It's finally here: Minor Quality of Life Update!

After nearly two years I have finally uploaded the minor quality of life update I intended to do just after release. I really burnt out when I originally released the game. Besides the fact that I didn't sleep the night before release and pushed 21 changes to my git repository that night to get it out the door I also just did the whole releasing a game pretty poorly. Obviously it was my first time doing it so I didn't really know any different but I still could have done it much better. I realised pretty early in development that my while the game was quite fun for a jam game it just didn't really have an interesting enough core to be a good game. So I thought that I'd just wrap it up quickly and release it just so I could have the experience of creating and launching a game. It was a success in that regard but a huge failure in the toll it took on my feeling towards game development. I made the decision to quickly release the game when I thought it was 90% done (well 90% of the minimal amount for me to consider it "done"). Anyone who is familiar with game development will know that the last 10% takes 90% of the time and that was absolutely true in my case. After essentially already being emotionally done with the game I still had to commit a bunch more work towards it to release it. So when I finally did release it I just couldn't stand to touch it or anything else game development related for years. I'm only now back to really being excited about game development again but my wife just gave birth to our first son so I no longer have the free time to pursue it haha. I wanted to push out this small update so I could feel ok with leaving the game how it is and move onto other projects. This time I'm aiming to only commit to an idea that I'm really excited about. Also I'm finally comfortable putting the game on sale which was a weird burnout side effect. Anyway, here is the immense change log: Included more clarity for when upgrades are available and what they lockout...

    Piscirazzi Out Now!

This is a pretty surreal moment for me. I just hit the "Release App" button and a game that I made is now available on Steam! Of course there's still tons of things I want to add to the game and I am going to add a lot of them over the next few weeks but there's currently a playable game out right now for purchase. If you do buy my game thanks so much! I hope you enjoy it and are excited for future updates as well. Here's the release changelog: Gameplay Zones There are now multiple zones that you progress through as you play You have to take a good enough photo of each fish in a zone to unlock the next There are currently 3 zones with 3 fish in each with more to come At the start of each day you pick a zone on the map to go to Tasks These are goals to aim for each run You have 3 at a time, 1 of them being the zone unlocking task until you've unlocked them all Once you complete a task you will get a new one at the start of the next day They do give points when you complete them but they can't be spent yet, they are tracked though so you'll be able to spend any you've already earnt once the update is out Audio/Visual Added fax machine sound effect when the new featured fish is revealed Fish and scenery further away can now be seen in the back of photos but don't add any points Added a new song that plays during the montage at the end of a run Fixes Fixed unpausing issue when reviewing photo Added a map step to the tutorial Limit featured fish to coral reef only during tutorial Fixed fish being able to be featured multiple days in a row Changed tutorial comments to only show when there aren't well framed fish Adjusted hover borders for macro photos Fixed hover text drawing off the photo 🐟
