Embark on a perilous journey as a fugitive in Ecumene Aztec, an intense action-adventure game where every move counts. Climb, fight, and survive in the dark world of ancient Aztecs, choosing sides in a deadly conflict.

About this game

Prepare for war. Survive. Fight. Take revenge.

The year is 1521. The Spanish conquistadors led by Hernán Cortés are burning Tenochtitlan, but they are not the only threat. In the shadows of the conflict, betrayal, deception and a struggle for power unfold. As the survivor of a ritual sacrifice, you must decide whether to side with the Aztecs in defence of their traditions, or join those who seek to destroy the ancient empire.

Ecumene Aztec is a brutal stealth game set during the Spanish conquest. Take on the role of a young Aztec who must escape his fate as the victim of a ritual blood sacrifice to face both the European invaders and the native priests who uphold the cruel traditions. Cross dangerous jungles, ancient temples and the war-torn city of Tenochtitlan...

  • Brutal combat and bloody executions - Fight with traditional Aztec weapons such as the macuahuitl and atl-atl. Dodge, parry and sneak to defeat both steel-armed conquistadors and tribes of indigenous warriors.

  • Stealth and bloody elimination - Become a shadow in the jungle, using traps, ranged weapons and poisoned blowpipes to eliminate unsuspecting enemies.

  • Authentic Aztec World - Explore the city of Tenochtitlan, full of majestic pyramids, colourful markets and hidden temples. Immerse yourself in a unique culture, rendered with historical attention to detail.

Moral choice: Who will you fight against? Join the resistance to defend your people from the conquistadors, or side with the Spanish-allied tribes to destroy the priest caste. Your choice will determine the course of history.

Development Update - Nordic Game, Demo Changes, and What Comes Next

We’ve just arrived in Malmö for Nordic Game, and at the same time, the Ecumene Aztec demo is once again available on Steam for a limited time. In this demo version, we’ve already improved several elements, including stealth mechanics, textures, and we also replaced the main character model with one that feels much more distinctive, both visually and narratively.Building the Game Together With the CommunityOver the last months we’ve been traveling with the game to events like Digital Dragons and Pax East because we genuinely want to talk with players, hear criticism, collect ideas, and understand what works and what still needs improvement. From the very beginning, our goal was never to create this game behind closed doors. We want Ecumene Aztec to grow together with the community. The feedback has already changed the game quite a lot - some gameplay systems evolved significantly compared to our earliest concepts. We’re currently focusing heavily on improving stealth, combat flow, traversal, animations, enemy behavior, and the overall feel of exploration. It’s also worth mentioning that the current demo still does not include all the gameplay improvements and changes that came directly from recent player feedback. Over the last months, a large part of our focus shifted toward building new levels and expanding the later parts of the game, so some of the bigger mechanical updates are still in development and not fully visible in the public build yet.Historical Authenticity Still MattersAt the same time, one thing has not changed at all: historical authenticity remains extremely important to us.We know this period of history deserves serious treatment, and we continue to expand the historical background, environmental storytelling, cultural details, architecture, and atmosphere surrounding the game. We want the world to feel brutal, alive, believable, and grounded in real history while still remaining an engaging action-adventure experience. There Is Still Work AheadWe als...

We’re Heading to PAX East 2026 in Boston!

Hello, Warriors! We have another important update for you: Ecumene Aztec is heading to PAX East 2026 in Boston! The event will take place from March 26-29, 2026, and it is one of the most important gaming events in the United States. You’ll find us at booth 15078, where we’ll be happy to talk about the game and share more about its future. This is a very important step for us. Last year, we had the chance to present the project at many industry events - from DevGAMM, Tokyo Game Show, and gamescom, to GDC and Reboot Develop Blue in Dubrovnik. Every one of those events gave us something incredibly valuable: conversations, reactions, and feedback that helped us better understand how to continue developing Ecumene Aztec. Now, that experience is joined by something just as important - your feedback from the playtests. Recently, we received a huge number of comments, opinions, and observations from you. It truly feels like we are entering the next stage of this journey: before, we learned through conversations at trade shows and events, and now we are also receiving an equally valuable perspective directly from players. That is hugely motivating for us.DEMO!We see this trip to Boston not only as an opportunity to showcase the game - of course, we’re bringing a DEMO, which you will also be able to play on Steam - but also as another important test. We want to observe players’ reactions, talk with people from across the industry, and continue learning which elements of Ecumene Aztec work best and which still need improvement. We are ready to reveal new ideas and share the direction in which the game is evolving. This is especially important now, as we are still working on implementing the lessons learned from the recent tests. As we mentioned before, we are currently focused on further developing the mechanics that will give the game its own unique identity. That includes the blood mechanic, which we will talk more about once the post-show dust settles. This won’t be our last eve...

Your feedback helps us - we're starting this journey together!

Hello, Warriors!Over the last few days, we’ve been analyzing your feedback and our first takeaways from the gameplay. We’ve wrapped up the first round of Ecumene Aztec playtests, and there’s one thing we want to say: thank you!Every survey, comment, and recording was genuinely valuable to us. This was the first time we were able to show you a piece of the game we’ve been working on, which makes your reactions all the more meaningful.Your feedback on this very early version clearly shows us what is already working and what still needs a lot of attention. This is only the beginning of our journey together - more tests, demos, and conversations are ahead, because we want to keep building the world of Ecumene Aztec with your involvement.Next stop: PAX East and the first improvementsA very intense period is ahead of us - we’re preparing for PAX East, and we’ll be sharing more about that with you very soon! We know your list of suggestions is long, and because of time constraints, we won’t be able to implement everything right away. But we want you to know that the first changes are already making their way into the game. Here’s what we’re improving first to make your adventure more comfortable:Readability and narrative: subtitles will stay on screen longer and appear against a clearer background, so you won’t miss any part of the story.More intuitive controls: we’re improving controller support.Better clarity: we’re drastically reducing the motion blur effect that so many of you pointed out.New feature: Blood is powerAt the same time, we’re developing mechanics that are meant to give Ecumene Aztec its unique identity. One of them is the Blood Power System (though we may still rename it) - a key gameplay element we are currently working on intensively.Blood will be your most valuable resource and the source of superhuman abilities. Every decision - whether to use your power right away or save blood for later - can change how an encounter unfolds. We want this system to aff...
