About this game

Full of grit, action, and stray bullets, The Declassifier is a top-down shooter set in an alternate version of USA inspired by action B-movies from the 80's. Take control of an inconspicuous trucker who - on his quest for revenge - stumbles face first into the government’s behind the scenes workings and long kept secrets. Don’t let them brainwash them any more and you just might turn out to be the only person capable of handing freedom back to the people… democratically, more or less.

This game will test your reflexes and precision, all while touching upon conspiratorial and controversial subjects - presented as tongue-in-cheek as you’d expect from an 80’s action flick. Be ready to fight your way through compact levels packed to the brim with enemies, master your weapons and gadgets, and see how the public and the media react to your quest.

    Alpha Build and Roadmap

Hello everyone, it’s us - Troubadour Collective - yes, we’re still alive! We might have dozed off for the past two years due to professional and personal reasons, but we decided it’s time to finally get up, have breakfast, and get back to making things. And as a result, we present to you the latest Alpha Build of our demo, which includes:an expanded brawl scene in the building, now featuring a ground-floor level and street,a brand new speedrun level with a global leaderboard where you can compete in three categories: Score, Time, and Pace, the addition of a player mechanic for stunning and finishing off enemies, improved level balance and navigation flow, small interactive elements in the main menu, and overall, it’s a lot bloodier. But we’re not stopping here - we plan to deliver two more builds: Beta and Final. We’re aiming to release the Beta Build around late October to early November. You’ll be able to try its first samples during PGA 2025 (Oct 24–26), where we’ll be exhibiting thanks to Indie Games Polska. The Beta Build will include:an additional government facility level with an entirely new enemy type,a door mechanic with actual physical doors in the levels,an environmental destruction system, improvements to UI/UX intuitiveness, and additional music and sound effects. We plan to deliver the Final demo version by the end of this year, which will feature:a collectibles system,a possibility to change the hero's clothes,a working in-game web browser, overall polishing of everything included in the previous builds, and possibly an extra speedrun level. We hope to finally bring you the demo vision we dreamed up a few years ago, and one that you’ll enjoy as much as we do!Take care and enjoy, Troubadour Collective

    Taunts, ricochets, and performance (0.13)

Hi! We're rolling out an update to the current demo build based on the feedback we've been getting: - several changes to light batching in the scenes, leading to noticeably better performance (looking at you, Junkyard) - fixed the possibility to spam kicks in a quick succession that also froze player movement as a side effect - tweaks to some VFX and a few sounds - breakable walls now cast shadows properly - rework of the baseball bat: more responsive (less frames of a windup) attack, slightly wider attack arc, animation changed to be less of a 'bonk bonk off to the horny jail' (shoutout to our stick-swinging consultant) - added taunting (keybind: T), allowing to add insult to injury - the pipe bomb now explodes more glamorously and can destroy light sources - enemies are now more responsive to the sounds of both gunshots and bullets flying by, making them react aggresively to gunfights - updated how AI pathfinding reacts to destroyed walls, making the enemies rather angry when a nearby wall is blown up, as well as less afraid to walk through the debris and hunt down the player - ricochets! bullets hitting walls at certain angles now have a chance to glance off Enjoy!

The Declassifier Demo on Steam Next Fest!

We’re thrilled to announce that The Declassifier Demo will debut on 19.06 during the Steam Next Fest. It will be available for free, and will include the first part of the game's prologue, in which we'll visit some old friends (some players may already recognize them from our previous game), find a place to crash in at the local dump, and, on our quest for revenge, clear the apartment building of low-level gangsters. The second part of the prologue, completing it, will debut as a patch in July. It will continue the previously set up revenge plot and introduce the player to the conspiratorial world that is the driving force present in the full version of the game. To find out more about the game, we encourage you to follow us on Twitter, where all sorts of information the game will be published.
