About this game

Run, don’t walk like an Egyptian to your nearest Steam store and check out It Belongs in a Museum!

put on your virtual reality headset and join a secret organization that has been around for thousands of years, in a story that wouldn't sell out a block buster movie, but is JUST good enough for VR! Your task is simple: take your ample goddess companion into battle across five stages listening to her recall the story while destroying monsters with an array of weapons. Look for sparkly treasure strewn across large, small, and procedural dungeons to satisfy your need to buy much needed guns. Marvel at the lack of consistency in story telling as the plot unfolds leaving you with more questions than answers!

And when all of that is finished, you can extend your gameplay experience by repeating the stages in a similar fashion to a hamster in a wheel for the sole purpose of buying virtual versions of REAL artifacts from the skeleton dealer to fill up your museum… to scratch that “I need to collect something….” Itch!

So, act now! Copies are limited…. Wait… digital games aren’t limited, are they? OK screw it I’m too old for this.

Features:

- Multiple weapons: pistols, SMGs, assault rifles, shotguns, grenades, bow and sniper!

- Enough Unity store assets flipped you’ll think it’s a gymnastics tournament!

- Foul mouthed NPCs that keep it PG-13!

- A “story” written in the span of weeks when time allowed, loosely based on Akkadian/ Mesopotamian mythology with a large order of plot holes and logical fallacies!

- Smooth motion with no teleporting!

- snap and smooth turning!

- Full body IK now with glitchy arms and hands!

  • Slow time just to make shooting look cool! now cool shooting in slow Mo does more damage! Be careful though, using the slow time power can cost you health!

- Companion fully voiced by a REAL actress and other NPCs voiced by REAL AI!

- Inconsistent pacing and level design because sometimes I just thought: “Not realistic, but it looks cool!” (UPDATE: ALL NEW BETTER LOOKING FLASHY LEVELS! just as inconsistent but with traps!)

- Various types of enemies from skeletons, zombies, and mummies… OH MY!

- Climbing on various surfaces such as walls, pyramids, and …..stairs!

(Achievements not yet included (probably never!). Side effects may include headache, fever, runny nose, nausea, lack of ambition, weight gain, indigestion, and priapism. Consult your doctor if you have two or more of these symptoms lasting longer than 4 hours.)

🎵 Music Credits

A big thank you to the Battle Tapes for allowing the use of their music.

In all seriousness, Thank you for reading to the end. I enjoyed putting this game together and I hope that you enjoy playing it. - CoffeeSerpent

A quick new update (kind of)

When I say "kind of", I mean it takes 18 hours to compile the game on my PC, this is because of all the shaders translated from UE5 assets I had put in. BUT, for the three of you still paying attention this is what changed: I made the enemies less bullet spongy. Someone in the forum commented that it took too much to kill even lowbie enemies and I agree, It sucks that I had not looked at the forum in such a long time but, there it is. I also attempted to fix up the tutorial area as well. I am lost for lots of time now, I am in my second year of the PhD and working on research, so ... its as good as it gets without some feedback. I also remembered someone once asked for a ghost character, so I started working on one finally, but it is not in there yet. For the time being I am quite happy with my new version and I hope you like it also. In a final say, I saw that there was a review that was extremely scathing about my game, fair enough. criticism is the only way to make things better. To be fair though to myself, I did not make this game specifically to make money. If i only had tried to slop something together to get paid, I would have pulled the game from the store immediately when it was not as successful as the reviewer expected it to be. The difference is this: I made this and will continue to update it for myself. The best things creatively are done by people who are inspired to make it for themselves, So that is it. Thanks for sticking around! and if your new thanks for giving it a try!

A brand new version I hope you enjoy! (sorry my screenshots are crap so far)

Greetings! it’s been a very long time since I have updated this game and for the few of you who might see this and have it installed still (I Hope!) I have made the game even better, at least I think I have! First, everything has changed level-wise. I was never happy with the initial assets I used to make the different ruins, and they are head and shoulders better than they used to be! Second, I have added a great deal to the game play. I added traps in the levels, some very easy puzzles, and maps on the weapons table that gives hints to how to finish an area, to name a few things. Guns and preparation are handled in an airplane before the level section now. You must jump from the plane to parachute to the ground and start the level. I am sorry though, I have yet to figure out a way to have guns pre-loaded when levels start, so you must quickly run and load them. Enemies are now spawned in around the player using “soul link” a procedural spawner that makes it both more challenging to shoot enemies and made it possible to have the better-looking levels as pre-spawned enemies dragged down performance. The music is by a great California group called “Battle Tapes” I heard them here in Japan through a friend and surprisingly if I credit them and I’m making no money on the game, I can use their awesome tracks! You can hear the music when you use the slow time power, which costs you a bit of health to start. During one of the songs, you can slow time, fire powerful magic bullets that will finish most enemies off in one shot, but it comes at a price: killing an enemy this way takes a small amount of your health (1%) away each time, so it’s meant as something fun but that you should watch how much you use it. All, or nearly all important or useable objects can be “force pulled” like other VR games though it can depend on how close you are to the objects. The wrist PC now shows the location of important objects at the edges of the radar; thus, it is easier to find the skull ...

    New years changes

Happy New Year! While I was off visiting family in law, I realized I had some more problems with the game so I fixed them this morning. 1. the hands would disappear because of some code that let you select different hands, I turned it off. 2. someone mentioned the game did not work with the VIVE headset because the camera is in the head. I made the head invisible. 3. I despised the recoil on some of the long guns so i lessened it. That is it, thank you!

    just a small change

Good Morning, As I have less and less time working on a PhD, I apologize to anyone that still plays this and wants faster results. I only made a small adjustment today. the player's hands looked small, or I noticed they were small finally and so I made them a bit bigger. I know they are not attached to the body and can come off, that is because I used trickery and laziness to make the IK body work. In the future when I have more time I will try to remake the player in a whole new way.

    11/12 small fixes

Just some small fixes: The textures on the player arms should not disappear now! I was watching a video someone made of the game, and realized the sound for the tutorial voice is too loud, so I turned it down slightly. It was always my intention to let sound be controlled by the player using the buttons on the headset.
