In Let's Build a Dungeon, you step into the role of a game studio manager tasked with creating an engaging MMORPG. Hire talented staff, craft a captivating fantasy world, and keep players hooked to avoid financial disaster.

About this game

Run a game studio your way and see how things develop in this multi-layered management sim from the creators of Let’s Build a Zoo.

Review the resumes of hundreds of hopeful applicants as you staff your dream studio in this true-to-life and ridiculous simulation of the games industry. Recruit and manage artists, programmers and planners to produce new assets and mechanics that bring your creations to life.

Manage development schedules, advertising campaigns and press relationships to grow your studio from a scrappy indie team into a development juggernaut. Will you risk financial ruin by delaying your game until it’s perfect, or push your staff to breaking point with crunch time and salary cuts? Will you bow to community requests, or stay true to your creative vision?

As a fledgling MMORPG developer, it’s your job to build a fantasy world that keeps virtual players hooked while balancing the books. Welcome them into your world and watch their adventures unfold!

Design an expansive adventure filled with quests, towns, monsters and dungeons, tailored to your virtual players’ demands. Jump in-game at any time to ban rogue users and see your world from a new perspective.

Can you wow your audience with an RPG classic, or will this game be your final fantasy?

Will you build a monster catching RPG? A cozy farming simulator? Or maybe a magic-fuelled action adventure? Whatever you build, build it your way with thousands of objects, environments, characters and enemies to choose from.

Place every tree, build every quest and decide on job classes for visiting virtual players as you watch them explore in real time. Increase drop rates if they are struggling, or boost enemy stats to keep them grinding for XP. The more time spent in your world, the happier your investors will be!

Hire testers and stomp out bugs in your game, or jump into your world at any time to experience your masterpiece through the eyes of a player.

  • Design and build your very own MMO world, fit to be filled by hordes of virtual players

  • Manage the day-to-day running of your game studio, from hiring and firing to keeping your investors happy

  • Attract new virtual players to your MMO masterpiece by expanding your world, designing new quests and monitoring player journeys

  • Progress through the campaign to develop new items, environments and mechanics that bring your ideas to life

  • Playtest your RPG at any time to see the world through the eyes of a player

  • Mix-and-match quest styles for endless replayability

  • Customise using thousands of items, or design your own

  • Negotiate tough conversations with shareholders, staff, players and publishers to make meaningful choices that will impact the direction of your studio.

Creative mode is an open sandbox and you are free to write your own story, create dialogue and cutscenes, draw characters and adjust gameplay mechanics. Browse the games made by other people online, or upload your own to our built in game browser.

Just Build Mode is a no pressure, streamlined experience with a focus on shared creative control for up to 4 players.

Play alone or as part of a team to build the perfect RPG world without the full responsibilities of running a game studio. Choose from a selection of randomly generated cards to expand and shape your world, upgrade your servers to welcome more players and unlock new asset packs. This cozy, co-op enabled mode invites you to focus purely on the joy of creation.

July Demo Update - New Feature Drop

Happy July! We're closing out the month with an update to the Steam demo, a video deep-dive into our Build Set Editor and a closer look at more recent additions to Let's Build a Dungeon.Play The Demo Update A pretty significant demo update is now live! Please give it a try and let us know what you think using the in-game feedback form. We made a new form to keep this round of feedback separate, so even if you completed the old form, please consider telling us what you think about the latest changes. We reviewed all feedback from the last update (thank you!) and we're excited to be sharing the implemented changes. We overhauled how you progress through Campaign Mode, introduced new goal tracking and added new content, full details below. Introducing EncountersTwo of the biggest changes in this update are the addition of and 'Encounters' and your new 'Rating'.Encounters exist to guide how you approach building your MMO world. They are activities that you place in the world for your virtual players to engage with, and could be anything from an enemy to fight, or a crate to smash. They can be combined to create a series of different Encounters, so you can experiment and discover many different types in one playthrough. Rating SystemWe've also added a Rating system to make it clearer how well your MMORPG is coming together. We use 4 focused areas to calculate your game's rating: encounters, quests, composition and accessibility. Your game's performance in these four categories decides your overall rating percentage. You'll need to reach certain rating thresholds to progress through Campaign Mode, and you can see the breakdown of how you're doing in each area in the Rating menu. (see above)Our closed playtests showed that these additions made for a smoother journey when starting out building your MMO masterpiece, so we're excited to bring them to the Steam demo. New Enemies, Items & DialogueThere's a bunch of additional content to uncover too - including new enemies, being a...

