About this game

A dull thud was the last thing the dutiful Gardener Golem B3-RT heard before everything went black. Now almost 100 years later he awakens on a deserted island. And does WHAT??

GARDENING OF COURSE!!

Golembert is a management, gardening and story game with the following features:

  • Build your dream garden! Choose from a variety of pots, fields, raised beds and decorations and receive new designs from quests!

  • Discover your green thumb! Take care of your own plants in a well-thought-out circular economy inspired by permaculture - including a composting system!

  • Do magical stuff! Renovate the island, brew potions, find new recipes and help the little magical inhabitants of your garden to get new seeds from other islands!

  • Find friends & do quests! Be visited by two different ships and befriend their crew members to do quest for or barter with them!

  • Protect your island! Meet the fire spirit Helio and help him protect your island from the evil machinations of an anonymous blackmailer...

This game will 100% include:

  • 12+ cute NPCs with more than 150 cute dialogues!

  • Chill 6h+ (main quest) gameplay with adjustable daytime length!

  • A lot of quests! (20+ main quests, 50+ sidequests)

  • Gardening with 12 different types of plants!

  • Potion crafting with 40+ potions! (both plant yields and potions are used to fullfil quests)

This game will NOT include:

  • Farming sim rudiments like fishing, mining, leveling, stamina, health or combat!

  • Life sim features like dating or building your own house! (you can decorate your garden though!)

  • Multiplayer (and we are sorry for that)

  • Roguelike deckbuilding (but the game comes with a frustratingly hard card minigame called Ershiyi - maybe that's something for you then!!!)

These lists are here as a disclaimer because we are a small two-people selfpublishing indie dev studio and Golembert is our first game. We will do everything to deliver you the game presented here. But some things (like all the points of the NOT included-list) are beyond our vision, possibilities, and/or capabilities. Please keep that in mind! :)

Oh, you are still reading? Then maybe consider following this game! C:

    July-August 26 Update

Belated Buon Ferragosto! 🏖️😊We celebrated the triumph of our favourite first emperor as they intended on the Romagna coast for a week. But what did we do the other weeks?? What we did in the last 2 months:1. We received a lot of playtesting feedback! 📝😗5 people playtested our demo and sent us more than 6 hours of playtesting footage that resulted in almost 100 individual feedback points we fixed/implemented!!!We are playtesting in waves to implement the feedback between them and we will increase the number of total playtesters per wave in the future. So if YOU want to playtest Golembert before its official demo release at the end of this year, join our Discord to request a key!2. We uploaded a new devlog! 🎞️🥳Alicia made stunning a new devlog about the last two months of her development process! It covers the Herbit Settlement, portraits for NPCs like Susu, Tomo, and Crane, as well as the latest Gardening UI Rework and a short sum up of our current playtestings. Definitely check it out on YouTube if you haven’t already!!!And what are we currently working on? 🤔1. We are increasing our playtesting capacities! 🔋Because so many people requested a demo key in our Discord server over the last two weeks and because of the recent positive (meaning: very little negative) demo feedback, we will increase our playtesting wave sizes. So far only 4 people playtested a build at a time. We will probably go up to 6. That may mean: more feedback or feedback footage to look through, OR: the same amount of feedback because the demo got better. Let’s hope for the latter one!If you want to request a key too, feel free to do so in our Discord server!2. We are fixing our clipping issues! 📎Currently the whole island is still one big sprite. That means that permanent obstacles like balustrades or low wall aren’t rendered behind the main character because they have no separate layer order identity. We will fix that by cutting out all objects that should be rendered in front. Easy! And that’s it...

    June 26 Update

🏝️ Hey guys, the year is already half over, so I'm hurrying up to get this post out! 🥵What we did last month:1. The first members of our Discord server playtested our demo! 🥳This month, we launched our semi-public demo playtest on Discord. That means the first people from outside our extended circle have now tested our demo!!! The feedback has been very good so far (and there were no game-breaking bugs during the Discord playtests too - though there were some in other playtests lol (((but they occured on Linux which is not supported)))) Would you also like to try out the demo before it becomes available to everyone at the end of the year? Then join our Discord server via this link and request a key! 🔑2. We added more music to the game! 🎻Since the orchestral recording sessions in March, our composer Luca has been hard at work making additional recordings with guitarists, mandolin players, cellists, and on his own piano to expand the musical range of Golembert. Depending on the mood, you can now experience our soundtrack featuring everything from soaring brass to the laid-back sounds of the mandolin. Would you like to hear that? Then consider joining the next playtest on our Discord hehe 😇And what are we currently working on?1. We are working on the Herbit settlement! 🏙️Now that our demo is technically complete and contains everything intended, we are turning our attention back to the full game. While the demo does not allow you to build the Herbit Settlement, from which expeditions to other islands can be launched, the full game will let you not only build it but also expand it. We are currently creating the visual assets for these expansion. 2. We’re adding Susu’s portraits! ☠️🦜All the demo's NPCs (Helio and Herbit) and Golembert already have their portraits implemented. In the full game, in addition to these two characters, you will also encounter the Trade Co. franchisees Milly and Maynard (who also already have their portraits implemented) and the pirate captain ...

