Indie, RPG, Casual · More free games
In Everybody's Stranger by Tyrillion, explore an alternate realm as you run a tavern, attract unique characters, and uncover the mystery of your origins.
About this game

The characters you meet and interact with differ based on how you decorate your inn:
- Turn your inn into a veritable garden, and you'll attract plant-loving druids.
- Fill your tavern with music, and the realm’s finest bards will soon be clamoring to perform on your stage.
- Plant all sorts of vegetables and turn them into a bevy of seasonal dishes for the guests in your inn.
- Decorate your inn to attract different types of heroes (or villains) and learn their food likes and dislikes.
- Smith weapons, armor, jewelry; tailor clothing; build furniture and upgrade your inn.
Strap on your monocle (once you get it) and explore the world from the flip side. Encounter lost souls, relics to attract new NPCs to the inn, and a whole mess of secrets to help you uncover where you're from and how you ended up running an inn in a desolate swamp with a bunch of wackos stopping in at every hour of the day.
Key Features:
- Rich stories for remarkable NPCs driven by your unique interactions with them
- Extensive system for tracking what your inn's guests value, to repel or attract precisely the right clientele depending on your preference for good or evil (or somewhere in between)
- Hundreds of accurate (though simplified) recipes to cook and serve to the various guests that come to your inn
- A sweeping story rooted in the mystery of finding out who you are, where you’re from, and how you fit into the strange new world you’ve found yourself
- Fishing system where you catch fish to the beats of metal, pop, bluegrass, and other genres of music in a rhythm-based mini-game
- Completely original score composed by Joel Steudler, with unique tracks for each area, different times of day, and themes for many of the characters you’ll meet
- Robust quest system with far too many side quests, different ways to complete them, and multiple endings depending on which paths you choose
- Chopping, mining, planting, growing, harvesting, tailoring, blacksmithing, silversmithing, and more, all to suit your crafting temptations
Bonus Features:
- Chickens equipped with advanced evasion capacity
- Virtual swamp eel stew, with accurately simulated gastrointestinal response
- Naked mole rat awareness outreach indoctrination
- Gnomes
- Farming sim that requires no application for government subsidies
- Gargoyle mental health awareness
- Relaxingly inaccurate depiction of economic exchange in a capitalist economy

Hello friends and travelers, I’ve been swamp-deep working on the playable demo for Everybody’s Stranger, and I’m super excited to share some progress with you. It's not ready just yet, but you can sign up to be notified below.Start and complete 15+ fully-developed questsFrom growing your first crops to setting up a date between NPCs, the quests stay odd, build the story, but are ultimately endearing. Oh, and the multiple endings...New NPCsMeet and interact with 23 fully-voiced NPCs, all with unique storylines, routines, preferences, and quirks.Fish to the RhythmCatch fish to the beat of 6 original tracks (many more to come!).There’s still work to do on testing, visual polish, and recording voices for a few more characters, however the core feel of the game and its cast of cozy, strange NPCs is beginning to shine.Huge thanks to everyone who’s followed along so far. Stay tuned for demo dates, and if you want to follow the game’s progress, check it out on TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram.Wishlists and feedback are fuel to my little swamp soul, and I’m grateful for every bit of it.-RickRead full article on Community Announcements (Tyrillion Corporation)AnnouncementsOfficial
Where in the World Are My NPCs?
Just wrapped up adding a world map to the game! It’s done entirely in pixel art, complete with charming little animations and handy NPC markers so you can track folks down—even when they’re off wandering. As you explore, the map dynamically unveils new regions, rewarding curiosity with a broader view of the world. This is just a portion of the full map for the demo. More areas are coming soon—including the town, which is currently under extremely enthusiastic construction by the Gnomes. They keep mentioning needing to go back to Gnome Depot for additional materials, so I'm just going to let them have at it. Character Showcase: Bartholomew {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43695673/8fbd2834aba18bf099122c1635fb029468be9253.png Class: Merchant Guild Favorite Dish: Cinnamon Ginger Caramels Description: Some people are known for their warmth, charity, and welcoming hospitality. Bartholomew isn't. Bartholomew enjoys appearing to be knowledgeable and selectively enforcing propriety. He does cook a mean tart. Bartholomew is being voiced by the one and only Joel Steudler. In addition to being an excellent composer (and writing all the music for the game), he's also quite the talented voice artist. Have a listen: Follow the Development of Everybody's Stranger I've been posting progress updates on a variety of internet time holes if that's your sort of thing. Pick your poison: TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube. Also, if you'd like to know when the demo is released, you can sign up for the mailing list. First Festival Complete!
