Navigate through KAGIDOKO, an experimental horror game where every door conceals a threat from the pre-trained Deep Learning Gameplay AI. Collect keys and escape before the relentless pursuit begins.

About this game

"There's nowhere to hide from it. All the corridors will lead to a dead end.
But it will disappear... Only if you manage to look at it under the light."

In KAGIDOKO, you are not the one who are expected to hide.

Actually, you can't.

Instead, you need to predict where the ghost could be hiding, and look right at it...
Before it sneaks up right behind you for a jumpscare.

Once the ghost decides that you can no longer be jumpscared, it will disappear.
Just to come back later, of course.

Collect all keys, open all doors, don't get jumpscared, and get out of that house.

That's all. Good luck.

The AI model (brain) in this game is roughly 3MB in size,
while YOUR brain is... About 112 million times larger than that.

Human brains are much smarter, larger, and complex than you think.
You have already outsmarted the AI by 112 million times while you are reading this.

This game is not meant to demonstrate AI supremacy or anything,
but is meant to provide continuous, unabstracted gameplay using neural networks.

In other words, I wanted a game where I literally put a real life mosquito in the game,
to make it act as the ghost for us 60 frames per second. And boom, here it is!

0.4.05 : Workshop Support & About Future Updates

Hi there! Long time no see, how are things going these days? I watched many streamers and players play my game, and was trying my best to wrap my head around some game design issues I noticed. About Future Updates {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44739123/e9b711edfb8efdc649f5cf2cc97d1c4af0dafd6a.png Long story short, this was the first time in my life that I saw a game which can have five streamers play it and end up with five different opinions about the game. There are lots of reasons behind this, but what's important here is that I decided to overhaul the game's structure and level design from the bottom instead of improving the game step by step until the full release. So, instead of few weeks of update interval that I previously mentioned somewhere, next update may take months and not weeks. I'm currently integrating procedural level generation to the game with some roguelike gamemodes, but it will take time. You can expect the result to be a fusion between the current state of the game and the game Shadow Corridor. Workshop Support {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44739123/0f90e3f114d1a412b14e76b639a4bb10e11dc516.png It took quite longer than initially expected, but it's finally here! Yay! Downloading is easy, just subscribe on items on the steam workshop (the green plus sign), let the steam client do its job installing them, then go to the main menu and select the ghost that you want. Simple! Here's the link to the guide for the uploading part, in case you have something in mind :) Well then, see you again later. Have fun!

Hi there! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44739123/95ef979bb7adff7dac8e2e11dc3e018169ffef48.png Since many Korean streamers seemed to love playing the game, Korean language was added to the game as the first foreign language supported. If you'd like other languages added too, Let me know :)

0.4.03 : Difficulty Adjustments & New Level Variants

Hi there! This is the first official update for the game, (excluding some minor hotfixes secretly done in between) and this will include an introduction of a new difficulty setting and addition of level variants. Difficulty Adjustments {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44739123/5f6d023f3993245437b6bca139e913943dbbbbce.png Few days ago, I received multiple great, thoughtful reviews regarding the replayability of the game and the depth of game mechanics. The problem was that the easiest difficulty had little to none replayability, and was too expectable. Uh... And I did not see the problem with it until I read them until the end. I realized that quite a large portion of players won't bother to increase the difficulty settings at all, if the easiest difficulty turns out not to be fun. It's maybe because usual horror game mechanics does not respond to small difficulty tweaks that much, but you know, this is the unusual one. I designed the game to be fully enjoyed on either Hard or the GIGACHAD difficulty, but there was no meaning to it if the players end up never trying it out. So I decided to make the easiest one (which is newly called as "Kids" difficulty) just slightly easier than the original Hard difficulty, and came up with two new difficulty settings from that one. But it should still be OK, since there are lots of herbal remedies lying around in the easiest difficulty settings :D Oh, and check out Four 9, the Shadow Corridor speedrunner's live gameplay stream if you are struggling on the final achievement :) New Level Variants {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44739123/3376d960d8292db7da2c1be0d7f45a6f6079aefb.png Actually, there were three levels in the game from the start. There were two more level variants that was designed based on the original one, but it was something that was hidden and only could be accessed by literally clicking at the teddy bear at the main menu. But since only 2% of all players seemed to find it out, I decided to make it more explicit, randomly switching levels on ...

    Hi there!

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44739123/edada748088e0a13883d029589756fbba74ce66a.png Hi there! I'm the developer of this... Technically experimental & strange horror game, Kim. I'm doing some final test runs with my friend for all platforms and gamepad controls, making sure that the game works flawlessly on all devices. If it does not, you can contact me through discord anytime. The game will go live in less than 12 hours, and your waiting will soon be over. About Steam Deck support The game is running pretty well even on Steam Deck with full gamepad controls supported, but it seems like that the AI-related operations are taking much more time to process in Steam Deck's Linux environment than the native Windows environment. In other words, the game may run a bit slower from time to time when played from Steam Deck, but the overall framerate should be okay. Just keep this part in mind before / after buying the game if you are planning to play the game with it! Last but not least... The project was posted live for less than a month, but so many people have already shown positive engagements on reddit. I'm really happy and thankful about it. And a bit scared too, of course. The game works technically different, and the game's design was specifically structured to match the AI's special characteristics. But neverthless, this does not assure that all people will feel the game to be different and find the game mechanics to be deep and fun. Again, in those cases, you can contact me through discord anytime to express your ideas and suggestions to improve the game. That's why early access is an early access :) Well then, good luck, whoever you are.