    May 2026 Update

Hey, June 🪲Don’t make it badTake the \ and make it betterRemember to let \ into your heartThen you can startTo make it Better (loosely quoted from J. Paul 'Macca' McCartney's song Hey Jude, written in June 1968)What we did last month: 🤗1. We received playtesting feedback & implemented it! 🔧We sent out some demo keys and quickly received 4.7 hours of playtesting footage with audio commentary/feedback from 3 different playtesters this month (🤯). Because they all tested out everything one can do in the demo (and therefore generated superb feedback), the feedback implementation and fixing took veeery long (4 weeks 🥵). BUT it fixed stuff like:Left and right clicking wasn’t distinguished in a understandable way. Now left clicking means: use, right clicking means: interact.Harvesting plants in raised beds didn’t delete their internal save. When picking up the raised bed and replanting it the harvested plant still existed.Plants didn’t indicate if they are in reach of an Olla/sprinkler before placing. Now they do!There was no interact priority leading to overwatering plants while refilling an Olla (when hovering over both at the same time). Now plants always have priority, which means: you cannot place or pick up an object, refill an Olla, or seed when the plant UI is showing (this may lead to workarounds in the future lol). 2. We added some of the last missing ingame assets! 🎨Some ingame assets like the Potion Crafting Desk or the Sleep Capsule were still prototypical up until now and got their final visuals. Watering Cans and Ollas got different sprites for their different item tiers, Marker Items and Essences got some polish, and the garden debris got its own visuals (borrowed the art from the decorative limestone slabs before that). And what are we currently working on? 🤔1. We are working on our next demo beta build! 🏗️We have the next 4 waves of playtesters already filled, therefore we want to get the next demo build ready soon. If you want to be part of any playtestin...

    April 2026 Update

May the forth be with you! 💫Or… the eighth? Anyway, it’s May! So may I inform you of the duties we fulfilled in the bygone April. What we did last month:1. We set up our Discord server! 🌐We FINALLY set one up! If you’re interested in playtesting the demo or just want to stay updated on the game and its progress, consider joining our Discord server! We are currently still playtesting the game with people we know BUT we will transition into semi-public playtesting in the next couple of months with… you??? 😗2. We made a new devlog! 🎞️YEESSS!! 🥳 Alicia made a new devlog about our latest milestones: our soundtrack’s Live Score Recordings, Helio's House rework, and our new Discord server, as well as how things stand development wise. Be sure to check it out on YouTube!!!3. We received playtesting feedback & implemented it! 📝We again received approximately 2.5 hours of gameplay video footage from 2 external playtesters, which yielded 55 individual feedback points, 54 of which we fixed (Compost tiers saving & loading still doesn't work properly). In addition, we did some internal playtesting and implemented 33 minor fixes. Here's a selection of some of the implemented external feedback fixes:Ingame time didn’t process due to an AmbientManager.Tick error on first start of the game (!!!game breaking!!! but is now fixed)Crop UI didn’t show if plant is complete or not (has a percentage displayed now)Compost wasn’t auto-watered by rainSeeding on rain should result in instant perfect wateringQuest reward is now spawned on player position if inventory is fullAnd what are we currently working on?1. We are trying to get more playtesting feedback! 📝Based on the feedback of the last two months, we've reduced the size of our demo (previously it took up to 2.5 hours, now around 40 minutes to complete). We're currently sending this smaller version out to our wider network and aim for two feedback and implementation iterations this month. 😇2. We’re polishing demo-relevant assets! 💅Besides ...

    March 2026 Update

Happy Easter, fellow Chrisians!Just as Christ yeeted himself into heaven a few weeks and a couple years ago, we’re again cranking out a new Update post for you, my beloved. What we did last month:1. We recorded our soundtrack with the Filmorchester Babelsberg! Thanks to the super cool people from the as well Berlin-based AudioCreatures, we were part of their live recording sessions with the Babelsberg Film Orchestra this month. We spent two days at the film studios and had two 30-minute recording slots to record the 5 main tracks of our game with real humans. Having a 100% non-AI and hand-made soundtrack was/is really important to us to match our hand-made visuals and implementations. Therefore we were super stoked to hear our music live for the first time!!!Around 50 people were involved in these recordings, most of them the truly fantastic musicians from the film orchestra. Both days were incredibly exciting and fun. Luca, our composer, and Markus from AudioCreatures did a fantastic job. There's even a short video of the live score recordings on YouTube that you can check out to get a feel for those two days!2. We gathered a lot of playtesting feedback!Fellow devs playtested our game and sent us gameplay videos with voiceovers that accumulated to 5 hours (!) of pure feedback with over 220 individual feedback points (of which we have implemented most) this month. Feedback we got and implemented were for example:There should be a visual grid displayed when placing stuff on gridCrops should display their neighbourhood range as radius (on hover over and before planting them)Pots can only be picked up when hitting them on points that touch the ground (feels weird)Items disappear when clicking them in a specific order (leftclick item A, rightclick item B)Key rebinding is not working (still not fixed) Overall the game still features a lot of information that is still not that easy to understand. How do you pick up stuff? How does neighourhood work? How does the compost wo...
