Embark on a 3D open-world journey as Ann, navigating the absurdities of an island teeming with mythical creatures and raucous Scots. Bigfoot vs Scots blends action, adventure, and RPG elements in a dark comedy experience from Haggis Goes Wild Studios, set for release in 2024.

About this game

Dark Scottish Humor Meets Monkey Island Welcome to Amadan, a rugged, remote Scottish island serving as a hideaway for the world’s most eccentric myths and monsters. Bigfoot vs Scots is a 3D third-person open-world dark comedy that pits Scotland’s quirkiest residents against an unexpected threat: Bigfoot himself.

You play as Ann, a sharp-witted and fiery outcast who has returned to the island after being banished as a child. Armed with a legendary family sword and a wicked tongue, Ann must uncover her family's dark secrets while navigating a hostile community that greets her with suspicion and mockery. To survive, you must fight for your place in a world that treats you like a monster.

WELCOME TO THE ISLAND OF AMADAN Forget bloated hack-and-slash hitboxes; survival on Amadan requires mastering "Cultural Duels" and systemic absurdity. The humor here is harsh, unapologetic, and strictly +18.

  • Systemic Absurdity: Every action has unhinged consequences. Feed a haggis whiskey between midnight and daybreak? Congratulations, you’ve just triggered a "Wearhaggis" boss fight.

  • Bizarre Factions: Navigate a truly chaotic ecosystem. Cross paths with Kenny the Functional Drunk Haggis, survive the Rusty Badger Pub's notorious drinking challenges, avoid a coven of useless Norwegian vampires, and deal with the "Mad Biker" werewolf pack.

  • Hyper-Realistic Heritage: The absurdity plays out in a stunning, high-fidelity Unreal Engine 5 world. We’ve utilized institutionally backed photogrammetry to 3D-scan real ancient Pictish stones and gravestones, injecting authentic Scottish history directly into the environment.

THE SOUL BENEATH THE CHAOS: 7 YEARS OF GRIT Bigfoot vs Scots is the brainchild of a solo developer, and beneath the brutal banter and cryptid chaos, the narrative mirrors her own real-life experience.

Given up for adoption at birth and navigating life as a neurodivergent, Kitty knows exactly what it feels like to be an outsider searching for acceptance. Just as Ann fights to carve out her place on Amadan, Kitty poured a lifetime of navigating identity and marginalization into the game's lore. while still pushing that Edgy Scottish Humour that does not hold back.

Built over seven grueling, uninterrupted years of unpaid solo development, this game is a defiant triumph. It’s a story about finding belonging, embracing the quirks of newfound relationships, and proving that when the world treats you like a monster, you grab a sword, plant your feet, and fight back.

    The Big Update is here!!!

Hello, Haggis Lovers!Today marks a massive milestone here at Haggis Studios. We are launching our biggest game update since Early Access began! So, let us dive right into the haggis, neeps, and tatties of what is new. The New IslandThis has been a true labour of love over the last year and a half. (If you want a bit more background on what I have been up to over the last two years, check out my previous Steam updates!) While navigating all of that, I have been working hard to bring this new island to life.I spent countless hours in GAEA to get the island feeling just right. I wanted to capture that authentic Scottish island atmosphere while ensuring it remains an interesting and adventurous place to explore. The island is 16km by 16km, meaning you can run all the way from one end to the other! While the entire landmass is fully explorable, we have not populated every single corner just yet. For this update, our focus has been heavily on the valley where the village of Saorsa is situated. New & Updated LocationsSpeaking of Saorsa, let us look at the locations you can discover: The Lighthouse: This area has received a complete rework with lots of new additions.Westown Chapel: This is an abandoned chapel based on a real ruined chapel in Kinross, Perthshire. I 3D-scanned the real-life ruins, rebuilt the topology and textures, and brought it directly into the game!Sedrick's House: Sedrick has relocated. I moved his house from the old version and gave the surrounding area a complete rebuild with some extra standing stones.Pictish Stone Circle: You are literally walking through Scottish history. These are real-life Pictish stones that I 3D-scanned, re-topologised, re-textured, and placed into the world. The Village of Saorsa: The village has undergone a total rework with a brand-new layout. It even features a real-life Market Cross that was scanned and rebuilt for the game.Castle McGregor: Added to a brand-new area, and it is looking awesome. Just a heads up, I plan on redo...

