About the Game

Crash-landed on the hostile alien world of Hastaris centuries ago, survival remains a way of life. In Coloniser, an epic-scale multiplayer real-time strategy game inspired by classic isometric RTS titles, building a colony is earned.

Players are thrown into massive, persistent online worlds shared with rival tribes and hostile wildlife. Govern a colony whose way of life has been shaped through years of conflict and desire for dominance. The safest place is rarely where you begin, and early decisions can mean the difference between establishing a foothold or being wiped out before your story truly begins.

Only those who survive the early struggle will live long enough to build, advance through eras, and shape the future of Hastaris.

Upon entering a server, players must contend with dangerous spawn zones, roaming threats, and other players competing for the same land and resources.

Finding defensible terrain, managing limited resources, and knowing when to stay hidden or move on are critical to survival. Poor positioning can leave your colony vulnerable not only while you play, but even while you’re offline.

Only after securing defensible terrain, stabilizing resources, and weathering early conflict can true expansion begin.

Once your foothold is secure, Coloniser opens into a deep base-building and strategic experience. Develop your settlement, research new technologies, and shape your colony’s identity as you progress through eras.

Whether you fortify your borders, dominate key resources, or maneuver through alliances and betrayals, every expansion is a calculated risk in a living, player-driven world.

Hastaris is home to many competing tribes, each defined by their origins, beliefs, and approach to survival.

Some guard ancient crash sites and cling to fading hopes of rescue. Others roam the planet as nomads, adapting constantly to its dangers. Some reject advanced technology entirely, seeking harmony with the land itself.

These tribes rise, fall, and clash across each server, forming shifting alliances and rivalries. No two worlds develop the same way, as your actions contribute to the evolving political and cultural landscape of Hastaris.

As your colony endures, you’ll unlock new technologies, tactics, and opportunities that reflect your journey through Hastaris’s unforgiving world. Each era brings greater power and greater risk.

Every battle fought, alliance formed, and settlement lost becomes part of your legacy. Will you be remembered as a conqueror, a strategist, or one of the few who endured long enough to thrive?

Coloniser features massive, persistent RTS servers that evolve over weeks.

Up to 30 players share a single world where territory is contested, resources are finite, and the game does not pause when you log off. Alliances can shift, borders can fall, and unprotected colonies can be erased.

Current game modes include:

  • Extinction: Our main mode where you can lead your tribe to dominance in a sprawling, open-world RTS experience.

  • Conquest: A more challenging experience where you must protect your leader (the Justiciar) and your main building (the Capitol) to survive.

-

These persistent servers support large-scale conflicts, diplomacy, trade, and coordinated warfare. Strategic foresight and teamwork are essential - survival is never guaranteed.

If you enjoy strategy games where positioning matters, risk has consequences, and survival comes before expansion, Coloniser offers a tense and rewarding RTS experience unlike anything else.

Coloniser is designed for players who enjoy tension, risk, and long-term strategy in shared multiplayer worlds.

We think you'll love Coloniser if you enjoy...

    Playtest Patch Notes (0.0.1.2103.1.2552)

Salutations, Colonisers! The new patch is ready for playtesters. Servers are reset and progress is wiped after fixing major issues and introducing some new features. Please check it out:Upgraded Oath systemWe've mentioned before how we introduced the Objective (Oath) system that will give you options to claim and complete quests based on your playstyle. We've reworked it and expanded it with:- New Oath Board model (Now called Altar of Guidance)- Refactoring the system for improved stability and future expansion- Added different categories of Oaths to accommodate different play styles.- Added cancellation condition for Oaths. Abandoning the Oath will give you half of the resources you invested for triggering it. The same logic is applied to failing the oath. Here is the current types of available Oaths: Protection Oaths (focused on protection, endurance and stability)Kinship Oaths (focused on cooperation, trade and support)Sabotage Oaths (focused on pressure, disruption and undermining)Dominion Oaths (focused on conquest, ruling and overwhelming)Discovery Oaths (focused on exploration, journey and uncovering)It is worth noting that the type of oaths that appear for each player may be different as they are influenced by the number of players on the map, position on the high table, current player’s Era and other things. The oath categories are the same on each server, but some of the oaths themselves are unique to each and every server!New Buildings’ VisualsMany existing buildings received new visuals. They will look even better once we improve and implement the lighting and scale changes we have planned for this late Summer. For now, enjoy improved designs of these buildings: - Capitol, Homestead, Shelter, Barracks, Lumber Mill, Quarry, Stableyard, Palisade, Stockade, Stone Walls, Wooden Gate, Stone Gate, Towers.New Maps & Level ContentWe are working on the Map editor tool and new map designs. It’s a work in progress but, River Crossing is playable now. There are some ...

