About this game

Pirate Patrol is a strategy -and tactics- driven science fiction space combat game with deep RPG elements, set in the lawless regions of space. Players take command of a powerful capital ship and fight to survive against enemy fleets, autonomous warships, and constantly evolving threats.

The game blends real-time space battles with procedurally generated missions, enemies, and systems, ensuring that every run presents new scenarios, risks, and opportunities. Players can discover and collect an endless variety of items, loot, and ship modules, allowing for highly personalized builds and playstyles.

Pirate Patrol’s RPG-based progression systems enable extensive customization of the capital ship, fighter squadrons, and defensive infrastructure. Turret systems, combat computers, specialized ship modules, and tactical configurations directly influence the outcome of every engagement. Resource management, planning, and smart equipment choices are key to survival.

Built around exploration, risk, and reward, Pirate Patrol constantly encourages players to experiment with new strategies. Its design delivers endless replayability, creating unique builds, new threats, and different survival stories with each playthrough.

With its deep systems, tactical decision-making, and strong atmospheric presentation, the game is aimed at players seeking a rich space-themed strategy and RPG experience.

What is Smart-Pause Gameplay (SPG)

To combine the tactical depth of turn-based strategy games with the dynamic flow of real-time combat, we developed a pause system for Pirate Patrol called Smart Pause Gameplay (SPG).

SPG is inspired by the Real-Time with Pause (RTwP) systems found in many real-time games, but it goes a step further by significantly enhancing the player’s sense of control in a real-time environment. With SPG, the game intelligently pauses based on the player’s input and intent, allowing for smooth, intuitive tactical decision-making.

This system enables players to plan ahead and issue commands without breaking immersion—eliminating the need to constantly press a pause button or deal with disruptive interruptions caused by scripted or repetitive events. The result is a more fluid and responsive tactical experience that stays fast-paced while remaining deeply strategic.
