    Dev Blog #4!

JJ/Seir- Director & FounderHello Anomalies,A lot has happened over the past month. A separate team is now developing a much smaller project under the internal name Project Aperture, funded entirely independently of Primeval Horizon, with the goal of helping fund future projects for our studio including Primeval Horizon itself. More details on that are coming soon. Here at Remnant we deeply value the developers who bring our projects to life, and ensuring they are fairly compensated for their time and talent will always be a priority for us.We are also in talks about producing Short Films set within the world of Primeval Horizon. Alongside other avenues we are pursuing to bring the funding this game deserves, the Short Films give us something far more achievable in the near term while keeping the world of Primeval Horizon alive and growing for all of you.We cannot wait to share more soon!Ember Newcomer- General ArtistThis month I was tasked with giving the logo of Primeval Horizon a brand new design! The design took inspiration from the project’s fantastical sci-fi themes, colors, and creatures. My thought process behind the logo’s concept was to give a compliment to the title “Primeval Horizon” by including a landscape. In this landscape are a couple of Primeval Horizon’s characters; a Mapusaurus bellowing at the light that protrudes from the mouth of a giant entity. On the ground of the landscape is a formation of organic-like thorns rooting into the world like a corrupted overgrowth. All these things combine to emphasize scale, darkness, and mystery to summarize the identity of Primeval Horizon.Michal- Environment ArtistOver the past weeks, I've been translating Ember's vision of a Wovenwood into a game-ready asset. It was a great pleasure to do that from the artistic angle, as there was immediate resonance with the concept she conjured, full of intricacies and visual interest. However, because of the tree's complexity and its distinct look, it was a technical chal...

    Dev Blog #3!

JJ/Seir- Director & FounderHello Anomalies,We're back at it with Steam Dev Logs! or more accurately, Dev Blogs. This Dev Blog will be covering the past couple months of January & February, Enjoy! The past couple months have seen major changes to development behind the scenes as you will be able to read from Dima's section. We are pushing forward to our Vertical Slice/Tech Demo build for QA to test then for Donators to play with so that we can iterate quickly towards a build ready for Early Access. We are working hard to bring you all a quality, fair and FUN game. We're very excited to explore the future of this game together with the team and community staying in touch. I hope I won't lose my hair over the coming years haha I'm beginning to get back into art although challenging after such a long break from it. I've been working on different things to assist with the team such as the Map Layout I've shown in the past and that's now present on our roadmap, documentation (it never ends), management, and more. There's still a lot I want to do and contribute to better communicate the vision here which I'll be working on. I'd love to connect with other directors and share experiences! With that said, a new server icon is in the works by Ember that remains true to the game as our current one is outdated and was unable to updated due to unforeseen challenges. I can't wait for us to get back into working on new playable characters/species again with even greater quality than before.Ember Newcomer- General ArtistIt’s been a great experience working with the development team for the past 8 months. In that span of time, I was able to accomplish designing the first wave of merchandise, concept art for playables, points of interest, user interface elements, and even a little bit of the origins behind the Primeval Horizon universe. I have also worked on giving the Achillobator a brand new set of four carefully designed skins for the customization system. Feather alpha assets were ...

    Dev Log #1 Out!

JJ - Director & Founder Hello Anomalies, This past month has been a whirlwind of excitement, thanks to our rapid progress and your incredible support! We're thrilled to kick off our Steam Dev Logs with some exciting updates that you won't want to miss! First up, I’ve been diving into Substance Painter, and it’s already paying off. We’ve created a stunning Ceratosaurus skin, designed by Sowathun from our community skin contest that has been made Customizable using a new shader for our Ceratosaurus, and I am now putting the final touches on our Arcane Backer Skin for our generous donors. Thank you to everyone who has stood by us and supported us with your generous contributions! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44914570/816227a1c783dcafbaca79bb5ed63b1c67444f2d.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44914570/065bf7270e67ae13a33ae1eb15d8afa11025d95e.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44914570/027b4c52b2678dac7f23e6620b87aa26e5063e00.png Gorilla Workshop - Animator In my corner this is the month of the Achillobator! I have been working on giving Achillobator some locomotion animations, starting with ground locomotion. Currently the idle, trot, and sprint animations are complete, as well as the sprint variants (turn left and turn right). My favorite part so far has been working with the head feathers, making them bob and bounce as the head moves is adorable and quite satisfying. Achillobator will be able to climb, so look forward to seeing these nimble beasts both stalking the plains and the canopies! The climbing animations will be the next up on the production line. I look forward to sharing the climbing animations with you all next Devlog! Until then, we'll be hard at work making this game awesome. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44914570/01dc8767727f03e69acc5f279aa82e72cfdea461.gif M-Z - Sound Designer Again this month, I've been working a lot on the Achillobator, Lufengosaurus and Foley sounds in the game, such as: -Body Impacts -Footsteps -Attack effects And I'm still starting to work on the game's ambience and immersio...