    The BIg update

The New Island, This has been a labour of love over the last year and bit, my post about what has been happening to me over the last 2 years in steam updates if you want bit more background, but while that has been going on i have been working hard on bridging together the new island, I spent countless hours in GAEA getting the island right and that feel of Scottish island, while still giving a bit of a feel of an interesting and adventurous place. So this is part of update and full able to explore, it is 16km by 16km, you can run from one end to the other, its not been full populated with things, and most of update has focused the valley were the village of Saorsa is situated. Which brings me to new locations NEW Locations So the Lighthouse are has had a rework with lots of new There is a new area called Westown Chapel which is an old abandoned chapel, which is actually a real old abandoned chapel in Perthshire in Kinross that I 3D scanned and then rebuilt the topology and textures and turned into a game asset here. There is also Sedrick's new house, which was in the old version, but I moved it, and gave the area a whole new rebuild with some extra stones, There are the Pictish stones Circle, which are actually real life pictish stones, that I 3D scanned, re-topologies and restextured and added to the game. So you are actually walking in Scottish history while in the game. The Village has had a total rework with new layout, with a real life Merket Cross (Market Cross) that was scanned and rebuilt for the game. Castle Mcgregor as been added also, in a new area which is looking awesome, but I am planning on redoing the interior and some of the buildings as I did these 5 years ago and my modeling skills were not up to scratch as they are now. I am working on Distillery, Campsite, Bigfoot Campsite, Pirate Pantie Cove and Powerstation. So that is Area stuff out the way. What else has been done, The UI has had a bit of updating in terms of graphics and style, there still...

I am not Dead - Update

Major Dev Update: What’s Been Going On & The Road AheadHello everyone, and I hope you are all doing well!I felt this needed a bit more than just a quick post. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, the game hasn’t received an update in a while, over a year, in fact. Today, I want to give you an honest breakdown of the good, the bad, and the interesting behind that silence. But first, the most important news: a major update is coming, and it will be out before August 23rd.While I haven’t been updating the Steam page much, I’ve been quietly working hard behind the scenes to progress the game. It is definitely not abandoned!🛠️ The TL;DR: What's Coming in the Next UpdateRight now, I am working feverishly on the game and upgrading to Unreal Engine 5. Here is a quick snapshot of what’s dropping before August 23rd:Combat System Rebuild: Completely reworked combat mechanics.World & Landscape Rebuild: Expanded and rebuilt into a massive 16km × 16km map.Model & Asset Overhaul: Rebuilt building models, plus new grooms and hair systems.New Quests & Content: Fresh questlines and stories to explore.✈️ So... What Actually Happened? To give you some context on the silence: major personal and visa issues made it extremely difficult to stay in the country I was living in (without doxxing myself here!).About two years ago, right before I dropped Early Access, I was abruptly told I had to leave the country I’d called home for 8 years, with just three weeks to pack up my entire life and leave. I did that, spent six months in a small rental getting the game into its Early Access state, and tried to keep things moving.Around that time, I was granted an emergency stay and allowed to return home to my partner, whom I’d been separated from for six months. I moved back, but after three months, I was informed that the temporary stay was granted in error. Once again, I was given just three weeks to pack up and leave. At that point, my partner and I decided it was time to leave that country for good.I return...

    Update for this month

Hey everyone! I’ve been working feverishly behind the scenes to get everything ready for the first major update, which I’m hoping to release before the end of Q1—possibly even the first week of March. There’s been a huge amount of work going into the game, adding new content, fixing issues, and making improvements. I’ve kept my head down focusing on this, and I’m excited to share what’s coming soon! In the coming days, I’ll be posting a detailed patch notes list covering everything included in the Q1 update. There’s a lot to unpack, so keep an eye out for that. I’ll also be sharing a roadmap outlining the updates planned for the rest of the year, so you know what to expect. On top of the development work, I’ve also been applying for funding through Scottish EDGE and a few other funding bodies. If successful, this would help speed up development and allow me to expand the game even further. The goal is to bring you more content, better systems, and fully voice-acted, high-quality quests—because let’s be honest, boring fetch quests just aren’t my style. I want every quest to feel like a quality experience, with a bit of that signature brutal humor you’ve come to expect. Being a solo developer means things can take a bit longer, but I’m fully committed to delivering a complete game that lives up to your expectations. Your patience and support mean the world to me. We recently had a successful playtesting session at the GamesHUB Playpazook event. The feedback was invaluable. It highlighted a few areas needing improvement, including rebuilding the mini-map system and making quest objectives and goals clearer. I’m already working on these changes to ensure the final product is as polished as possible. There’s so much happening, not just with the game but also with growing Haggis Goes Wild Studios into something bigger than I ever imagined. Bigfoot vs Scots is shaping up to be something truly special, and I can’t wait to see where we go from here. Thanks for being part of ...
