Maces and Dices is a turned based rogue-like where dice decide what actions you can take, but it is up to you to make the most out of every roll. When both your healthbar and available actions consist of dice, you better hope that you have brought the right ones.

In Maces and Dices, strategic planning meets luck-based action. Roll the dice to decide your fate in this turn-based rogue-like where your survival hinges on smart decisions and lucky rolls.
About this game
Turn based dungeon crawler
The dice have been re-rolled; it is a new turn. Plan ahead and see what is optimal in the situation or play fast and hope for the best. Keep enemies at a safe distance or kill them off before they get to you. When the turn is over, it will be too late to run.Unique health system
There is no standard health bar in this game. When an enemy attacks, your dice take damage and break, in the order that you placed them. Make sure the most important dice breaks last, since there is little hope of victory if the enemy broke your ability to move.
Three dungeon types with a total of 15 unique dice
The game has only started when the first boss is beat. Reveal the new dungeons with a completely new set of dice and enemies, each dungeon promoting different playstyles. The enemies themselves are unique and have different movement and attacking patterns. By learning the abilities of enemies, you will be able to plan with precision.
Upgradable arsenal
Throughout the levels you will not only find new dice to pick up, but there are also upgrades to be assigned. The upgrades are applied per dice, so better pick carefully. Upgrades expand on the dice’s usability, sometimes even letting you play in a way that was not possible without the upgrade.System Requirements

The rumbly update! (1.1.1)
Here comes a small patch fixing a few bugs and adding vibration support for gamepads and the steamdeck! Patchnotes: Removed the ability to spawn a storm on top of another storm. This could cause a crash if it causes the player to infinitely move back and forth. (Thanks to "A Stick In A Can" for reporting it!) Added rumble/vibration when playing with gamepads (and a setting to turn it off). This works great with my old xbox controller, but sadly it seems like the rumble capabilities of the steam deck are very weak in comparison. This was something I missed when doing the gamepad update, so I'm glad it's in the game now! Added sound effect for killing a lurker by dragging it out of it's weeds Fixed the "A" button hint on end turn being visible even if using keyboard/mouse That's all, if you have not reviewed the game yet, I would still love to hear your feedback!Read full article on Community Announcements (NitramiuZ)AnnouncementsOfficial
Native controller support!
You can now play Maces and Dices from the comfort of a gamepad, without having to emulate a mouse. The whole game, including menus can be accessed with a controller, which makes it perfect to play on the Steam Deck! Quick explanation of the control scheme (on an XBOX layout): Left stick works as WASD on keyboard, shortcut for movement For other dice, use L1/R1 to pick the dice you want to use, then (A) to select it. When a dice is selected, pick your target for the action with L1/R1 or right/left stick, then press (A) again to play the dice. You can also press (B) to cancel. When not actively playing dice, the (A) button is used to end your turn, (X) can also be used for this. The same L1/R1 scheme is used when placing new dice and upgrading, with (A) to confirm. Patchnotes: Added native controller support Fixed a few input related edge cases Patched a bug forcing the game to be in debug mode (this is no longer the case, which could improve performance) Although it might not seem as much, this update has been in the works for almost two months. "Porting" a mouse-dependant game to a controller takes quite a bit of effort, but the main reason is because of the fact that I have started at university, which reduces my ability to work on the game. Future: I have an idea for a final, gameplay heavier update, which would introduce a new and interesting way to play the game. I can not promise anything, but it will hopefully arrive eventually. Have fun with the much improved experience on Steam Deck/controller!Read full article on Community Announcements (NitramiuZ)Patch NotesOfficial
Patch 1.0.1
A small update to adress some bugs with the totem dice and the auto exit button. Patchnotes Fixed bug where the totem dice weren't placeable on the first turn in a new level if it was placed when exiting the last one. Fixed bug which caused the autoexit to missbehave if enabled while still moving Fixed bug where ghosts wouldn't move on repair/reroll actions of a totem dice Tweaked the totem area highlight texture for when you have upgraded range Removed secret debug cheatcode I will also take this opportunity to leave a friendly reminder that if you have any opinions about the game, please leave a review as it helps future players and me!Read full article on Community Announcements (NitramiuZ)AnnouncementsOfficial
Maces and Dices is released!
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44129476/e969239167f64c8c939730f4881dcebdf3893b66.png After a bit more than a year of development my first indie game has released. This is exciting! Good luck to everyone that bought the game! As it is a rogue like, it can be a bit difficult at the start, but if you take your time to learn the mechanics, you will be able to conquer the dungeons with ease. I am starting at university tomorrow, but I will do my best to read all feedback bug reports and implement them asap! Please use the steam discussion page to report such bugs.Read full article on Community Announcements (NitramiuZ)Patch NotesOfficial
Update 0.5.3
This update adresses some minor (and some slightly bigger) bugs and brings an improved and longer music track for world 3 Patchnotes: The music track in world 3 has been updated to be longer and less repetitive. Fixed bug with the autoexit path not updating if you teleport Fixed a bug causing the pull dice upgrade to not do anything Fixed a bug causing the win screen to display "try again" instead of "next world" when completing world 2. Fixed a bug causing the grid display not to update when entering a new world. Started work on implementing controller support, (you will still need steam mouse emulation to be able to play though). Will finish it if there is a demand for it.Read full article on Community Announcements (NitramiuZ)
