About this game
Degenheim is an action-packed isometric rogue-lite hack & slasher, set in a world gone absolutely mad.

Slash your way through hordes of degenerate enemies in a world where nothing is off limits and become the hero we did not deserve, but so desperately needed. Choose your path and playstyle, upgrade your talents, equip yourself with weird items and even weirder effects, then slap some upgrades on those as well until your power levels are over 9000. Go HAM and wreak absolute havoc between your adversaries. Retribution is served!
Every run is different and unique. The unstable world of Degenheim always gives you different environments, different enemies, different encounters, different abilities and different circumstances. Tap into the world with seemingly endless possibilities, combinations, and some seriously questionable choices. The name of the game is endless replayability.
Never fear failure! Each death or failed encounter will ultimately help you to advance further, piece by piece. With each run you get better, stronger, and more beefed up - whether you succeed or not. Gather valuable resources which you can spend for persistent upgrades in your homebase, allowing you to venture beyond what you have seen thus far and see how the game world unfolds. Now go get juiced up and whoop some degenerate butts out there.

Get ready to kick some ass!
Good day Degenheim Fam! Even though many of you have already noticed, the new and updated Demo has been lowkey out in the wild for a couple of months now, which helped us to collect further data and feedback. We are now officially announcing it, as we are happy with the current state of the game.. So, what’s the Demo about, and what is new in our latest version 0.3.3? Here’s the digestible breakdown: Demo Content – This Demo features 3 out of the total 10 chapters, each chapter is associated with chapter-specific unlockable ability pools, unique mini-bosses and bosses, environments and enemies. You will have 7 out of total 22 unhinged heroes to unlock (we originally planned a roster of 20, but sometimes you just have to vent the creativity, or perhaps insanity), a fully functional online 4-player co-op, 5 game difficulties for the masochists, and a leaderboard to bolster the good ‘ole competitive spirit. And of course, we just had to add new (freaking 7 thus far) game events that randomly spawn in levels to stir the pot a bit, like exploding poop or spitting toilets. Yeah, hard to explain, you better see for yourself. Oh, and did we mention 14 new abilities you can further customize your playstyle with and literally meme on your friends? ‘Cuz yeah, that got in too. With this, we will also be saying bye to our long-running closed-beta Playtest, bon voyage, and cheers to the new chapter! Detailed Changes – Levels: - First 3 chapters’ environments got visual overhauls Items: - Revamped how Item forging works (you now always need 3 items of the same type and rarity to forge a higher tier) - Revamped how Item stats work (your bonuses from rank 1 and rank 2 abilities are now cumulative) Support & Fixes: - Complete controller scheme overhaul - The new scheme should now be fully compatible with Xbox/PS5 controllers - The new scheme should now be fully compatible with SteamDeck and other Handhelds - Significantly changed and improved how Ranged and AOE abilities are targeted...Read full article on Community Announcements (Highrise Studios)AnnouncementsOfficial
THE DEMO
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44772378/e3a87b57df9275818afd1475d4084d265700aa68.png Good day Degenheim Fam! ːsteamhappyː First and foremost, we would like to thank all of you who followed Degenheim development on our Discord and Socials and now expressed interest in Degenheim Demo during Steam’s Next Fest - you guys rock! All the bug reports we have received helped us to understand where the pesky bugs are and see all the issues that went under the radar. We would never be able to investigate those without you. To provide a little bit of context – we are fully aware that the Demo was far from smooth and bug-free experience. Unfortunately, many of the issues that appeared, never happened during the countless hours of internal testing by dozens of testers. Needless to say, if we were not confident about the state of the Demo, we would not have released it. The Demo release helped us to identify some of the deep-rooted flaws in our Enemy AI and the way it communicates with the Server – as many of you already know – we have embarked on a long journey of adjusting the game’s code base to be server-authoritative, both to enable the Co-Op mode as well as allow for the endgame competitive mode we have planned to be cheaters-free. This of course, besides the obvious extension of the development time, opened the floodgate to plenty new bugs and problems to solve. Demo launch also helped us to better understand how the Servers provided directly by Unity operate, and as there is not much available documentation, we had to figure out why the matchmaking and lobby systems did not work as intended (ie. Players from United States were connected to the Europe servers and thus had laggy and delayed input providing for janky and unsatisfying feeling). We are now in the process of optimizing the game and eliminating all of these issues, but due to their complexity, it is going to take some time. For the time being, majority of the bugs can be bypassed by restarting the game, but we know having to...Read full article on Community Announcements (Highrise Studios)
