Update Two - New Level and Grapple Hook!
Hi everyone! Hope you all are having a great October so far. We’re back with another update so let’s get into it! New Level Welcome to the Jungle! Well, a forest more accurately… and what a forest it is. This map has been a long time in the making and features some new more vertical gameplay sections. We’re still updating some of the target positions and haven’t finished the alternate paths quite yet, but this one is definitely one of our favorites so far. We also added the tutorial level as it’s own stand alone zone on the main map. We kept wanting to play it without going through the actual tutorial bits so this seemed like a good way to do it. This one is fun (and possible) to get every single target. Should we add some kind of bonus if you do? Grapple Hook This is the first step of a larger expansion to the gameplay system. The goal is to add some more interactivity and discovery in the levels that impact your play style. The grapple hook (used by hitting the grab button to send it out) allows you to grab targets and throw them as well as grab objects like trashcan lids to use as a shield. It’s a new system so it still needs some fine tuning and we’re looking forward to getting your feedback to refine it. Quick Graphics Note – sometimes when starting a new game the graphics can default to everything set at Epic, so if your game is chugging a bit make sure to adjust those graphic settings as needed. What’s Next? We’re making good progress on the rogue-like mode and aiming to get that into a beta state soon. It’s a total revamp of the game and includes a massive update to the shop, economy, and gameplay loop. Really excited to get that out and start getting feedback. The final biome level is also underway so ideally that will be shipping with the next update alongside the rogue-like mode. Of course, we still have plenty of optimizing and bug squashing to do, as well as honing the levels and adding polish like more sfx, interactions, etc. Building Throwback has bee...Read full article on Community Announcements (lookonjon)Patch NotesOfficial
Throwback Update One
One Month (ish) Update! Hi everyone! It’s been an exciting first month of early access and we’ve been hard at work gathering all your feedback and making updates to the game. Here’s the update breakdown: More Options The settings menu was lonely before, but no longer! Now you can adjust: Graphics – fine tune seven separate options or select “default” and the game will check your hardware and adjust to its best recommendation. Gameplay – adjust your throw strength to make it easier or harder to throw papers as well as new settings for the bike speed. Things get intense on crazy mode… We also added an auto bike positioning feature that is helpful for keeping your basket in reach at all times, but can also be toggled off if you prefer. Audio – this is the same as before, but we’re glad it’s there. Playable Tutorial We received a wide range of feedback which is great! But also indicated to us that we need a playable tutorial. So we made one! It walks you through the basics as well as the streak and style systems. It’s a fun level and a good way to get some starter cash! You can also skip it if you’re already a pro. New Enemy Types We’re still working on updating the enemy positions and patterns in the runs, so you won’t see many of these around quite yet. But our new additions include: Shielded drone that can only be zapped with an electrified paper Iced targets that can only be melted with a flaming paper Alternate Paths These are a lot of fun! Right now they are only implemented in the first map, but we love being able to discover them and explore the map from a totally different area. We plan on implementing more of these in future updates so we’d love to get your feedback. Bug Fixes and Optimizations The big ones here were: A sneaky visual glitch that was causing the UI to be all warble-y, which is fixed now! Updated the text box font so it’s more readable Changed the “Pogz” currency icon from the Tube (which many people thought was a trash can, which in hindsight m...Read full article on Community Announcements (lookonjon)AnnouncementsOfficial
Throwback swings into Early Access on July 14th, 2023!
Welcome to Throwback Early Access and thank you for checking it out! We’re so excited to finally get it out there and see what you all think. We’ve been working around the clock trying to get as many features in as possible while not tanking stability or performance, which of course is a delicate dance that we quietly observe from across the dance floor… That being said, we wanted to give you a good idea of the state of things for release and the things we will be working on in the short term, mid term, and long term. Let’s start with the launch build: The launch build has: - 3 playable levels, each with seven level goals each and some hidden tubes to find - The garage, which is basically your home base and includes An upgrade shop A bike customization station with unlockable skins A practice zone to fine tune your throwing and style A barcade with 1 unlockable arcade game A boardwalk with 2 unlockable boardwalk games A homerun derby minigame - The style system, which give you score multipliers for Tossing a paper up and catching it before hitting a target Catching a paper launched at you from an NPC or Turret and hitting a target with it Using the bat (which is grabbed from over your right shoulder) to hit papers into targets Launch build notes: - There are locked icons on the map for levels 4 and 5, however they aren’t in the game yet. - The 3rd level was the most ambitious so far thus we are still optimizing it and you may experience some frame rate dips in the final section. We are actively working on this and will be releasing an update as soon as it’s smoothed out. It’s not terrible, but if you are sensitive to frame rate you may want to hold off on level 3 until after the update. - We’ve been testing the game using Meta Quest 2 headsets via link cable. If you have a different headset and something feels off, please let us know either here in the Steam Community section, our Discord Channel, or the support form on our website. Roadmap Overview We have a ton of...Read full article on Community Announcements (jon)
