Ozai & Goddess - Lead DevelopersHello Primals!!!We bring good news!!! We’re getting ready to release a new patch for the current version of the game, bringing more quality-of-life improvements while also giving everyone the chance to test our first pass at the growth system. We feel growth is a much-needed mechanic that will push the game further toward the survival experience we’ve all been waiting for. Getting this patch into your hands will also give us good feedback as we continue developing and improving it.Alongside growth, this patch will introduce a brand-new map that will have more open Savanna plains. One of our main goals with this map was to create a world that feels more open and gives players greater visibility and room to move, explore, hunt, fight, and survive. The wider plains should also create different encounters between animals and make movement/awareness of your surroundings much more important. The new map will also include some of the newer environmental and world features that came with our new engine update. This gives us an opportunity to bring some of that newer technology into the current build and see how these features react with actual players running around the world. This will be especially important because we’ll also be using this upcoming patch to test server stability and overall game performance. What's Coming in the PatchFirst pass of the growth systemBrand-new map with larger, more open plainsNewer world and environmental features introduced with the new engine updateReworked damage systemKnockback attacks for certain animalsQuality-of-life improvementsServer stability and performance testingA plethora of bug fixes and general improvementsThe new version of the game still needs more development time before it’s ready. Rather than leaving the current build untouched while we continue working on it, we’ll be sending out hotfixes and other smaller additions to the current version whenever possible.Right now, there are still a few rem...

Ozai - Lead DeveloperHello Primals!!! This last month has been a roller coaster of new features, bugs, and updates to the entire game With the new release of Unreal engine 5.8 we have updated the project to take advantage of all it has to offer including optimizations to the engine and a plethora of new tools that will help of bring our new map to life in ways that weren't possible before. The African wild dog and Oryx are the first to receive their new rigs and animation development is underway. These two magnificent animals will make their way way into the new playtest once they are completed and ready for gameplay testing. Both animals will bring features that are unique to their species and will hopefully live up to the hype that these animals are known for. Abilities:The African wild dog will have pack oriented abilities and calls that will surely confuse and hinder their targets. The oryx will be a feisty herbivore that has the capabilities of impaling and ramming their target into the ground. The match up between these two animals will be legendary and I cant wait to get it into your hands for testing. Thank you all for your patience, constructive criticism, complaints, and faith in us Thank you all for your patience, constructive criticism, complaints, and faith in us-ZaiGoddess - Lead Developer Hello everyone! Over the past month, we've made a number of much-needed improvements to the project, focusing on the new features that came out, optimizations, and overall quality. These new features have significantly expanded what's possible, allowing us to push our landscape design far beyond previous limitations. With these new tools now in place, we can create more detailed, dynamic, and immersive environments than ever before. This month will be dedicated to testing as I continue sculpting the landscape and explore the full potential of these additions. One of the newest features, in particular, will make it much easier to design deeper cave systems and dens th...

Ozai - Lead DeveloperHello Primals!!! Little late on this dev blog for the month of April. This month we mainly focused on reorganizing the team and our next steps forward in development. Sadly we lost a team member she was one of the greatest people of all time and always will be. She helped turn our team around in many more ways than one, I will forever be thankful for her and with that we had to make necessary changes so that the game can still be on track for the next playtest. Goddess and I have started doing animation to help speed up that department of our game. We have decided to remove all placeholder animals and focus on putting our own polished creations in-game. With that we have simplified our list of animals that will be available in the next playtest with the rest of the animals being released at later dates. We feel that will help the game feel more unique and add the quality that our community is looking for. The playtest (when ready) will release with the;LionWild dog HyenaZebraBuffaloEast African OryxThis version of the game will also feature growth, scent, seasons, weather events and attributes. I am excited and anxious to start building the game in this route that we are taking and I cant wait to see you all in the wild again.Thank you all for your patience, constructive criticism, complaints, and faith in us-ZaiGoddess - Lead Developer Hello everyone! Last month and this month has been passing by very quickly. One of our main focuses at the moment, like Ozai mentioned above, has been learning animation so we can help the team work on models. Which has taken quite a bit of our attention at the moment since we want to produce something that not only fits our standards but also our community’s. Besides us doing animation, I just wanted to give a short update on other things we are working on at the same time. The Wilddog’s rig is being done and as soon as it is done, we will have animations started for it. We are looking at the Wilddog being in ga...

Hakai - Lead DeveloperHello Primals!!This month the primary focus has been to finish implementing the new main menu, controls, and additional gameplay features that are need to improve the experience of our players. I've also started work on additional ai with more realistic path following and interactions with the environment. Our main focus right now is delivering an amazing quality experience surviving as these animals. One of the new features coming to the game is the ability for foliage to fade once your animal is going through them. This will allow players to see themselves in dense areas and will remove the clutter from the camera. What's NextContinued Growth WorkAdmin PanelCombat RefinementsCompleting Gameplay CameraSwimming MovementScent OptimizationThank you all for your patience, constructive criticism, complaints, and faith in us-KaiGoddess - Lead Developer Hello everyone! This month I’ve been focused on a few different things; fixes for various things, optimization, map work, and also the first WIP of our models showing pregnancy/nursing/starving for our upcoming Life (survival) gamemode. Lion, Buffalo, and Zebra have been the focus but soon cheetah will be worked on and shown in our discord BTS (behind the scenes) once started. On the new map, Masai, you will now not only see the well known Acacia trees from before but also now other types of trees like Baobab that can be found in more dry savanna parts of the map. Weather, seasons and other dynamic interactions with the environment are next to get added back into the game as well. I will get more pictures posted soon after I work on the textures a bit more!Environment and Character Art Thank you all so much for the support!! We, as the whole dev team, really appreciate everyone for their patience as we get our game back on track. If you have any ideas or suggestions please feel free to leave us feedback or ideas in our discord!~GoddessAlkaline - Lead AnimatorHi guys! A bit of a shorter update from me th...

Hakai - Lead DeveloperHello Primals!!Firstly I wanted to thank you all for everything and it is because of you that we are still here and trying to reconnect with our community to be as transparent as possible with the future development of Primal Earth. We have embarked on this journey of creating a wildlife game where you can feel the immersion of what it means to live as one of these animals. After facing many difficult bugs and unforeseen problems within and outside of the game we were left with a decision that causes us to root ourselves and face the fact that we are just not ready to release the game. The team and I have come a long way from where we first started this project and with the knowledge that I have now that I didn't have then I am confident that I can get this game to where it needs to be. The current live version of the game was constantly crashing and ruining the experience of what we are trying to create. Since the baby versions of our animals were not ready to come to the game we decided to cut the growth out and play as the adult only, this later lead to the gameplay feeling as if there isn't anything to do and more so like a sandbox than survival. A substantial amount of time and money were spent on our models and trying to get them game ready from different studios and freelancers; Unfortunately the quality of work we received after the deed was done just didn't meet our expectations and the work was scrapped. So instead of continuing to pay for work that we weren't happy with we decided to learn how to correct these mistakes ourselves. It has felt like a mountain of problems and we are just now arriving at the turning point. Improvements have been made to the project as well as our upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.7 the game is finally working as intended with UI and save features. This month I have focused more on the movement and refining it as much as possible as well as introducing our new camera features that should enhance the experience a...
