About this game

REVERSE ROADMAP

About the Game

This is Tyr, a tank shooter where positioning, strategic decision-making, and mastery of unique abilities win.

TANKS

Tyr features a roster of specialized armored vehicles and pilots. You’ll take control of treaded and hover tanks alike as you angle & position for defense, and rumble and glide across the battlefield.

CUSTOMIZATION

Each vehicle also offers its own tech tree and ammo & component slots, affording you the ability to upgrade and evolve your ride to suit your playstyle. You may even be able to change up your vehicle’s unique keystone tech to dynamically alter your personal meta.

ABILITIES

Each vehicle features a unique power that impacts Tyr’s moment-to-moment play on the battlefield. A tank may have the ability to blink several vehicle lengths forward or back, send out a sonar pulse to spot enemies, or overcharge its engine to ram directly into an opponent and deal massive damage.

ASYMMETRIC VISION

In Tyr, you and your opponents will only be visible when within range or while making enough noise. Deciding when to push forward and when to fire from cover could mean the difference between staying hidden and revealing your position to the entire enemy team, so play carefully.

STRATEGY

Tyr will test your mental mettle, patience, and teamwork, as deliberate play beats whoever can fire the fastest.

FEATURES

  • Multiplayer tank shooter - Engage in strategic team battles with heavy-armored vehicles

  • A roster of heavy armor - Tanks in Tyr each feature a unique armor profile that you can angle and position to deflect enemy shots in the heat of battle

  • Vehicle customization - Individual tech trees, ammo slots, and component upgrades for each tank

  • Keystone tech variations - Max level your tank to unlock meta-changing tech

  • Asymmetric vision - Position yourself correctly, and you’ll see the enemy and spot them for your team, while the enemy can't see you in return

  • Unique vehicle abilities- Each tank has a distinct ability that makes moment-to-moment play more high-stakes and interesting

  • Strategy beats twitch reflexes - Run and gun gameplay gets punished by careful positioning and slow, deliberately placed shots to disable enemies

Week one of Early Access, balance changes, Discord integration, and what's next

We’re already one week past Tyr’s Early Access launch. We’ve been incredibly happy to see all the feedback coming in and all the time players have already sunk into Tyr. It’s been a great launch, aside from the first 20 minutes when our servers were aggressively hugged by the influx of new players. 😅Thank you for your patience while we got everything situated. Things should have been stable since then, and we’ve been hard at work reading your feedback, digging into the data, and preparing our first post-launch patches. We aim to publish one of these dev updates every two weeks, usually alongside a game update. In this one, we’re looking back at our first week of Early Access, sharing an important upcoming change to the Discord requirement for Clans, breaking down today’s mid-month balance patch, and teasing what’s coming in the larger end-of-month patch. If you're new here, we always publish these dev updates in video and written formats. Find that video below, and the written version after.Let’s get into it.Early Access launch has been great for usWe want to share a little context regarding where Tyr is today and how we’re approaching Early Access.Internally, we had set a target of reaching roughly 1,000 concurrent players at Early Access launch, picking up essentially where we left off in playtesting. We’ve already cleared 3,000 to 4,000 concurrents, which has been a wonderful surprise.More importantly, this launch happened without a paid marketing campaign. No streamers, no ads, no paid trailers, nothing. We wanted to see how our launch went organically with a focus on Tyr and its players. You'll see some ads soon; we have a plan for those, but we wanted this first run to exist without them. Our current reach is also primarily North American and English-language. That represents only a small portion of the worldwide audience for tank games (like 5%, by our guess). Additional languages, regions, and broader marketing efforts are still ahead of us.We want to be transpa...

[UPDATED] Weekend Ranked timing & Ranger's graduation from the Alpha Program

Update: We're not turning ranked off tonight.Tyr launched into Early Access last week, and we saw a larger influx of players than anticipated. So, we've decided to expand the Ranked Solo / Duos window earlier than expected. We're going to leave the Ranked Solo / Duos queues on for now in order to evaluate. We don't have a shut-off time in mind, but we'll announce here once we've made a decision.GL;HF. 🫡Original Post Below 👇We launched Tyr into Early Access this week, and (minus 15-30 minutes of servers being hugged to death at launch) things have been running smoothly. Thanks for being here, thanks for your feedback, and thanks for playing Tyr.When's Ranked opening? We'll offer two Ranked modes this weekend, and playing Ranked requires that you have at least two tanks at level 20. Only level 20 tanks can play in Ranked, and no Alpha Program tanks are allowed.Ranked Teams will be available on Saturday from 9am PT until 12pm PTRanked Teams requires a full Squad of 8 playersRanked Solo / Duos will be available from 12pm PT on Saturday until 8pm PT on SundayWe'll be keeping an eye on the matches and player base during these windows to get a sense of how Ranked flows now that we're in Early Access.Ranger's graduated from the Alpha ProgramRanger is the newest Alpha Program graduate, and the first to do it since we moved to Early Access. We're marking the occasion with a new trailer dedicated to the tank. For the new players: the Alpha Program is our way to get very in-development tanks into players' hands in order to gather feedback as we polish them for inclusion in the complete roster. Joining the Alpha Program requires joining our Discord for feedback. You'll need to unlock the Alpha Graduates once they hit the main roster, but any progression you've made on the tanks is retained. To our Alpha Program members: thanks for helping shape Ranger into the high-flying tank it is today.See you on the battlefield. 🫡

Tyr enters Early Access on September 2nd, 2026

The big news: Tyr launches into Early Access on September 2nd, 2026.Welcome back to another Tyr dev update. This is a big one. As always, we’ve got this update in written and video form, so if you’d rather watch and listen, you can do that right here. With that, let's begin.Tyr is launching into Early Access on September 2ndWe don’t have the exact launch timing locked in yet, but we’re currently shooting for the afternoon Pacific time. This is a big step for us, but we also want to frame it the right way. We’ve been working on Tyr for about four years now. We started private playtesting with a very small group more than three years ago, and some of those players are still hanging out in our Discord and playing today. Over time, those playtests have slowly expanded, the game has grown a lot, and we’re really happy with the direction things are moving.Early Access is not the finish line, though. It’s the next step.Today's patch represents the content that will be available when Early Access launches. The biggest difference is that, starting on September 2nd, Tyr will be online all the time. No more waiting for playtest windows. No more downtime between public tests. We’ll be moving into a new phase where we take feedback from a much larger audience and keep building, adjusting, and improving as we roll. It’s another day for Tyr. Just with the servers on. All the time. 😅Tyr will be free to playWe only sell cosmetics. Nothing is pay-to-win. We don't sell tanks, lock playable content behind money, or sell boosters. At the start of Early Access, you'll buy cosmetics with Gold. The only way to buy Gold at launch will be through the Tyr Founder’s Pack, though that may change later. The Founder’s Pack is totally optional. It will launch on September 2nd, 2026, and it will cost $14.99. The Founder's Pack includes:3,000 GoldAn exclusive Founder titleAn exclusive Golden Founder charmWe value 100 gold at $1, so the pack includes $30 worth of Gold for $14.99, plus the title and charm.T...
