About this game
In the puzzle game Puffer Pop, you leverage your environment to dodge sharks, eat crabs, and rearrange bubbles. To survive the sharks, you'll need to puff up and show your spikes. However, there is a catch—you need air bubbles to do that... and a bubble only inflates a single side...
To reach the bubbles, you'll have to buy time by forcing enemies to run into and around each other. To take our your predators, you'll have to lure them into your spike-y sides. Sometimes, you may even need to rearrange the level to your advantage.

Puffer Pop on Mac, Steam Achievements, and Controller Support
Puffer Pop 4.0 & macOS SupportI'm excited to say that, 3 years after its release, Puffer Pop has finally arrived on macOS. This has by far been the most requested feature of Mountain Peke Games (MPG), so I am happy it is finally out. Thank you to everyone who has supported Puffer Pop these three years, and an even bigger thank you to all the kind people who only have a Mac but bought Puffer Pop to support MPG. This update would not exist if not for y'all. There's a funny history to Puffer Pop and Mac, but, before that, I want to talk about what is new in version 4.0.New Features for All UsersIt would not be fair to everyone who supported Puffer Pop on Windows if version 4.0 was just about the new Mac players. So, version 4.0 includes several quality of life changes:Controller SupportController support has been back-ported from Sumo Tanks, so you can now play Puffer Pop using your controller of choice. Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch controllers are all supported. Controller support is implemented using Steam Input, so you can set up even unsupported controllers (looking at you, Steam Deck)!Additionally, all menus are now navigable with the keyboard, so all of Puffer Pop can now be played with just a keyboard.AchievementsSteam Achievements have also been back-ported from Sumo Tanks and implemented in Puffer Pop. Even better than that: most of the achievements can be read from your existing saved data and will be awarded the next time you launch the game! Specifically, the high score and level progress achievements will be awarded based on your existing saved data. However, the data for "Crab Eater", "Shark Repellent", and "Well-Armed Pufferfish" was not stored in the old saved data, so you'll need to eat more bubbles and pop more enemies to unlock those.Level PreviewAfter you beat Puffer Pop, it used to be really hard to find a specific level in the full level list. It was even hard for me, the developer. So, a new level preview is now show when you hover over a level. ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Mountain Peke Games)Patch NotesOfficial

Puffer Pop Version 3.0 Update
It's hard to believe it has been 2 years since Puffer Pop launched. Thank you to everyone who has supported the game throughout that time. This update is a big change for Puffer Pop, but not in the way you would expect. This is a sort of "exciting for the developer, boring for the player" sort of update. However, it does open the door for more updates in the future. But, before that, let's talk about the boring stuff...ChangesExciting for the DeveloperPuffer Pop has been fully ported from Godot 3 to Godot 4. It is a large change under-the-hood, but you won't see much of a difference. However, the goal was to port the game to Godot 4 without noticeable changes, so that is a good thing. To be specific, Puffer Pop has ported to the same version of Godot as its sister game, Sumo Tanks. In the future, that will some features to be shared between the two games. More on that after we're done reviewing the changes.(Kind of) Interesting for the PlayerThe follow changes have been made to Puffer Pop:There is a new, much prettier launch screenEndless mode now saves after each turn instead of only when you exit to the main menuThe game now displays better on lower resolutionsThere are now credits and, more importantly, an exit button on the main menuThe future of Puffer PopAs mentioned above, Puffer Pop and its sister game, Sumo Tanks, now run on the same version of Godot. This opens the door to sharing features between both games. A lot of work was done for Sumo Tank's Steam integration, and that now can be easily back-ported to Puffer Pop. For Puffer Pop, that most likely will mean Steam achievements and Steam Input support. It also opens the door to supporting macOS in the future. That future is unclear and may change, but that is what I will be looking at next. Stay tuned!Read full article on Community Announcements (Mountain Peke Games)Patch NotesOfficial
Puffer Pop Version 2.0 Update
The "2.0 Update" for Puffer Pop includes new levels and bug fixes. Here are the details... 22 New Levels 22 new levels have been added to Puffer Pop, bringing the total number of levels to 50, almost double! These new levels are mostly intended for intermediate-to-experienced players. Still, there are a few new beginner levels designed to elaborate on the basic game mechanics. New levels are purple on the level select screen so current players can differentiate them from the levels they already completed. You can see the difficulty distribution of the new levels below: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44079657/7ceb24f75f5a6f9ead4a2fe3b0aa957672bb17b0.png How will this affect current progress? Your current "level complete" total is carried over. If you have completed all 28 original levels, your level select screen will look like this after updating, with the new levels in purple: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44079657/657fa974864e0fa01ca3325c2dc9dddeb3d7fc95.png To keep the difficulty curve for new players, some existing levels have been moved later. This means you will have to replay some levels to progress, such as what is now level 30. To play the "earlier" new levels, you can select them from the level select screen. Why wasn't this in the original release? Puffer Pop was originally designed with only a score attack mode (know as "Endless Mode"). The levels were added towards the end of development as a way to naturally teach players the concepts they needed to succeed in Endless Mode. The 28 original levels were what was felt could be squeezed out of the game without repeating content. After reworking some level ideas previously left on the cutting floor, expanding on some game fundamentals (such as bubble placement), and discovering a few new interactions between game mechanics, it was found that there was still room for fresh level ideas. Will there be more levels in the future? There are no plans to add more levels at this time. It is not impossible, but if 28 levels felt like it fu...Read full article on Community Announcements (Mountain Peke Games)
