Control a squad of stretchy slimes in Slime Squadron: Harpy Raiders for an outlandish RPG adventure. Glide through levels, causing chaos on your quest for revenge against the harpies.

About this game

Slide and stretch your slime squadrons to victory in daring raids against the Harpy Empire.

For too long, slimekind has been seen as a pushover by its myriad of multi-limbed foes. Now, the perfidious harpy race seeks to humiliate us in front of the entire world. Would we stand idly by and see these squawkers smugly triumph?

  • An RPG-Platformer which combines the 4 member party format with fast paced side-scroller action.

  • Elaborate storytelling but without the walls of text! (Mostly!)

  • You are the grappling hook.

Our enemies are as plenty as they are tough. But where they see us as puny, every slime knows that our strength is in numbers. Build your squad and sacrifice their lives as necessary - its what they were conscripted signed up for!

  • Slimes do not wear armor. But you can mutate them to become their own armor, or maybe they'll just explode. It's a real bargain!

  • Raid the secondary floating islands to gain ever stronger weapons and loot!

Take the fight to the countless sky islands - some widely-known and well-mapped as strongholds of the Empire, while countless others are as ephemeral as the wind and seemingly as random.

  • Slime Army High Command has identified roughly 10 major missions that requires your attention, and there is little time to waste.

  • Fight insane bosses, and lay waste to the enemies of slimekind with the might of the modern military!

  • Choices matter. Balance the slime masses' clamoring for vengeance against the ever-watching judgment of the hardly sympathetic international media.

  • But also, harpies are by nature dumb, arrogant and evil.

  • Good soldiers do not question.

Progress Report & Demo News - October 2025

Hey everyone, Linx here! Things have been progressing well, and on top of Gamescom Asia 2025 being on the 17th of this very month (Which if you live in or are flying down to Bangkok, Thailand, you should totally check it out - we are at booth 46!!!) Without further ado, let's review the changes for the game up until and in the month of October, 2025.Harpy 'Culture' Exposed!Fig 1.0: An illustration of multiple harpy sub-species. Did you know? Not all harpies are made the same. Our expert sociologists have studied the structure of harpy society, and have noticed vast differences in wealth, status and even employment rate between the several harpy sub-species. For example, Pigeon Harpies tend to do minimum-wage manual labor as couriers and delivery birds. Despite making up a significant amount of the population, there exists strict laws governing against what is viewed as sympathy to these people. You might be wondering. Why don't the pigeon harpies tear these signs down? This is because they 1) are stupid and 2) have been told that their real enemy are the crows, another maligned harpy sub-species. But us slimes, we are not so primitive and uncultured. The Slime Army believes that our strength is in our equity and diversity!Slime Army DIE PolicyDIE stands for: Diversity, Inclusion and Equity. For slimes, this means that regardless of what mutations you may have, you will be welcome - so long as you may fight well and true. Contrary to popular belief, Slime Army DIE policy is the same towards harpies! Regardless of creed, sub-species or political beliefs, all harpies must and will DIE before the might of the Slime Army! I hate them!! I hate them so much!! And now, how exactly does the Slime Army encourage diversity? Well, we take our soldiers and inject them with as many chemicals as possible! Regrettably, some may explode, but others mutate in significantly more positive ways instead. Fig 1.1: A successful mutation. The amorphous slime therefore is granted more defini...

