Dive into Engine Simulator by Ektorom Software Inc., where you can design and simulate powerful combustion engines. Explore the intricacies of engineering in this immersive simulation game.

About this game

Engine Simulator is an internal combustion engine simulation. The prototype was first shown on YouTube in 2022. Engine Simulator allows you to build completely custom internal combustion engines and listen to your creations using its physically-based audio generator.

Engine Simulator is currently under development.

Advanced, Engineering-Grade Simulation

Engine Simulator uses an advanced fluid simulation based on those used in industry engine simulations. It is not simply some cool visuals, it is a real simulation.

Real-time Audio

Engine Simulator features a comprehensive audio engine, capable of simulating spatial effects, jet noise and of course, exhaust sound. Not only can you design and test your own engines, you can actually hear them in real-time and interact with them like you can with a normal engine.

Engine Designer

Engine Simulator will feature a 3D, graphical editor to lay out components and tubing. Arrange cylinders, exhaust components, collectors, mufflers and other engine parts however you like to achieve the performance and sound you desire. Engine modifications can also be made in real-time, just like you could do with a real engine.

Audio Exporter

Engine Simulator allows you to render high quality audio loops for use in games with traditional engine audio systems.

IMPORTANT: Engine Simulator is an extremely detailed simulation and will require a modern, fast CPU to run correctly.

    Engine Simulator User Interface Update

Hello engine designers! A new Engine Simulator update video is here. I'm making really good progress on the user interface and simulation layers.Video UpdateIf you'd like more detailed updates or more information about the project timeline, I post regularly on the Engine Simulator Discord server. - Ange

    Welcome to Engine Simulator!

Hello everyone! This is Engine Simulator, a program that does exactly what the name says: simulate engines, estimate performance and generate real-time engine audio. It's not simply a name either, it is a true simulation that uses many of the same techniques that are used in the automotive industry. It's perhaps best known for its ability to generate sound. Unlike most racing games which require recorded audio samples from real engines, all of the sound in Engine Simulator comes directly from the physics! There is no trickery and no fakery, just pure simulation. While some simplifications are needed for real-time performance the goal is to avoid "hacks" or fakery of any kind to make this simulation as realistic and pure as possible. In this announcement, I'll try to answer some of the frequently asked questions about this project. I welcome all of you on this journey! How can I get development updates?I will be posting updates here on Steam, however, this project mostly lives on YouTube and Discord. I document major game updates on my YouTube channel "AngeTheGreat" and all devlogs (development logs) are published in this video playlist. My most recent video covers some of the major improvements I've made to the simulation:What exactly is this? Is it a game or a simulation? It's more accurate to call Engine Simulator a simulation rather than a game. It is a rigid body mechanical simulation combined with a one-dimensional fluid simulation (which is standard for engine simulations in the automotive industry). It is a pure sandbox with no traditional gameplay elements, though this may change in the future. It is a "real" simulation. I define a simulation as a computer model of a real-world process that has predictive capability. It is not guesswork or a giant lookup table of real-world engine data, but instead a physically-based model that real engineers would use. What can it do?You can design your own engine configurations, run them in real-time and also interact with them...