There are big events that happen throughout the year in Everybody's Stranger (like Stardew Valley), and I wanted to make sure to include one in the game's demo. So, in early spring, your character can participate in the Annual Swamp Skip. The Inn's regulars and some of the devoted townfolk make their way out to the swamp to join in events and enjoy the the swamp's quaint ambience. You can participate in the following: Stone Skipping Competition Remember the last time you skipped a stone? I don't. But I definitely never did it in a swamp. Can you beat Bartholomew, the reigning champion? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43695673/5c8ecfd9d118ccc85334439050fa9af2d99b22a2.png Baking Competition Peggy informs you that as the new Innkeeper, you'll be judging this year's baking competition (think Great British Baking Show). Whose dessert will reign supreme? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43695673/35bfa212f40051a101eb15979a01c68645f40465.png Character Showcase: Xazisvyar {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43695673/81595d6d8bf348152d86e7f9afea05ed52ed98d0.png Class: Fighter Favorite Dish: Rack of Lamb Description: Xazisvyar cares as much about the quality of his shoes as he does his sword, and both are pristine and elegant. He's a fighter by profession, but a lover in most things. Voice Actor: James, my nextdoor neighbor, is a magnificent rocket scientist while also managing to voice this boistrous sword fighter. Rock Candy
There are currently 26 crops in the game as of now (and that's just Spring!), however, not every "crop" is what you might imagine. Anything that grows in the game is considered a crop, so this could be a morel that regrows after you harvest it, or even a gemstone, like an amethyst that respawns after a few days once you hack at it. There is an entire library of crops that I'm constantly adding to, which organizes what they look like at each stage of growth, what season they grow in, how many fruits or items they produce, and a variety of other important bits of info. But what I really wanted to share is the how each crop can have chance spawnables; these are items that might show up when you harvest a crop. Let's take the amethyst, for example: when you brandish your pickaxe, it has a 50% chance of dropping Rock Candy — something Foimoisha, your resident Gargoyle, is quite fond of. I'll be adding more vegetables, fruits, trees, and other crops as development continues. If there's anything specific you'd like to see that maybe isn't in other farming games, let me know! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43695673/396a8887d03d002f0ab49c0df5334f7be092923a.png Character Showcase: Peggy {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43695673/cbf791a1d719fdab22305a1e1edbce172bd382b8.png Class: Rogue Favorite Dish: Ginger, Carrots, and Honey Description: Peggy, the town’s devoted seed saver, carefully cultivates rare and heirloom seeds, supplying Tobias’s shop with the best of each season. She's opinionated and spry for her age, which she rarely neglects to mention. Voice Actor: Katy plays many characters in the game, and lends her Alabama roots to Peggy's voice beautifully. Here's a glimpse: A Raven To Your Door If you haven't signed up for email list to know when the demo is available, you can do so here: subscribepage.io/everybodysstranger Cheers! -Rick {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43695673/12b88997068ed17c3f744d0ba8af72680c889bed.pngRead full article on Community Announcements (Tyrillion Corporation)AnnouncementsOfficial
A Shiny New Toolbar
Greeting listeners! Welcome back to Swamp Things Considered, where we dive into deep topics like "Self-watering crops, is it for real?" "What is up with that cave porcupine?" and in this issue, "Why the tool menu was so hard to use, and how we fixed it." Throughout development, we've had a handful of dedicated playtesters (so much love to all of you) trying out new features, finding outlandish bugs, and walking through walls, and the number one thing that they all struggled with was the toolbar. So... I completely redid it with the help of a fancy Unity plugin called the Ultimate Radial Menu. The version in Everybody's Stranger is fully customized with a brand-new skin (which was super easy to do with the help of the developer). Character Showcase: Booker Flimblebottom {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43695673/38c4f9490ce51f13212fe200601da1202438a6b2.png Class: Merchant Guild Favorite Dish: Cinnamon Ginger Caramels Description: A "tax collector" by name only, Booker Flimblebottom is more than happy to share, in exhausting detail, his Inn-Vestment Token platform, where you can collect tokens to use to upgrade your Inn, and... other things. He's jovial, a lover of strange desserts, and mostly just very happy you set foot in his office. Voice Actor: Jason, an aspiring game developer, is taking up the role of Booker. Don't Be a Lurker If you've been following along with the development of Everybody's Stranger so far, don't be shy and post in the comments! I'd love to incorporate some of your ideas into the game. Maybe it's a festival, a mysterious relic, something to find in the monocle realm, a quality of life thing you've always wanted to see in games like this one, etc. I'll respond to each and every comment and even put some of your ideas into the game.