    An Update - June 2025

I'm excited to share about the progress of Slime Squadron: Harpy Raiders, having been almost exactly two years since the last update post here! To say that we've come a long way is to make a gross understatement. Let's review everything! A New NamePreviously, Slime Squadron: Harpy Raiders was known just as Harpy Raiders.Throughout the years, as I have pitched the game to many, one question stood out: Why Harpy Raiders, if you play as a slime? And I would always answer about how the primary enemy in the games are harpies and you're out there trying to raid them. Of course, the answer never really stuck for me on a personal basis, so amongst other things and after some advice, I've decided to rename the game to: This way, there can absolutely be no ambiguity as to who you are, while also tying it back to the old title so that our good friend the search engine can do its pinky-mandated duty.An Entirely Reworked GameThere is power in a name when it comes to spreading awareness, but such awareness is fruitless without a 'good game' behind it. After taking a long, hard look at the old game, I decided that it was not enough of a 'good game.' Therefore, I took the painful choice of reworking vast portions of it, making the game into what it is today. I believe the results speak for themselves! On top of new graphics, animations and all-round juice, we have changed up the gameplay loop in a new way. After all, the game is called Slime Squadron, so it would be amiss to not let you also be able to control an entire squad of slimes at the same time!Brand-New CustomisationPreviously, customisation and progression was done via the choice of weapons, as well as levelling up your (one and only) player-controlled slime. Now, we've decided to lean into the slimy aspects of the game and replaced RPG-style stat levelling with a new mutation system. Of course, owing to our roots, there will still be a wide range of weaponry. But the mutation system, a combination between a rogue-like pr...

Life and Death in the Slime Army

As detailed in the previous post, the Slime Army is a vast machine consisting of billions of slimes, conscripted from birth to serve when duty calls. Each slime serves in their own way, either raising the faction's GDP through trade, labor and innovation, or more commonly, as soldiers on the front lines, wherever that is. Today, I want to cover the death of the slime. Slimes do not die of old age, although they are undoubtebly fragile creatures. Though individually capable of great feats, a vast majority never rise to enough prominence to warrant such extravagant things like healthcare and a proper diet. The common slime is expendable, and all good commanders know that. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43979350/076a2e4a08cee2e542b7d29d0d2db6ee4b4231fa.png This fact of life is reflected in the game as well. Though far from a roguelike, Harpy Raiders features a 'permanent death' system in which the slime you control when killed is gone forever. In their stead, you will be asked to select their replacement. This is further bolstered by the fact that you can recruit multiple types of slimes. You'll initially have 6 slots for unique slimes before they are exhausted and you have to either abort the mission or push ahead with regular, traitless slimes. Perhaps, as you advance in the game, you'll get more slime slots (and deaths to go along with it!) As far as we have planned, only one slime type will be an unlock from the main quest: Ice Slimes! All others will have handcrafted side quests on their respective islands that you will have to complete in order to recruit them. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43979350/6a3fa491aba3bdebe8d01554a7547c8f2fdb8af1.png As for the actual penalties on death however, things have still not been decided. Our team has pondered a Souls-style death system where you would lose all your currency unless you reach the point of death without dying again. However, I do believe that over the past decade, this has become too cliche. Another method we have thought of is a flat ...

    The Art of (Slime) War

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43979350/d2843926060dabdef3957c484b8e55947d94520f.gif A Slime soldier is loyal, loyal unto death. Hello again, it's me, Linx145! Apologies for the lack of update last week, as the team and I have been hard at work getting the demo ready. Today, I wanted to go through the principles of combat... as a Slime. Not many know this, but Slimes are completely capable of using weaponry like swords, guns and more! To reflect the Slimes' innate adaptability, you will be able to use a wide variety of weapons in Harpy Raiders, from swords, spears and hammers to twinblades and rifles. To spice up things in Harpy Raiders, I wanted to focus combat around several pillars. The first is multi-directionality - with many action platformers, you may strike in four cardinal directions, or sometimes maybe eight. But for Harpy Raiders, I wanted a full 360 degree freedom of attack. This would be in line with the game's many flying enemies, which may attack you from strange angles not limited to the primary four. It's only fair that you may point, click and do the same to them as they do to you. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43979350/3d08deee7b311d186ee858e762fa00fe4592395b.gif Another pillar I wanted to focus on to spice thing up so as to be 'not like other action platformers!!' was movement based combat. As seen in the gif above, when you are moving sufficiently fast, a shadow trail will appear behind you. This is an indication to perform charged attacks, which manifest in a more powerful slash or slam, depending on the weapon. They can be a powerful opening move to debilitate enemies before the fight itself, and ideally would force the player to be aware of objects in the environment they can use to grapple onto in order to get that much needed burst of speed. However, I did enter significant problems with this implementation, in which it goes against what players are trained to do by other games. Normally, when you see an enemy, you would slow down and weigh your options before en...
