourage players to mix parkour and gliding together for the most amount of fun, instead of gliding being 'the only move to use'. I hope the compromise keeps the fun. PLEASE FORGIVE MEEEE-"Wall hover no longer shoots players...

Wonder and Horror: Major Demo Update

Dear explorers, I have updated the free demo of Veil: Alter Unknown with a great deal of new content, and just in time for Halloween! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44273497/93b83722a446037131e0cad8c9a4d6b5c06ac36f.png An illuminated hallway leads to an expanse of wonder, and of great challenge! Most of my equipment doesn't work there. Strange. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44273497/b408b826d6b11266a9c4078cc8aa3441299c6f26.png Within a cliff lies a dark complex. I heard strange sounds within. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44273497/ca2a3f78d945b51e5f64feea2bfa9dda66652ca2.png The old gravity cave is longer, just to improve the experience. TL;DR The demo got a lot bigger. Enjoy! -Peter Lantz, the developer
