About this game

Beaming Stingray is an approachable and fluid shoot 'em up about time and aging. Soraya's life hangs in the balance following a reckless act of revenge. Can she find peace with the time she has left?
FIGHT ALONGSIDE YOURSELF
Fill Soraya's TimeStone by absorbing green time-bullets and play alongside past versions of yourself. Double up on a shielded enemy to expose a weak point or dance together with your time ghost to rack up combos that would be impossible in linear time. With forward-thinking strategy, many ghosts can be stacked for truly dizzying action. Exploiting the possibilities of the TimeStone is key to your success and your survival.BRAIN-BENDING ACTION
Face complex, puzzle-like bosses and string together three enemies of the same color/symbol to net a score-amplifying COMBO. Maintaining a COMBO throughout an entire level requires multiple play sessions, thoughtful strategy, and multi-ghost coordination.FLY WITH POWER AND GRACE
Dash and back blast between walls of bullets as you take out waves of tanks and war machines. The little Deity you fly has a unique move set that enables creativity and rapid-fire damage dealing. Shooting at point-blank range does double damage and ending a combo with a back blast will net you a COMBO+ for extra points and a TimeStone boost.SAVE THE ANIMALS
The Raeshah Revolutionary Army (RRA) has captured many of the mystical creatures in the land. Find a way to free them and they might just return the favor. Saving all of the animals unlocks a secret level and minigame inside of Soraya's mind...System Requirements

DEVLOG: Grand Ocean
Hi all, Austin here. Work on the game continues! It really does. Lots of work behind the scenes building up the Grand Ocean level. This is a water-based level that focuses on player movement. I've shared some parts of the sewer portion before, but here is a look at the Cakuc, the Hammerhead. The player has to dodge the ongoing downward lasers while managing the barrage of bullet and missile patterns throughout the fight. I wanted to create something that forces the player to really use the dash in a fun and fast way, so you'll be flying all over the place for this one.Long way to go still on development, but in between work and life I AM MAKING PROGRESS!Thanks,AustinRead full article on Community Announcements (ninthpower)AnnouncementsOfficial
SHMUP SLAM 7!
Hey all! Shmup Slam is the premier US-based shoot 'em up event put together with love and dedication by Mark from Electric Underground. This year is going to be another awesome showcase of top-level players like Jaimers, Meriscan, and many many more. I'll be doing a S-Rank run of the demo at 6PM EST on Sunday May 18th and talking about some of the design thoughts of the game too. Watch live starting Saturday 8AM EST on YouTube Check out the last Shmup Slam too:Read full article on Community Announcements (ninthpower)AnnouncementsOfficial
Devlog: The Sewer Tunnel
THE SEWER TUNNEL {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43682030/688235b3ac724b4b965a6a234bf1507cf2a7cc0d.gif The second level of the game, The Grand Ocean, is a water-based level with multiple areas and transitions where the core gameplay revolves around movement challenges. After defeating the boss in level one, Soraya and the Little One find themselves traveling through sewer tunnels full of sludge and pollution, hoping that "all rivers lead to the sea". It's dark and dank in the tunnel and all the enemies are based off of bugs and amphibians: gnats, horned-toads, and dragonflies... {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43682030/f6b9626c4b6d6c730a42997d018afd1297a20c84.gif If you don't know how to use the dash effectively yet, you will when you face the horned-toad! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43682030/a35ca2a5dc86d30cbd4984102a310747081b0788.gif The. next area of the game is a canyon that leads to the titular Grand Ocean. Demo Update 1.3.1
Hi all - Austin here! Holidays are over and it's time to get back to work with what should be (fingers crossed ːsteamhappyː) the final main update to the demo. The two main issues I kept seeing about the demo were that the intro tutorial and the intended strategy for the demo boss were too unclear. Streamlined Tutorial You might think tutorials are easy to make, but there are so many kinds of players at different skill and literacy levels that it's really hard to make something that works for everyone. It's REALLY hard to figure what to tell the player, how much, and at what speed. For example, the tutorial currently only has three parts and it covers shooting, comboing, combo+, and rewinding time. But there are a lot more mechanics in the game! For example, Dashing, Dashing + Absorbing time bullets at the same time, Point-Blank damage increase, bonuses when large enemies fall into smaller ones, rewind penalties, and more are not explained in the initial tutorial. I have always been inspired by Hyper Light Drifter and how that game used next-to-nothing in terms of text. That's why the "How to Play" section had the images of what you were supposed to do instead of words. But that was a little too cryptic. So now they take away the controls for a moment to just display the image and words explaining what it means: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43682030/744b945fcd720462b921f5a6cbeff1199b45024e.gif Much cleaner! The Self-Coordination Problem The demo's boss has one main purpose: to skill gate player's who can coordinate with their future/past selves. The intended way to defeat the boss is to open up one of the four joints inn one timeline, then rewind and shoot the opened joint in another. But MOST PEOPLE WEREN'T DOING THAT! The main reason why, I think, wasn't actually about telegraphing what to do - this fix addresses that too - but that it was much too easy to unintentionally open and attack the joints at the same time. So to address that, I adjusted both the hitbox of the join...Read full article on Community Announcements (ninthpower)AnnouncementsOfficial
Devlog: Ramping Up Development in 2025
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year! Playing some games... At the end of each year I take some time to play a bunch of games. With a full-time job and a family, I spend more time developing games than making them. So I usually grab a couple games during the holiday sales or set aside time to play ones I've been looking forward too. Here's some of the games I've been playing this past month: Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (Finishing after bouncing off) Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Hogwarts Legacy And one more game I've been looking forward to for years and finally made time to play it: Layer Section. This might surprise you but I don't play very many shoot 'em ups! I find most shoot 'em ups to be very derivative, but this is one of those super unique ones and it's super approachable. The push and pull of focusing on surviving in the foreground while locking on to enemies in the background is really fun and frantic. It's definitely worth a look. Beaming Stingray in 2025 Now that I've had some time off from development, it's time to get back to work. I can't wait to build the remaining levels and mechanics in this game and this break has rekindled the fire to get this thing done. Here are some things I'll be working on starting in the new year: New demo with better tutorials and boss tweaks Grand Ocean sequencing + racing section Zahar Desert enemy design and 'dungeon' generation MORE MUSIC I'm trying to make something super unique in the shoot 'em up space with mechanics and enemy design no one's even thought could or should be in a shoot 'em up. Can't wait to get to work! -AustinRead full article on Community Announcements (ninthpower)
