Embark on a nostalgic adventure as Ichiro-94, an astronaut navigating the mysteries of a ghostly future Japan. Solve puzzles and engage in turn-based battles with eerie spirits in this solo-developed retro-futuristic RPG from NerdyPunkDev.

About this game

Spaceman Memories is a solo developed heartfelt tribute to the classic JRPGs that shaped a generation, set in a low-poly fictional Japan slowly being overtaken by strange spirits and ancient folklore.

You play as Ichiro-94, an astronaut whose capsule mysteriously crash-lands back home after a long space mission. With fragments of his memory missing, Ichiro sets out on a quiet journey to rediscover his past, encountering mysterious Yokai, forgotten places, and a world caught somewhere between the future and ancient myth.

Explore a nostalgic world where pixel art characters live inside a handcrafted low-poly 3D world. Solve puzzles, uncover hidden memories, and fight supernatural enemies in classic turn-based battles.

Spaceman Memories is a story about rediscovery, nostalgia, and the strange beauty of forgotten things.

  • Scan mysterious Yokai during battles to reveal their stats and learn more about the creatures you encounter

  • Thoughtful turn-based combat built for people who never got over the simplicity of the golden age of JRPGs

  • Build a living compendium of every Yokai you encounter, each one logged with its own lore in the spirit world

  • Level up Ichiro with a progression system that rewards curiosity as much as combat

  • Recover lost memories scattered throughout the world and slowly piece together Ichiro-94’s forgotten past

  • Meet quirky and memorable NPCs, each with their own strange stories and connections to the spirit world

  • Collect items like bonsais and traditional Japanese food items to build your personal inventory of discoveries and survival

  • Explore a cozy retro-futuristic Japan, where quiet towns, ancient forests, and forgotten places hide strange spirits

  • Pixel art characters inside a handcrafted low-poly 3D world, blending retro nostalgia with modern atmosphere

  • Discover panel puzzles scattered across the overworld, each one tied to symbolism of the world around it

  • Solve visual pattern puzzles that activate lasers, unlocking new paths and secrets hidden in plain sight

  • Puzzles range from simple pattern recognition to multi-panel challenges that span entire areas of the world

  • An original synth soundtrack handcrafted to feel like a memory you can't quite place, warm, nostalgic, and a little melancholy

  • Retro-inspired compositions that shift with the world around you, from eerie quiet forests to tense supernatural encounters

  • Every track written for a specific moment, whether you're wandering a forgotten town or facing something ancient and dangerous

Big Demo Update! – Version 0.23

Demo Update – Version 0.23Hey gamers, hope you can try the new version of my demo.v0.23 is here with one of the biggest gameplay changes so far. After several months of playtesting feedback, I went back and completely refactored and revamped how the combat system works underneath. Battles now use a new card based combat system where each turn adds a new random card to your hand. You’ll now have access to different types of attacks, defense cards, skills, alongside the previous item system already in the game. The goal with this change is to make combat feel more dynamic and unpredictable while still giving the player control over the outcome of battles. This update also includes a couple quality of life improvements and bug fixes across the demo. The game is finally starting to feel closer to the version I originally had in mind, and all the feedback from players has genuinely helped shape it into something better. I really appreciate everyone that has taken the time to try the demo so far, and I’d love for you to give this new version a go.GameplayCombatCompletely refactored and revamped the combat system into a new card based battle system.Initial turn gives you 4 action cards. Each turn now adds a new random card to your hand, making battles feel more dynamic and less repetitive.2 random cards draw functionality per battleAdded different card categories including attacks, defense cards, and skills.Previous combat items have been integrated into the new combat flow.Combat now focuses more on strategy, adapting to your current hand, and making smarter decisions during battles.CombatGrenades and ofudas are limited to 10 to prevent spamming on battles.Revamped death world.2 random cards draw functionality per battleAdded different card categories including attacks, defense cards, and skills.Previous combat items have been integrated into the new combat flow.Combat now focuses more on strategy, adapting to your current hand, and making smarter decisions during battles....
