About this game

PROJECT MIX is a VR anime narrative game.

Set in alternate-history 90s Hong Kong, you play as Rone, a young former thug starting a new beginning to try to leave behind his life of crime. He unexpectedly becomes a bartender after a chance meeting with Valencia, the eccentric bar owner of Eleventh Heaven in the seedy Mong Kok district.

At first, you live by the paycheck working at Eleventh Heaven, but as you find yourself hearing a bit too much for your own good, you find yourself thrown into a deep conspiracy.

Key Features:

  • Meet unique characters and learn about Mong Kok from differing perspectives.

  • Shake, pour, decorate, and serve. Interactive bartending mechanics built from the ground up for VR.

  • What you choose to serve changes the lives of your clients, and even the game narrative.

  • A focus on the small and subtle moments, such as having a smoke after work, sharing a drink, and petting your cat.

  • Explore the world through gorgeous and atmospheric environments featuring stylized anime visuals.

  • Interactive character moments and relationship building with detailed romance routes. Meet a variety of characters from all walks of life.

  • Original soundtrack tailored especially for the game, ranging from jazz, synthpop to citypop.

  • Different play modes supported. The game can be played comfortably seated or standing, and even in your bed if you dare so.

Non-VR Version

While our long-term vision is to build the leading VR anime/Asian game studio, we want as many people as possible to experience PROJECT MIX. If we can make a decent profit (enough to keep us off the streets for a few years), we will reinvest the money into developing a non-VR version.

However, it won't be a basic first-person mode that any modder can throw together. Instead, it will feature completely redesigned controls, cinematic camera work, and tailored UI visuals, to more closely match what you may expect from Catherine or the Persona series. It will be a title that stands on it's own.

    Happy PROJECT MIX Demo Anniversary!!

Happy PROJECT MIX Demo Anniversary!!🎉 The cast from the PROJECT MIX demo. Expect to see more of them in the full game! The Life Changing VR DemoOkay, story time - gather 'round. I can't believe it's already been a year since the demo was released. We'd been working on it since 2022, reiterating over and over as we faced challenges and doubt.  A visual novel in VR? A VR ANIME game? Why?? Where's the "gameplay"?? No one wants to play your gooner game / smoking sim / non-game!  But the support we've received has far outweighed the hate, and I'm really grateful for that. I still remember the incredibly tough week leading up to the demo. It was stormy both mentally and literally (we live on an island), I was dealing with an illness, and in general, I was prepared for the worst.  Instead, the reception was INSANE. We’d playtested it with our community and refined it a lot, so we had a sense that we had something cool, but there was no way to predict what would happen.  Within hours, there were an overwhelming number of positive comments, posts, and videos about the project. After years of grind and uncertainty, it was a cathartic moment. We had an an awesome countdown live stream thanks to our fans :)People got straight to playing the demo and petting the cat lolOne of the crazy things players did. I was shocked.More Than a GameOver 80,000 people have played the demo, and there's over 1000 positive reviews!!It’s amazing that the demo represents far more than just a game for our fans - for many, it’s a retreat from reality; for others, it’s a beacon of hope in the sea of F2P VR games; and for some, it’s something they can relate to personally. For me, PROJECT MIX is far more than a game - it’s an embodiment of my own taste, culture, and life experiences, and represents what I’d like a VR game to feel like. I really hope to make games that are more than just something to "play" - I want them to touch the player's soul.  I'm so happy that PROJECT MIX has been able to bring so...

Demo Patch 3.5 - A few optimizations to reduce stuttering

This small patch implements several improvements we learned during the Quest 3 port to maintain visual quality while improving performance. Most changes will not be noticeable to the naked eye.Made longer audio files stream in to reduce stuttersReplaced background bottles in the staffroom with tailored opaque bottles to improve draw call performanceCreated a special unlit shader that uses the average light probe color to maintain a flat look with correct environmental coloring. This will be used for various background elements.Fixed an issue where particles and liquids inside glasses were briefly visible when pulling the reset leverRewrote the Item Spawner to prevent stuttering during bar loadupOculus Reset View now recenters properlyOptimized texture resolutions to reduce wasted memory and spaceFlares now fade in and out using a Material Property BlockLiquids in RTDs are now disabled when not in useFrom here, we'll likely release one more update to fix the character controller, but aside from that, we'll be putting our full focus on the full game! Also, I'm not sure if anyone here is interested, but the demo will be coming to Meta Quest 3 standalone this October.

PROJECT MIX Demo Patch #3 - More Bug Fixes and Improved Chinese Localization

Update Summary:This is a small follow-up patch where we fixed a couple more issues and invited a member of the PROJECT MIX community to improve the quality of the Chinese localization. Thanks, 尘柒!For the rest of this month, we'll be focusing on making a Meta Quest 3 standalone demo happen, as well as working on the full game. There will be some more demo bug fixes and refinements next month, so keep an eye out for that. Once again, we won't be adding new "content" to the demo, that's what playing the full game is for.Patch Notes:Fixed an issue where ready-to-drink cans sometimes fell through the counterFixed an issue where Cliff sometimes didn’t accept the Shaolin beerAdded button sounds to UI elements and tweaked the volumeFixed the drink recipe display fonts for Japanese and Simplified ChineseUpdated the text at the end of the demoImproved the Chinese localization, thanks to a community memberFixed an issue where grabbing a handle with two hands would remove one of themAdded haptic feedback for doorsLocalized more UI elements

PROJECT MIX Demo Patch #2 - Bug Fixes, QOL features, and Chinese Localization

Update Summary:This update focused on fixing a bunch of bugs, improving the back end, and adding quality-of-life features. One notable bug is the one where some players got soft-locked in the bar and couldn't progress. That's now fixed! We added support for MSAA anti-aliasing, so you can enjoy the game with less flickering. It’s disabled by default, but you’ll find an option to toggle between None, 2x, 4x, and 8x in the System Menu. You’ll also be able to skip the alleyway scene if you’ve already seen it once. And last but not least, we added localization support for Simplified Chinese! It’s machine-translated, and not all game elements could be translated, so don’t expect it to be perfect. But it will make the game much more accessible to our Chinese-speaking audience. Will the demo keep receiving updates? We’re not quite done with bug fixes yet - we’ll continue to do regular maintenance work that will also carry over into the full game. Some small things like UI visuals will also be updated over time. In fact, we will release another small patch early next month to fix a couple of other things. However, we won’t be adding new content to the demo because we want to focus on making the full game happen, and this is about as much content as we want to show off in a demo. Buy the full game once it's out to play more and support us!Current Status:Good news — we are now in full production! That means we’re working on content for the full game. We’ve successfully hired a new 3D Artist, Programmer, and 2D Graphic Designer to support us. For a small team like ours, even three extra pairs of hands make a huge difference, since the game has a large number of assets to create.Besides working on the full game, we’re also preparing a demo for standalone Quest users.Keep an eye on our socials to see what we’re up to!Patch Notes:Added a skip button for the alleyway scene if you've already seen it onceAdded MSAA anti-aliasing drop down in the system menuAdded haptic feedback to the shower...
