Embark on a simple yet addictive journey where every tap counts as you break through levels filled with enemies and power-ups. Experience BreakoutQuest, an innovative twist on the classic game, developed by Jimbo's Homecooked Games LLC in 2026.

About this game

BreakoutQuest is an old classic with twists! Instead of controlling a paddle to hit the ball, you simply tap or click the screen. Additional elements include enemies who will attempt to 'injure' you by shrinking the available space you have before the ball is dropped, powerups to collect, and a story taking you through a number of different levels.

The Story

You were a baron until you were usurped by the Dark Lord. You awake in a field with only your magic Attack Squash and a new friend who vows to aid you on your quest to take back your seat! You meet more allies on the way and fight through enemies trying to stop you. All while breaking bricks!

Casual Fun

BreakoutQuest is designed as the kind of game that you can play when waiting for friends to join your lobby or a Guild to get together for a raid (or during Zoom meetings that should have been an email). A great time killer, but not as easy as it looks!

    Happy Pegs and Pins Fest!

Happy Pegs and Pins Fest! I am very excited to be part of a themed sale. Apologies that there is currently no discount - this sale was too soon after release to enter one. The release of this game wasn't actually planned to be in line with the theme, it was honestly just a happy coincidence that Pegs and Pins was coming around the corner after I was ready. (Granted, had I been ready earlier, I could have given you a discount, but it's already under a dollar so what are you waiting for??) In addition to being a brick breaker game, BreakoutQuest actually owes a little to the genre of pachinko games in general. Although the game's core inspiration predates the popularity of them, the refinement of the mechanics definitely drew from similar games.Update Notes:Fix for the character power not working in some levels: Strangely, this appears to have occurred during some refactoring that level the power button unusable in levels 1, 10, and 26. While I still don't have a root cause for why those specific levels, this has been fixed. Looking back on things, I don't know why I architected the levels the way I did. Fortunately, the sequel redesigns this from the ground up. Remoed developer debug menu: There was a semi-hidden button that allowed you to reset your achievements. I hope you made use of it while you could, as I have now hidden it completely.

    Release Day!!!

Friends!!I'm very pleased to announce the release of BreakoutQuest, for the low, low cost of $0.99USD. It has been a long road to get here, but if you're reading this, I'm really glad you're joining me! And I hope you will (or have!) support my journey. This is not the absolute end! The roadmap, such as it is, still has plans for an art and sound update. There will be some fresh artwork and sounds, and an update to how the sounds are played so that you should be able to get a richer experience. Here I want to re-iterate that I am not planning on content updates. While I'll continue to support with bug fixes and some QoL, I am hoping that the price point will encourage you to enjoy this game as-is. But fear not - if you enjoy it and want more, well, I may have something else in the works soon!

    Release is Imminent!

Hello friends!I am pleased to announce that BreakoutQuest is in its release-state level of polish. This isn't to say that there won't be further QoL updates. Post-release I am hoping to update more of the art and sound... hopefully my artists will have the availability. Other than QoL, the art/sound updates, and of course any bugfixes that may be needed, I am not envisioning any major content updates. The main reason for it is the outdated version of the engine it is built on - Godot 2.1.6. I could not replicate some of the core powerup mechanics easily when I tried to port it, so I decided I'd stick with this one. I do hope you will all enjoy the game for what it is rather than expect it to be continuously updated, especially for the planned price point of 0.99 USD.That's right, this is going to be a 99 cent game. It should provide 3-5 hours of gameplay for that, plus more if you want to play Arcade or Endless mode as much as you want. I envision it as something to amuse yourself with while waiting for other things to happen. In the future, post release, I am hoping to start on a sequel. That gane will be mostly re-built and in the latest version of the Godot engine, so I do plan on continuing to update the sequel. It will also have even more replayability, but I don't want to give away too much just yet! Due to how early things are in the planning stages for that one (other than that I have started to work on the rebuild in the engine), I won't say too much more here. Finally, you may be wondering when BreaktoutQuest is planned for release. Right now, that is July 31st! 10 days from this post. The time of the day will probably be early evening Pacific Time. I do hope you will check it out and consider impulsively purchasing it. Regardless, thank you for reading and following along with my journey!