    New Map

Salutations, colonisers! If you've played Coloniser, you've probably explored a map that looks like this:This is Summit of Spears, a massive map that supports up to 30 players. It's large, sprawling, and has served us well throughout development. But after spending enough time on it, it can start to feel a little familiar. If you've been following our development blogs, you probably know that we're working on a map editor. To make that possible, we're first building the underlying rules and systems that will eventually power it. It's been a process of experimentation, iteration, and learning. When designing maps, we have to consider a lot of factors: elevation, water placement, player spawns, resource distribution, NPC locations, and much more.Using the tools and knowledge we've gained so far, we've created a new map: River CrossingRiver Crossing is a smaller-scale map designed for up to 16 players, at least for now. It is still work in progress. Its defining feature is a river that cuts through the landscape, with three bridges serving as key chokepoints connecting Side A and Side B. Both sides are mirrored, providing the same opportunities and challenges to everyone who joins the map.The layout also gives us a chance to observe how players approach resource gathering and progression. Resources are spread across the map, encouraging players to venture beyond their immediate surroundings and take a more proactive approach to expansion. These conditions should create some interesting interactions. Players may coordinate attacks across multiple bridges, establish temporary alliances to secure contested resources, or fortify critical crossings against larger enemy forces. At least, that's the theory. We'll let you be the judge once you get your hands on it.Playtesters should expect this feature very soon, so be sure to apply for the playtest and invite your friends if you haven't already. And, as always, wishlist the game and join our Discord for direct communication with us, ...

    Oath System

Salutations, colonisers!Let's talk about objectives. We've recently introduced Tenets and Oaths to the game, and playtesters have already started experimenting with them.Tenets act as guided objectives that help introduce players to the game's core mechanics and systems.Oaths provide smaller goals that encourage activities beyond simply attacking other players. You might be tasked with destroying raider camps, recruiting a certain number of units, or defeating specific enemies. Complete an Oath and you'll receive a reward, with a new one becoming available the following day.The system was... fine. But we felt it could be much better.Every player has a different playstyle and preferred pace of progression. With additional tribes currently in development, those differences will only become more pronounced. That's why we're already changing how the Oaths work. They will be available in the new building called Oath House (currently placeholder box). An Oath is a commitment made through this building that allows you to convert resources into a guided objective. Complete that objective and you'll be rewarded with Valor. The system is designed to support different approaches to the game and reward players for pursuing them. When selecting the Oath House, players will be presented with a range of available Oaths. These are generated based on factors such as the player's current Era, position on the High Table, and diplomatic relationships with discovered players. Oaths will be divided into several categories, each represented by a different color and focused on a particular style of play: Protection, Kinship, Sabotage, Dominion and Discovery. Each Oath has a cost, an objective, and a reward. More difficult, risky, or time-consuming Oaths provide greater rewards. Our goal is for Oaths to encourage meaningful, strategic, and thematic gameplay. Since a larger portion of Valor gain will be tied to this system, your choices and accomplishments should also be reflected more clearly on...

    Defense Fortification

Salutations, Colonisers! Are you enjoying the latest version of the game available through the public demo? It has changed significantly since the last release. The previous version was in a good state, but it showed some issues during long-running playthroughs. You can see this in a 7-day run by one of our team members:Simply put, being offline, especially when playing with certain types of players, can result in your colony being destroyed quickly. Being online is a huge advantage, and we don’t want the game to turn into a “wait until someone logs off and then attack” experience. We’ll talk more about how we plan to address this, but for now, we want to reduce the anxiety of being offline. That’s why we’re introducing a new feature: garrisoning (name still work in progress). Garrisoning allows units to occupy defensive buildings, increasing their effectiveness in defense and adding more strategic options.Simply select a unit and you’ll see the garrison action. Use it on a Capitol, Homestead, Tower, or Stronghold and watch the unit enter the building: You can click on a building to see how many units are currently garrisoned, as well as its maximum capacity, in the UI.There are two key benefits to this feature:Defensive buildings fire an additional projectile for each unit garrisoned inside.Garrisoned units begin to heal (healing speed can be improved through technologies). There are also some limitations:Not all units can garrison. Currently, siege weapons cannot, but we’ll evaluate this for future units.Different buildings have different capacities:Capitol / Homestead: 10 unitsTower: 3 unitsStronghold: 15 unitsIf a building with garrisoned units is destroyed, the units survive and have another chance to fight back.We plan to improve this feature further with better visuals and indicators, but we’re happy with its current state. It’s a great way to protect your units and your colony while you’re offline. How does it sound to you? Try it out in the public demo and let...