New Demo Coming to February Next Fest!

Hey everyone, Happy 2026! We've been a little quiet whilst we prepared for this announcement, but now it's time to share the news... We're taking part in this month's Steam Next Fest! From 23rd February you're invited to play a brand new version of the Let's Build a Dungeon demo. It will include updates to Campaign Mode and a first look at both Creative Mode and Just Build Mode. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45147623/9d2791827c188913f4e4ff566e37aa8692755060.png We want to say a huge thank you to everyone that played the first version of our demo and completed the feedback form. The feedback you submitted helped us to make a lot of changes and improvements and we're incredibly grateful. We'd also like to thank our beta testers for reviewing an early version of the demo, we couldn't do this release without your help! (You can still join the list for potential future beta testing slots over on our website.) There's less than two weeks to wait for the new demo to drop, and we'll be back with a full overview of everything that's new once the demo goes live on February 23rd. Until then, if you have any questions please drop them below and we'll do our best to answer. And if there are any of your favourite content creators that you'd like to see play the new demo, please let us know who we should try and reach out to. We love seeing new people play the game so would be fun to hear your suggestions! We also have a big favour to ask. If there's any way you can support us on the first day of Next Fest by playing on Day 1, it would be a big help. The Next Fest algorithm (supposedly) uses the number of people playing to decide what to share more widely, and we'd really like to try and get Let's Build a Dungeon in front of some new faces! Before we go, here's a preview of the new in-game menu art we've been putting together for this demo update. We're adding custom illustrations to each mode, so our artist Ryan put together a bunch of options for us to work through. Here's a look at a coup...

    Dev Update: Release Planning & 2025 Round-up

Happy holidays from everyone here at Springloaded! 2025 has absolutely flown by, and we're already looking forward to what 2026 will bring. Thank you for your continued support this year - whether that's been wishlisting Let's Build a Dungeon, joining our livestreams or chatting to us on Discord, it's really meant a lot. We're excited for the new year and looking forward to seeing how Let's Build a Dungeon is going to take shape as we work towards release. (more on that shortly) We have a lot to share to catch you up on what we've been working on, so keep reading for: 1. Release Update 2. January Livestream 3. ASUS ROG Dev Accelerator & Testing 4. Design Insights 5. Exclusive Art Drop 6. 2025 Wrapped 1. Preparing for 2026 Release First things first, we want to share a quick update with you about our release plans for Let's Build a Dungeon. Originally we'd been hoping to release during 2025, but we recently made the decision to give ourselves some more breathing room and instead target a 2026 launch. We wanted to officially share the news with you before the year is out along with some insight into the decision. Whilst we don't have a confirmed release date yet, we'll share the details as soon as we can. The last thing we want to do is to announce a date and then have to change it, so we're being cautious to make sure we can accomplish everything we want to achieve in the remaining time. Our recent livestreams show a small portion of the progress we've been making, and we feel proud of what we've achieved so far, but we need some more time to really deliver on everything we have planned. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45147623/13ae7a03b37b3aeda238bc3678fabe9c297c4bfd.gif We know it can be frustrating not knowing when a game will release, but we're grateful to you for sticking with us as we figure this all out. We're committed to doing what's best for Let's Build a Dungeon, this community and our team, and we're SUPER excited about what 2026 is going to bring. You can still check...
