About this game

Threat Actor is a cybercrime-themed RTS game featuring a series of campaign maps with increasingly complex mechanics and objectives.

THE DARK HUB

As a fresh member of an infamous cybercrime organization called The Dark Hub, your life depends on whether you can prove your worth to the faction's leaders by successfully completing your assignments.

As you slowly climb the leadership ladder, it is only a matter of time before some of the senior staff members start to see you as a threat.

THE DARK WEB

Your criminal enterprise resides on the Dark Web, a 3D topdown map filled with various resources, factions and hostile malware entities.

Occupied by all kinds of people - from simple scammers to hackers, creeps and dangerous members of the occult, you will encounter a variety of quests and other interactions designed around given campaign map's theme.

THE CRIME ECONOMY

Participate in the dark web economy by building out your marketplace. Create workers to gather resources and manage your organization's income, population and amenity level. Produce units to defend your base or attack hostile organizations. Hire moderators to work at the marketplace's facilities and leverage your faction's economy to accomplish the map's objective.

    [2024-05-24] Game Update

New patch went live. Here are the changes: - 16 new buildings, most of them simply convert one resource to another with the help of moderators, eventually increasing your faction's income. - Technology Tree which upgrades those buildings, improving their efficiency, number of moderators and so on. - One new tutorial quest introducing the player to the Technology Tree. - Four new regular quests that reward the player with Netcoins and Faction EXP. These are given by the following buildings: -> Botmaster Hub -> Hosting Hub -> Denial Center -> Combo Checker The buildings convert Proxy/Hash/Combo resources into other stuff but having those resources isn't required for them to give the player quests. After a quest is spawned, an exclamation will appear above it until the player takes the quest or it expires. - There are now three tiers of malware entities: normal, advanced and supreme, each with better stats. - They can be recruited by the player and also spawn during a raid. - Keeping malware entities now costs the player upkeep; depending on the tier, from 2 Netcoins to 6 Netcoins every 15 seconds. - In a similar fashion, recruiting moderators now costs 1 Netcoins / 15s in upkeep. - There are now three tiers of towers, each with better stats. - Similarly, there also three tiers of defensive Walls, which can be used to wall off player's base for more protection. - There are new Farming buildings; the player can place a Proxy Farm which will transform 5x5 surrounding area into Proxy Resources, same goes for other resources.

    [2024-04-07] Game Update

New update went live, adding early versions of a moderator mechanic and a system to transfer resources between buildings. The player will need to place a Chatroom which yields Population and then direct the population to an Entry Point where the player can assign a moderator that will "verify" the population by completing the applicants minigame and yield some Money and Verified Accounts (which have no use yet). The same goes for the buildings that gather proxies/combolists etc., these will need to route their output to a Trade Point. The applicant minigame was reworked because it was a bit mundane/boring. Instead the minigame now focuses on applying different categories to given applicant based on the dialogue. You can do the minigame either yourself or assign a moderator to it. The new mechanics are in alpha version and there's still lots to do, e.g. for now you don't need to pay your moderators and there aren't many buildings yet. There is also no tutorial yet so the game might be confusing.

    [2024-02-01] Game patchnotes

New Threat Actor update just went live. Here are the highlights: - A completely new 3D map. - Ability to place buildings on the 3D map. - Ability to create and move around your faction's malware entities around the map. - The "Boss" sequence was completely removed and now you're the boss of your own marketplace. - The Boss was replaced with a short tutorial dialogue at the start. - Every 5 minutes, there's a raid of hostile entities on your base that you have to defend from (this will be expanded to hostile faction later on) - Since there are no sleeping sequences anymore, the applicants minigame was adjusted to switch rules every x minutes, also only pick three random rules at a time. - The applicants minigame now gives you money that you can use to purchase buildings on the 3d map. - You are able to command your entities. Currently there are 4 command options: "MoveTo" which makes the entity go to a location. "Guard" which makes it wander around a point. "Wander" to just wander around and "Stand" to do nothing and stand in one place. - The 3d map features a "Fog of War", so you're only able to see things that are close to friendly buildings/entities. The Fog of War is marked with the "stars" vfx.

New patch for the demo went live. Changes: The player can now click the market / player base with the mouse to set it in focus for connection. The dark web UI was revamped, the three big buttons were changed to a list of known hosts in the upper left corner.
